I could not be happier with the care my mother has received since she moved into Shipston Lodge in April this year. The staff are outstanding and can't do enough for mum. The facilities are modern and spotlessly clean. I really look forward to visiting mum there. She is kept stimulated with regular

Mum arrived confused, anxious, withdrawn, and deeply sad. From day one, the staff treated her with incredible compassion, patience, and respect-not just as a patient, but as the strong, proud woman she has always been.
The care team at Banbury Heights truly went above and beyond. They didn't just care
for her-they cared about her.
One of the most touching things was how they helped her rediscover her love for fashion It may seem like a small thing, but for her, it was a big part of feeling like herself again.
Thanks to the unwavering support and love she received, we saw our mum come back to life. She laughed again, engaged with others, and regained her sense of self.

Just had a health and welfare update with the home manager, which served to reinforce the wonderful care that mum receives 24/7. The behind the scenes monitoring that takes place is amazing and shows the holistic approach to care that is undertaken at Shipston Lodge. So as well as the wonderful face
to face care that mum is shown, it is comforting to know what goes on unseen that means mum receives first class attention both medical and practical which means the world to us as a family.

Reply from Michael Morton, Business Project Manager at Shipston Lodge Nursing Home

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. It truly means a great deal to all of us here at Shipston Lodge to know that you feel reassured and supported in the care your mum receives. We are especially touched that you've recognised both the visible and the quieter, behind-the-scenes elements of our care. It's often those unseen moments-whether through detailed monitoring, thoughtful planning, or quiet acts of compassion-that help us deliver the kind of holistic care we strive for every day. Thank you again for taking the time to share such a heartfelt reflection-it lifts our whole team.

Shipston Lodge is a very friendly and welcoming home for both its residents and their families. The staff are helpful, caring and supportive. The amenities cater for all needs and the overall cleanliness and appearance of the home is always excellent. The food is of excellent quality and there is always
a good daily choice of dishes. The care my mother received during her respite and then rehabilitation period was outstanding and she would recommend the home to anyone wishing to move to a care home.

After being pushed over by a neighbour's dog. when I broke my left femur, I had screws and a plate fitted in hospital where I was from the 6th to the 21st of March. I transferred to Shipston Lodge on the 21st of March, where the respite care and nursing has been exceptional. It is run by an excellent
professional manager and is extremely well managed. I found the Indian carers and nurses to be particularly good. The physiotherapists were excellent and I am sad to hear their services have been dispensed with. They have me walking and able to be discharged to live independently again.

We found ourselves needing emergency respite care for my mother in law who is still living at home with carers. The first phone call with this home made me feel at ease. I contacted many in the area, this home just responded quickly and were fantastic. This home is heads and shoulders above many in
the area. This home is lively, has many facilities- There is no gods waiting room atmosphere in this home.
My mother in law is very anti nursing home and this opened her very stubborn eyes to what a nursing home is like. It's caring, friendly and the manager and her team are super professional and should be very proud of themselves as they all make a difference!
My mother in law, who loves to moan and is very fussy, could not through her disappointment find one thing to criticise- the experience in this home has potentially made some difficult future conversations and choices a lot easier . This is all down to the amazing experience in this home- they put some luxury hotels to shame!

Reply from Gabriella Russell, Manager at Shipston Lodge Nursing Home

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind and thoughtful review on carehome.co.uk.We're so pleased that your mother-in-law's stay with us made such a positive impression, especially given her initial hesitation about nursing homes. It means a great deal to us that she felt comfortable, respected and well cared for.Your words about our team being "super professional" and making a real difference truly warmed our hearts. We take great pride in creating a lively, welcoming environment, not just a care facility, but a community and to know that this came across so clearly is the highest compliment we could receive.Thank you again for trusting us with your mother-in-law's care. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if we can be of any support in the future. Many thanks Kind regards,

I booked myself into Esmere Gardens on 7th February 2025 until 14th February 2025. I am an 87 year old lady and on 7th Feb had mastectomy which is a major surgery for me. My experience at Esmere Gardens was wonderful. Everyone was so understanding and friendly, made me feel confident. They couldn't
do enough for me. The food was excellent and they brought it to my room because I had a drainage in and couldn't go to the dining room. They always brought my food in with a smile and a greeting. The carers took my blood pressure and temperature every day. My water was changed everyday as well as my towels. I highly recommend anyone who needs rest or a lovely place to live to go to Esmere Gardens.

I am writing to express our deepest gratitude for the exceptional care and compassion provided to my Mum, during her time at Shipston Lodge Nursing Home.
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the manager and I was immediately struck by the warmth and genuine care that radiated from every member
of her team, (we had tried many homes before we found Shipston) The level of attention and dedication shown to Mum was truly remarkable, the care from the whole team was quite remarkable, those Nurses treated Mum like she was their own Mum, never losing patience and always filled with compassion, there are too many names to mention but we appreciate every single one of them thank you.
The manager manages the care home and I've never seen anyone as dedicated, hard working caring. Thank you.
I wholeheartedly recommend Shipston Lodge Nursing Home to anyone seeking a loving and supportive home for their loved ones.

Do not send family members here. Worst care home ever. Stole money from my grandmother had to get the police involved. When we confronted the staff they served notice for my gran to leave (best thing to happen as the place is so bad). The managers are awful and constantly lie. Worst thing I did was
send my family here. Should have believed the reviews I read. Levels of neglect is unreal. I visited plenty of times and its so poor. Dirty beds and rooms, unresponsive staff, latest was toilets being out of order for 4 days, took videos off this. We constantly took pictures as was so bad, had to be reported. Would not have give this place a single star if this this site would allow it, this place needs to be shut down!

I had visited Esmere Gardens a few times with some local community groups in the last 6 months or so and was so impressed by the cleanliness, the atmosphere and the staff just from visiting the foyer that when I came to visit a friend who was a palliative care resident up until she passed away I was
even more taken aback!
The room was like a 5 star hotel, my friend and any guests were made to feel very welcome when we visited, her family were invited to visit any time and to be included in any activities, we especially liked the birds of prey recently.
Having worked in care homes before, Esmere Gardens does not have the look or feel of a care home there are no buzzers or bells going off, no staff members racing around seeing to residents. It's all very calm and clean and I take my hat off to every member of staff that work hard to keep it the very best! I'd like to say a special thank you to one special lady who despite her own sadness helped us through ours. Thank you all!

My father stayed at Esmere Gardens for two months respite care following an operation. From our initial enquiry through every aspect of his care our experience has been excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and each staff member's concern for my father's comfort and welfare has been exceptional. All
his medical needs were taken care of by the very professional and caring nursing staff and we were always kept updated. The home is beautifully furnished and extremely clean with a very homely feel to it. His own room was very well appointed and comfortable, the meals delicious and the variety of activities outstanding. The all inclusive charging structure is very reassuring. We can't thank the staff enough for making my father's stay such a good experience for us all. They even gave him a birthday party when he celebrated a milestone birthday.
