Wilmington Manor provides a peaceful place for residents to receive residential and nursing care in a safe and homely environment. People requiring respite, convalescence and palliative care are also welcomed into the home.

Converted and extended from a manor house, residents keen on gardening are encouraged to participate, whether lightly or regularly depending on how they please.

The home has two lounges to choose from at the home, as well as the dining room, and if they prefer residents are free to dine in the comfort of their own room. Seasonal menus are created by the home’s chef who understands the needs and tastes of each individual.

There’s a real sense of community at the home. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. Dedicated activity coordinators help ensure residents are able to pursue their hobbies and interests, as well as organising a range of activities which include bingo, quizzes, flower arranging and music sessions, there is so much for residents to enjoy. Regular trips out are also enjoyed as are shopping trips and themed monthly events.

My 86-year-old mother came to Wilmington Manor in December 2021 after a 6-week stay at the hospital - sadly she couldn't go home and look after herself so I needed to find her a care home. I have nothing but great things to say about Wilmington Manor since my mother has been staying there. The staff
are all very friendly, caring and highly efficient and I feel my mother is very well looked after and she has settled in very well indeed. The location is great, very quiet and the building itself is laid out well, with several communal areas, as well as decent private rooms too. My mum's, for example, has a lovely view - which is great for her as she is now, unfortunately, bed-bound. Visiting is not allowed at mealtimes, but from what I gather from my mum, the food is very nice and she enjoys it. Activities wise, I understand the team put on a wide variety of activities, which seem to go down well with all the residents. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this care home to others.

My mum has been at Wilmington Manor care home for over 3 years, probably one of the longest residents who has stayed there. She is extremely happy there as it’s a fantastic care home. I know most of the staff there, due to the length of time Mum has been there and I can honestly say they are all amazing,
each and every one of them. They have done the most amazing job in these difficult times and have done everything in their power to keep their residents safe and happy, as best they possibly can, under these difficult circumstances. I applaud them all, they are amazing, kind hearted people each and every one of them. Whenever I call the reception girls, I get a full rundown on what Mum had been up to as she normally sits in reception as it’s her favourite place. When I speak to the nurses' station, I get a full rundown of how Mum is doing and how she has been. They are, in my opinion, worth their weight in gold. Well done, Wilmington Manor care home.

My mum has been very settled and happy since moving to Wilmington Manor. It was her 90th Birthday last week and it was so sad not to be able to visit, but the staff made sure her birthday was celebrated, even making her a cake and they took some lovely photos of her with all her cards, flowers and balloons
that we had sent in. Knowing that her birthday was still special, despite lockdown, made it easier for us and we have some great photos to treasure. Thank you to all the staff that made it possible.
Reply from Alison Horridge, Customer Advisor on behalf of the team at Wilmington Manor Care HomeThank you for your kind words. We are so happy to know the celebrations still felt special for you, under the difficult circumstances. We will certainly pass your comments on to the team to let them know how much you appreciated it.

The staff at Wilmington Manor Care Home were simply phenomenal. Very professional and courteous, always ready and willing to assist. My mum spent 4 weeks there before she passed and I would not have wanted a better home for her. From the Manager, the Deputy Manager, right through to the Receptionist,
all exuded empathy, affability and good service. The Clinical nurses were just superb, very knowledgeable and had attention to detail. The family is very satisfied that Mum's last days were comfortable and peaceful. Well done to this team of superb professionals.

Unfortunately, I have only seen my husband once this year, due to Covid. I have to ask if he is ok. My daughter has had video links. I would like a brief reassurance occasionally he is doing ok. I am on my own now and have been married for 62 years this Christmas, but when I ask they do communicate
with me. I understand staff shortages and feel they are doing their best in such a terrible year. My best wishes go to all staff for 2021.

My mother became a resident in this care home in June 2019 at which time she was ninety-seven. Regretfully, she was only a resident for six months or so as she died on Christmas eve 2019. However, I can honestly say I believe she was more comfortable and secure during her last six months than at any
other time in her life. The care home nurses and carers were always courteous and considerate and treated my mother with love and dignity.

My father only spent 3 weeks in the care home and now just receiving palliative care. He was treated with respect by the staff, all his needs were attended to. The staff are very busy and at times he did have to wait after pressing the buzzer but only because they were helping other patients. All the
staff were very kind and helpful. I do feel that only having the Doctor one day a week is not enough. Dad got an infection on a Wednesday and had to wait a week till the Doctor came in.

From the first contact with reception to the last contact, we had a very professional service for my husband. All his nursing care was carried out with care and respect that we had come to expect from Wilmington Manor. All the staff from housekeeping, laundry and maintenance plus all the care and nursing
staff, we never had a problem that could not be sorted out very quickly. The care I was given when having a bad day was always there for me and my husband.

My mum had a wonderful time at Wilmington Manor, singing, making things, eating with the other residents and encouraged to be independent. The other respite care that mum had previously, they never bothered to let her get involved, never taking her out of bed. This is a wonderful experience for her
and she keeps telling me she can't wait to come back. Thank you.

My mum had a very short stay at the home - 6 weeks (Sept-Oct 2018) then passed away. I can say my mum's treatment was second to none. All the staff were helpful, honest, loving and professional when dealing with her on a daily basis and that was hugely appreciated. My overall opinion is "hats off" to
the staff and management who were all welcoming and caring to patients and family alike. A huge thank you on behalf of myself and the rest of the family.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.483)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.483) out of 10 for Wilmington Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.608 for Wilmington Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (128 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 186 Ratings = 4.608
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wilmington Manor Care Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
