We were all welcomed on arrival. Communication was excellent. The care and Doctor's involvement when required was remarkable. The well-being of our relative was paramount to all involved so he would have as a good quality of life as possible. We are so grateful and the end-of-life care was sympathetic
and effective.

My sister has been with this home for some time and has greatly benefited from the staff's patience. She is a much calmer person now. Physically, she looks very well, eats well and can have friendly chats with staff; they are good at judging her mood, which means if she wants to sit quietly, she can.
She eats well. They make sure there are always fluids available for her, which is important.
I am very impressed with the manager; she seems to have an endless drive to bring quality care into the home and enthuses the staff to feel the same. That includes entertainment.
I have met pleasant, caring attitudes towards myself and other family members, which are very supportive.
So, thank you, team, for all you do, your skills, your hearts and your hard work.

Mum spent a month in the Julie Richardson Nursing Home. When she went in, I thought that she would not come out! The care and dedication given by the staff at the nursing home has made a huge difference and four weeks later, she came home. We are very happy with the level of care that was given and
the professional support given.

My mother went to Julie Richardson house as an emergency placement, and she was immediately welcomed into the home by the staff. The staff made every effort to get to know her, and quickly recognised her care needs and helped her to settle in what was a difficult time. She was treated with kindness,
respect, patience and compassion throughout her stay. The support and kindness shown to us, as a family, was greatly appreciated.
Reply from Jayanthi Manager, Manager at The Julie Richardson Nursing HomeMany thanks for your kind comments. Our team takes pride in always giving the best care possible. Mum has been here for around 6-months now. It’s reassuring for the family to know Mum is in good hands and being well looked after. The staff are great, always available to talk, answer questions and help with anything that is on your mind. Big thanks to the manager and everyone else who works hard
day and night looking after our loved ones. Mum having to go into a nursing home came as a huge shock to the family, The Julie Richardson nursing home has made it a less stressful and worrying experience.
Reply from Jayanthi Manager, Manager at The Julie Richardson Nursing HomeThank you for your kind review. As a team, we strive to care for our residents to the best of our abilities. I am glad that you had a positive experience when your mother moved in.

I find the staff at the care home to be genuinely caring and respectful. There are always plenty of staff, even when some residents are requiring one to one input. My brother has quickly settled into the home and the staff are always attentive and keep us well informed. My brother has been in the home
for 18 months and I never have any complaints.

My brother has been a resident for over eighteen months and his nursing care has been outstanding. The management and nursing team make every effort to provide for the comfort and well-being of all residents. As well as excellent care and high regard for dignity, I have seen many examples of kindness,
compassion and understanding. This sensitivity and empathy are reassuring and comforting. The quality of food is good and there is an emphasis on generating a homely atmosphere. Activities, including "breath of fresh air" outings, are a regular feature at the home and are very well organised. All residents are included, despite individual limitations. Just one of many examples of that inclusion is visible at Christmas in the home. It is a very happy time and the staff go to considerable lengths to get all of the residents around a (very) long set of tables for lunch so that they are able to celebrate Christmas together. It is a pleasure to see my brother so happy and settled.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.767)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.767) out of 10 for The Julie Richardson Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.792 for The Julie Richardson Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (179 Excellents x 5) + (38 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 221 Ratings = 4.792
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Julie Richardson Nursing Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
