Her room, although smaller than I would have liked, is very nice and clean.
I'm sure Mum will be happy there as she is looked after by the caring staff.
I chose Withens as all reviews were very positive and I only live nearby.
Thank you for your review, Ray. We are glad Mum has settled in so well and that Mum and yourself are happy with the care provided. As soon as a larger room becomes available for Mum I will call you for a discussion on potentially moving Mum.
I came to visit my aunt who has been here for some time now. I was made very welcome and was struck by the friendly atmosphere. The home is small and set in lovely surroundings. After my visit I was able to speak to the manager, she obviously care a lot about my aunt and was happy to talk about her to me before I left. My aunt's room was lovely, bright, clean and fresh.
This year my mum has had to move to a permanent care home after a fall in December 2020. When I visited Withens, I was impressed by the whole team - all caring, friendly and approachable. Mum arrived two days before her birthday, and despite having to isolate, was still able to celebrate - cook made her a cake, especially. I am so relieved to have found Mum a home from home, where she is well cared for and safe, and where her family is always made welcome when we visit.
Best wishes.
We have been to see Dad each week for while and he is well cared for and made a fuss of. The staff are really good to him and talk to us, nothing is too much trouble. We phone and talk to Dad every day, we see Dad in the garden or conservatory so we haven't seen inside the home or Dad's room.
Very good. Staff always pleasant and helpful. Residents always seem happy and contented.
My mum moved into the Withens in March 2021. Since her admission there, her care has been exceptional and all of her needs have been met. All of the staff go out of their way to reassure us, as a family and nothing is too much trouble. We, as a family, are so happy that we moved her from the original home that she was in. The care at the Withens has been second to none. Thank you all so much for looking after my mum.
I am so happy with the care and welfare that is given to our Mum. Great, friendly atmosphere with fantastic staff. The Withens is a fantastic care home.
I could not wish for a nicer place for my father to be spending his last days. The staff are so caring and he couldn't wish to be looked after better.
The care provided to Mum during her time living at The Withens has always been excellent but the compassion and love staff have for the residents became even more obvious during the last few weeks of her life. As always, she was treated with dignity and respect, with staff at pains to make sure she was as comfortable and pain-free as absolutely possible. In these difficult pandemic times, this helped enormously as I knew that Mum was getting the best care at all times. The empathy and care provided to me and the family was also very much appreciated. All this and the fact that I was able to spend precious time with Mum and be with her at the end means more than I can ever say. Thank you all.
The end of life care that was provided was given with great compassion and empathy.
My mother was only resident for short while, receiving palliative care. Her room was freshly decorated, extremely clean and with a beautiful view. The building is well maintained and in a lovely location. When we visited to view the home for the first time we immediately felt at ease and reassured. The senior who showed us round was friendly and had great empathy, we were also impressed that she had been working at the home for many years. As a family we were always welcomed and updated by all staff and the nurse on duty. Like all nursing homes during this awful pandemic there has been some very hard and heart-breaking times. During my mother's passing I experienced acts of individual kindness from several staff members that went above and beyond and was most appreciated.
Plus points:- Caring staff, excellent food. Great kitchen staff. Long term carers great. Minus points:- Dirty, understaffed, too many agency staff. No trips, not enough one to one care. Not enough interaction. Not enough staff. Empty promises and no improvements made. Garden/conservatory not used. No bath/shower in 5 months.
Our dedicated Activities Organiser...
I am writing this review with optimism about the future of The Withens. Unfortunately, I have had several issues so far - cleanliness, staff shortages, personal care and the overall running of the home. There now appears to be big changes and improvements - let's hope it does actually get better.
My husband has been in this care home for almost 7 months with dementia and I found the staff are cheerful and helpful. Although he is immobile, he enjoys his meals and eats them all. Every time when I visit him the staff are friendly and helpful.
Thank you for your kind words.
In general, staff make a point of letting visitors know how things are going. Activities are a great help to keeping residents involved.
Thank you for your kind words.
When searching for a suitable care home with 24-hour nursing for my mum The Withens Nursing Home stood out from the others we viewed due to the friendliness of the team and cleanliness of the home. The whole home team including managers, nurses and care staff through to the kitchen, laundry and cleaning staff have been very kind, helpful and supportive to my mum and family during what is a very difficult time.
My mother has settled in very well she says all the staff are lovely. Nothing seems too much trouble. These are plenty of activities and the food is excellent. My family are very pleased our mother is a resident at The Withens Nursing Home.
Very caring staff. The Withens always looked clean with no unpleasant odours. My relative was bedridden for most of the period she was a resident. She was always made as comfortable as possible and handled with great gentleness.
We visit on a regular basis and always find staff working throughout the home. We are asked on every visit if there are any concerns or problems. All in all, we feel reassured that our mother is being well looked after.
The staff are always helpful and friendly. My mum appears comfortable and well cared for. The food is very good. The medical and nursing staff are making sure mum is not in pain and talked to me realistically and kindly about the care options. I really appreciate this - at this stage of life comfort and dignity is essential, whilst a low cholesterol diet is not ... Bravo.
