Green Gates nursing care home is most professionally run and very caring towards their patients. They are responsive to all requests and all their ancillary services are provided well. I was impressed at the very efficient way the management dealt with my request for care. The deputy management is exemplary too! For all staff, thank you, Green Gates, I will recommend your care.
Thank you for your review. I'm so pleased to hear about your positive experience and appreciate your comments of our home and hope that you will come and stay with us again for some respite care.
Mother is happy. I am happy. Very friendly staff. Really caring ethos. Nothing is too much bother.
Thank you for your review. I'm so pleased to hear that your mother is happy, this must give you such peace of mind knowing that she is safe and well cared for.
You looked after my sister very well under difficult circumstances. There were certain members of staf, especially one, who could not have been more helpful and went beyond the call of duty.
I cannot thank Green Gates enough for all they did.

The staff are very caring and kind. I have found no complaints and even if I did, I have no doubt that these would be quickly corrected.

I spent one week at Green Gates while an accessible bathroom has installed at home. I was accepted as a full member of the home, joined in activities, had lunch with other residents and met and talked with visiting carers. I chose this home because of the warmth and welcome of the manager. I judged it was efficiently run with enough and well-trained staff who were well managed. Residents were respected well, understood and encouraged to be themselves and be comfortable.
Thank you for your review. I'm so glad to hear that you felt at home and enjoyed the activities on offer and made new friends. I hope that you will come and stay with us again for some respite care.
Overall the experience of my late wife's time in Green Gates was very positive, and a better experience than we could have achieved if she had been at home in those last 5-6 months. I am grateful to the staff for being not just tolerant but supportive of what must have been at least minor eccentricities; my staying with my wife almost 24/7; the vegetarian diet; the early morning walks while my wife was still mobile. As she became less mobile she sometimes chafed against the limitations of her movement, but with hindsight, I can see how sensitively as well as effectively the staff handled sometimes difficult situations. It was a caring personal relationship that several staff were able to form with my wife and myself in those few months.
So sorry to hear of your loss, please accept our condolences. Thank you for your review and kind words. I'm sure that in time when you look back on the time that your wife spent with us it will give you comfort knowing that she was well cared for.
My father came to Green Gates Care Home for palliative care and spent his last 10 days there. The staff were so compassionate as well as professional. My mother and I felt supported at every stage and the room was very pleasant and well equipped. My father was well cared for in every way and despite the severity of his condition and poor diagnosis, he did not suffer at all.
We were all treated as individuals with respect and dignity. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Green Gates Care Home!
So sorry to hear of your loss, please accept our condolences. Thank you for your review. I'm so glad to hear that your dad did not suffer and was well cared for and that you and your family were treated as individuals and given the support that you needed.
That was my second visit.
During the Easter holidays, I was there for three days.
On both occasions, I was made very welcome by a very competent management.
The staff were wonderful, kind, caring and no request was too much trouble for them.
I felt very safe and well cared for.
Thank you for your review. I'm so glad to hear that you have enjoyed our stay with us and hopefully you will come and stay with us again for some respite care.
They could not have done more for my father. The staff were amazing and he felt cared for and valued as an individual.

Slight negatives to mention would be the fact that specific information relating to my father was not requested on his arrival, in fact, the information was only requested from my mother a week before he died. Because of this, he was frequently offered some food and drinks items he never liked, e.g tea and coffee.
Also, specific instructions given to the staff relating to the nature of his stay were frequently contradicted, again down to lack of written information about his condition.
On the whole, though, the staff work very hard in trying circumstances to provide a good level of care.

The room she was in was large and comfortable and overlooked an enclosed garden. Meals were varied and of good quality. In addition, there was a leisure program that included recitals, sing-a-longs, day trips and more. I am very grateful to all at Green Gates for their care of my late wife, and would not hesitate to recommend it to others who need care.
So sorry to hear of your loss. Please accept our condolences. It is lovely to know that your wife was well looked after. I'm sure when you look back on her time with us you will have some lovely memories.
Mum was only with Green Gates under a week but the duty of care was detailed, thorough and thoughtful. The staff caring and committed. She passed peacefully. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. While we, of course, extend our condolences to you, we are glad to hear that we were able to provide a high quality of care and peace for your mother's final days.
The care at Green Gates given to both patients and relatives is exceptional. My mother was admitted without any opportunity to take a look around beforehand as she was in urgent need of care. This was frightening for all concerned but everyone at Green Gates have been reassuring and kind throughout her stay. My mum has felt safe and well cared for and her visitors have been made welcome. I feel fortunate that she could stay here and would have no qualms if she had to come back.

My mother lived her for two and a half years until July 2016. The home presents well, large reception rooms, pleasant gardens, bright and welcoming communal areas. Staff are well trained and hard working, genuinely fond of the residents. I never saw any unkindness of disrespect fo staff to residents. But they did work very long shifts and there never seemed to be enough on duty between 4pm and 8pm when there were many demands on their time. The food was adequate but nutritional, sometimes overly complicated there was a lot of wastage as residents left food often. Coffee was instant. We used to take in yoghurts, fruit and cake for my mother . Vegetarians were not well served. The default was stodgy pasta bake. Activities improved a lot over the two and a half years. The activities organiser achieved wonders on a tiny budget. But inevitably residents spent a lot of time on their own, even though the family were welcomed and encouraged to visit anytime. During my mother's last illness the staff showed great care. We were so very glad that she was able to be nursed there until the end.

The only thing I would like to see is a commode in every room, which I have here at home, if I had not been wearing tena pants I would have been in trouble not by the staff but I would have been embarrassed. I must say how comfortable the bed was.

I come into the home once a fortnight to help out with activities. The staff are very warm and friendly. They seem to enjoy their jobs as they are always smiling. The food is excellent, well-balanced and nutritious. Activities are varied. The home has a good connection with the local community. Great interaction with residents and staff. Compassionate support to all residents and visitors. Excellent home.

Meet the Team (3)

I am the home manager at Green Gates. I worked in the NHS for some years after qualifying as a nurse. My speciality was orthopaedics. When I had my first child I decided to leave the NHS and move into the care sector. I have now been a manager for approximately 10 years.
What I love most about my job is the variety - every day is different.
Outside of work, I live in Bicester with my husband and two children who are 7 and 12 years old. I enjoy reading and travelling.

I joined Bupa in 2018, initially as a carer. I completed my NVQ3 and became a senior carer before moving to the financial administrator role around 18 months ago. My job involves managing the financial accounts of all residents and keeping the system up to date. It also involves ordering, payments, managing petty cash and completing financial reports.
Before joining Bupa, I worked in retail management and various HR positions for about 16 years. Following my nan getting dementia - which progressed very quickly - and spending a lot of time with her, I thought a career in care might be something I could be good at. When I turned 40, I bit the bullet and applied at Green Gates.
I love being able to help people - whether it be residents, staff or visitors. If I can do something that makes their life a little easier or puts a smile on their face, I can go home happy.
I am a confident, hard-working woman and pride myself on doing a good job. I have RA which I manage well and do not let hold me back. I have a partner called Dave and one son who is nearly 25. Outside of work, I like music, books and a good horror film!

I qualified as a nurse in 1998 after completing a diploma in general nursing and midwifery in India. I worked in a hospital in India until 2002 before moving to the UK. I have worked for Bupa since April 2005.
I love my job - every day is different at Green Gates and I enjoy building relationships with our residents and their families.
I have two children and live with my family in Oxford. Outside of work, I love keeping active - going to the gym and for walks. I also like going to India to see my family and friends at least once every year.
