My mother has been treated with dignity and respect since she became a resident at The Homestead. The staff have been fantastic with her care. I can highly recommend any family to place their loved ones in The Homestead. The staff keep us up to date with activities, that they carry out and we have been encouraged to join in.

My father stayed at The Homestead for a very short time approximately 4 months. During that time, however, I could not fault the care that he received. The staff were absolutely lovely and I know he enjoyed their company and attention in his final months. It made his life happier and much more comfortable. The facilities and rooms were always clean and food excellent. He was treated with respect dignity and friendship throughout his stay. I cannot thank the staff enough.

All staff and carers are very vigilant in knowing each individual's needs. Food and drink are always at hand and each resident is treated with respect as to their likes and dislikes. Nothing is too much trouble and care is taken seriously with regards to meals and fluid intake etc. Overall the care and atmosphere within the home make it a very happy place to live. My mother has been there for four years now and each day she smiles with sheer contentment and wanting for nothing.

Previously in another care home, which was also excellent, she was moved to Carterton with care and dignity by taxi, accompanied by her key worker. The following day, the new home held a birthday party for her. Very impressed by MHA main office organisation and the obvious culture of care for such vulnerable and confused residents. Staff always welcoming. The charity ethos of MHA clearly extends beyond the "financial bottom line". Concerns and problems of other homes in the media; is not visible or present here.

Reply from Caroline Anderson, Home Manager at The Homestead

We are so pleased to hear that your partner is settling well at The Homestead and was able to enjoy her birthday party the day after admission. It is always great to hear when we get things right. Thank you.

Generally, I feel dad is looked after very well, however, I feel the entertainment lets this home down. When he arrived, it was good but now the usual lady left and was replaced and it's not so good.

Reply from Helen Nairn, Area Manager at The Homestead

Thank you for your review of the care your Dad receives at The Homestead, it is great to hear that you would recommend us. We are a bit concerned that you should rate our home cleanliness and activities poorly since generally speaking this scores highly. Of course we want to address any concerns...

Everything is satisfactory with the home. Items go missing on the odd occasion but they are found eventually. We are happy that we found this place for mum. She has been with them 2 and a half years now and all in all she is happy and it has taken a big load of worry off my shoulders.

The Homestead provides an excellent care provision and is a beacon in the field of social care. We chose this care home with considerable attention to detail about what was offered and have not been disappointed. My mother has been cared for over 5 years and nothing has been too much trouble for the staff at this home. The manager is approachable, professional and oversees a service with strongly inclusive values, ably supported by caring staff and a warm and friendly chaplain. I have recommended it to other families.

I'm so impressed by the kind and caring staff at the Homestead. My Granny has lived there for several months now and they are always so pleasant to my Granny and the whole family even though they do a very challenging job.
The manager is fantastic and despite probably being busy makes an effort to chat to us and knows all the residents.
The carers really understand how to look after people with dementia - always giving people choice and encouraging everyone to get involved - whether it be running the vacuum round, singing or dancing. They always seem to have entertainment. At home my Granny would just sit and sleep, whereas here she's kept very busy and often smiling while singing along at music sessions. Her friends there love to dance and the carers get up and dance with them which is lovely.
The Chaplain is brilliant and both residents and employees really think the world of her support.
We can't thank everyone enough for how they look after my Granny and we have such peace of mind knowing she's in safe hands.

I would highly recommend the Homestead.

My mum has been I the home for over two years. The staff have always been very friendly and do an amazing job of looking after the residents. The activities are well organised and very frequent. They have musicians visiting, church services and events for the family, fireworks, xmas fayre etc. My mum seems happy and settled at The Homestead and we have peace of mind knowing she is being so well looked after.

My sister has spent the past five years at the Homestead. On admission we were advised she would only have about a year left to live. The dedication and care received during this time has been second to none. The care staff were fully aware of my sisters support needs. The home is beautiful and clean. The manager always seems busy but never fails to stop and ensure all is well. I cannot thank the staff enough for all they done for my sister, I would have no hesitation in recommending this home to others.
