This is the third home my mother has stayed in and is by far the best. The decor and the building are a bit dated and tired. That being said, every time I visit my mother she is happy, calm and contented. She also looks well cared for, clean and tidy. The staff are polite, well mannered and caring.
I would happily recommend this care home to anyone looking for a safe, secure, kind residence for a loved one.

While I have no experience of any other nursing homes with which to make comparisons, I can say that all the staff that I have encountered on my regular visits have been very pleasant and friendly to both myself and my mother.

Staff are very friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The food according to my relative is also very good. The bedroom he has is very light and airy. I think the staff work very hard to make the atmosphere as homely for the residents as much as possible.

Both the nursing and care staff at Julie Richardson are first rate. They all treat my father with the dignity that is so important. The nurses are skilled, kind and attentive. They are responsive to my father's needs and promptly address any concerns our family may have. The care staff treat my father
as a loved family member and provide excellent personal care, exercise, entertainment and food. I am pleased to say my father is as content and comfortable as possible thanks to all the people caring for him and their mix of good humour and expertise.

Staff are excellent and very attentive to my father-in-law. I feel everyone goes out of their way to assist or help in any way needed. Meals look good for the few times I have been here at mealtime. I do, however, feel his room is tired and would benefit from some different flooring other than carpet.
Otherwise, so far so good.

My 95 year old mother in law was moved from the hospital into a "hospital bed" in this nursing home. She was recovering from pneumonia but also had Lewy body dementia. We were concerned at the time as we knew nothing about this home. Our concerns were groundless. This place is a gem. I really cannot
praise the staff highly enough for their dedication, professionalism, patience and kindness they showed to my mother in law. It is never a nice experience for the relatives in moving a loved one into a nursing home and we were no exception. However, on meeting the care home manager and her staff we realised Mum was in safe hands and that she would receive excellent care. She was in the nursing home for a total of 8 weeks before she was taken ill again, with pneumonia and rushed to the hospital where she passed away on Boxing Day 2017. Many thanks again to the nursing home staff for allowing Mum to keep her dignity to the end.

I am very pleased with the care my wife receives at the care home. I call to see her most days. If I don't visit, I ring her up.
She is happy at the home. She is treated well and with respect. She likes the food that is served. I would recommend the Julie Richardson Nursing Home to anybody.

I just feel I should say that my dad was in a care home just outside Banbury before he died and there is no way that dad was looked after or treated as well as mom is now. The staff are all brilliant, they look after mom really well and you can look forward to a smile and very friendly chat when visiting.
When calling the home this morning, I thought just how well mom looked. A great home with great people. A care home to look forward to. (Book me a bed)!

I visit once a week different days. The home is always nice and clean and I find standards high. Staff are extremely pleasant and the standards again high. My husband is well cared for and I would say in his own little world very happy. Thank you to the manager for very well trained staff.

These comments reflect non-scheduled visits over the past year. The nursing staff are always there to provide an update on her health and well-being. They contact me immediately if there is an incident - however trivial.
Staff are always friendly and show compassion when dealing with residents. The
environment is always cheerful and happy. They focus on creating interesting and entertaining activities. Outings are a frequent event.

I regularly visit my brother. I am impressed with the kind, caring attitude shown towards my brother. I feel the staff work well together and give a homely fun atmosphere. They deal professionally with sometimes challenging behaviour. I love the fact that my brother has been able to visit town, National
Trust properties etc. My brother also especially enjoys visits e.g from musicians. I feel efforts are also made to treat each person as an individual.

My mother died at the end of June 2016 aged 98 after three and a half years in the nursing home. Her overall mobility and ability had started to deteriorate and she needed more specialist care, which I am happy she received a this nursing home. She became bedridden and needed a specific diet, experiencing
difficulty in swallowing. The staff and cook were always available to update me on her condition and I was called at home following Doctors visits. On a personal note, the proprietor and manager were with my mother as she rapidly sank into a deep sleep, and the manager was with me, as she passed away and remained after to support me. I have nothing but praise.

My mum has been in this home for 3 years and although she can be challenging, the staff are patient and kind. They treat her with dignity and respect. After a recent stay in hospital following an operation, the staff took great care in meeting her additional needs and the improvement in mum is beyond
expectations.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.752)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.752) out of 10 for The Julie Richardson Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.752 for The Julie Richardson Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (184 Excellents x 5) + (42 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 234 Ratings = 4.752
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Julie Richardson Nursing Home is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
