Churchfields, rated Outstanding by the CQC in March 2020, is situated at the heart of the beautiful village of Cassington in West Oxfordshire, close to Eynsham and Witney.

Churchfields is part of the Premium Care group and offers residential, dementia, nursing and end of life care for older people, provided in a friendly, warm and loving environment.

Life at Churchfields is centred on its residents, but there are many people who contribute to making life at the home so unique and family, friends and the local community are included in daily life wherever possible.

Strong leadership and investment in excellent training are at the heart of the high-quality care on offer at Churchfields. All of the staff members are carefully selected for their sense of compassion, commitment and desire to work as part of a professional care team.

Funded nursing care will be applied for by the home upon admission of a resident. These fees are given by the local authority and are paid to the home so that supplies and equipment can be purchased to aid the care of our residents.

My mother was at death's door in her old care home. After getting an emergency move, which took weeks, she finally got into Churchfields Care Home and with the care and attention she received is so much better and happier and so are we as we don’t have to worry about her anymore.

My grandmother was feeling very apprehensive about going to stay in a care home but the staff at Churchfields Care Home made her feel so welcome, her worries quickly disappeared.
The staff were always on hand to answer any questions and my grandmother thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the activities,
especially the pub quiz!
I cannot thank the Churchfields team enough for all that they have done.

My mother has been a resident here for one month. I have found nothing but kindness and support for her. She is stronger than when in her bungalow; she was shaley and very slow at doing everything. She goes out from here tomorrow, 14.2.23, and if all goes well will cope at home. Thank you all.

Lots of ongoing activities taking place both within the home and in the wider community. Everyone seems very friendly and cheerful. The food is good and the staff are well trained and treat everyone with dignity.

My mother has severe dementia and many health problems and is immobile. Since coming to Churchfields she has blossomed. She is more responsive, so much happier and has been kept pain-free at all times. She is included in activities and is now mixing with other residents which hadn't been happening for
her in her previous home! The staff are just lovely, nothing is too much trouble for them and they are really proactive. Her nursing care has been fantastic. Churchfields feels like home. So glad that we found them.

My husband entered the care home needing "end-of-life" care after a massive stroke. He needed every assistance possible and the marvellous staff gave it and more with the utmost care and compassion. My family and I stayed with my husband for the remainder of his days and were all treated so well: better

On December 20th 2021 it was my mum's 91st Birthday. With the help of all the team at Churchfields she was able to have a party in the hub so she could have her family around her at last. From then until her death on 5th January 2022 she was shown love and compassion from all the staff and her care
was outstanding even though sometimes she could be difficult especially when it came to the LFT test as she did not like that swab at all.

Churchfields is the most beautiful, caring home you could ever wish to have a much-loved family member living in. My mum was so loved and looked after. We knew that we didn't need to worry at all, as the staff treated her like their own family, from making a special birthday cake to taking her out for
little trips. My mum had dementia, and the staff all kept he occupied and engaged with her. The home was simply the best, and I cannot recommend it enough; it's fantastic.

The care my mother is receiving at Chursfields is absolutely wonderful. From her admission from a stay in the hospital, they have been kind, professional, compassionate and thoroughly mindful of her and our needs and emotions. She is now settled and enjoys the reassurance that comes with 24-hour care
whilst always being mindful of current restrictions. The staff have enabled her family to visit and maintained contact. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Churchfields provides exceptional care. All staff go out of their way to do the very best for residents, who are always treated with the utmost respect and dignity. There is a very happy atmosphere in the home, and lots of activities are arranged to keep residents alert and engaged. During this lockdown,
they have gone over and above to keep residents and family in touch. Mum requires nursing care, which is always of the highest standard, and she remains well and happy. Exceptional!

My father has been a resident at Churchfields for 15-months. During this time, I have been impressed by the care he has received. The staff are friendly, kind and patient. There are lots of activities to keep the residents stimulated and involved. During the Covid outbreak, I have been comforted in

The staff and management provide a high quality of care to Mum and are like her second family. Staff turnover is low, which means the staff are cheerful and makes mum happy as she has a consistency of care. At the height of the Covid outbreak, the staff were still proving excellent care, PPE was not
a problem and they got on top of testing really quickly and the communication was honest and regular, so we knew exactly what was going on. One of the staff even turned their hand to hairdressing and the activities have continued in a modified way during Covid to prevent mum from getting bored. The home does not feel like a care home, but like a hotel and the furnishings and facilities are lovely. Mum has everything that she wants there and her health, both mental and physical has improved greatly since moving in. The staff are so quick to pick up if mum is not feeling well, getting the nurse straight away. We are looking forward to spending time with mum on distanced visits soon.

I found the premises well appointed and welcoming. The interior was decorated to a high standard and very clean. A member of staff took me to my Uncle, who was enjoying a cup of tea. I was invited for a cup of tea. Very pleasing. We spent time talking and enjoying the beautiful view of the gardens.

Through hard work and dedication, Alex progressed to Senior Carer, then Care Practitioner, and now proudly serves as the Clinical Deputy at Churchfields Care Home.


For Alex, this role is far more than just a job; it’s a deep responsibility he holds close to his heart. He finds caring for the elderly to be one of the most rewarding and meaningful experiences in the world.

Andrea Lyne

Job Title: Administrator

Joined: 2022

Andrea has worked at Churchfields for the past three years as the Administrator. She takes great pride in her role and truly enjoys being part of the team.

Job Title: Head Chef

Josh has worked in catering for the last 16 years across a variety of venues, including restaurants, pubs, universities, and care facilities.

Nikki Burch

Nikki has worked at Churchfields Care Home for the past six and a half years, initially as a Senior Carer, a role she thoroughly enjoyed due to her passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred care to each individual resident.


Earlier this year, Nikki transitioned into the Activities Team as the Activities Lead. She loves bringing joy to the residents through engaging activities and holistic therapies. As a qualified Reiki practitioner, Nikki offers alternative therapies such as Reiki and Indian head massage, helping to enhance residents’ overall well-being.

Brian Grant

Job Title: Maintenance Operative

Joined: 2021

I originally started as a freelance painter & decorator but then came on board full time as the Maintenance Operative, where I work between Rosebank & Churchfields, spending a few days per week in each care home.


I started my working career many moons ago as an apprentice engineer, which was really interesting, especially working within the stunning university buildings in Oxford. After this, I used my new skills to work with the farming industries, helping to erect specialist farming buildings. I then moved on to own my own shop in Faringdon, selling antiques and collectables. I have also been in the painting & decorating business on and off since the 80’s.


I really enjoy the care industry, I will always make time to stop and have a chat to any residents about their day.

Suzanne

Suzanne Manners

Job Title: Head Housekeeper

Joined: 2021

Suzanne began working at Churchfields Care Home in 2021 as a Housekeeper before progressing to the role of Head Housekeeper, a position she has held for the past two years.


In this role, Suzanne takes great pride in working alongside her team to ensure the home remains clean, tidy, and welcoming. She is dedicated to providing a high standard of service for the residents and finds real satisfaction in contributing to their comfort and wellbeing.


Suzanne also serves as the home’s Infection Control Champion, a responsibility she takes very seriously to help maintain a safe and healthy environment for all.


One of the most rewarding aspects of her role is being able to support the residents and spend meaningful time engaging with them.

Fiona

Fiona Charles

Job Title: Operations Director

Fiona has over 30 years of experience working within the healthcare sector and is a Registered Nurse, remaining active on the NMC register. Her management career started as a charge nurse and then as a ward manager within the NHS, working in wards specialising in care for older adults enduring mental health conditions and dementia.


For the last 15 years, Fiona has worked in the Care Home Sector, taking on various Management roles, including Registered Manager, Regional Support Manager, Clinical and Quality Manager, Compliance Consultant and Operations Manager.


Remaining very hands-on clinically, she is passionate about supporting our management teams to deliver exceptional person-centred care, ensuring all individuals can maintain their independence and enjoy the excellent quality of life our care homes offer.

Job Title: Group Lifestyle Manager

In July 2025, I was honoured to become the Group Lifestyle Manager for Premium Care Group, where I oversee and develop lifestyle programmes across all our care homes to enhance residents’ wellbeing and quality of life.


Before this, I was Care Manager at Weald Hall, having started my career there as a care assistant. I quickly built strong relationships with residents and the care team. My passion has always been to make a genuine difference, caring for every resident as if they were part of my own family.

Sonya Virdee

Job Title: Group Clinical Manager

Sonya has been a qualified nurse for over 22 years, with extensive experience in both Acute and community settings across various National Health Care Services (NHS) in Northwest London. She has also worked in the Middle East with the Government on projects including reducing amputation rates and promoting awareness on wound management. In 2022, Sonya transitioned into the Nursing Home industry to utilise her broad knowledge and skills in managing clients with chronic conditions.


Sonya initially qualified as a general nurse in 2023 and went on to attain further qualifications, including Tissue Viability (specialising in managing all types of wounds, including cancerous wounds, pressure ulcers, and leg ulcers), Teaching and Co-mentoring, Leadership and Management. She also holds a master’s degree in Health and Social Person-Centred Care and a Meta Master's in Behaviour Studies.


She was previously the Home Manager at Kingfishers Care Home in Bourne End, where she had the privilege of being part of a diverse, modern, and dynamic management team at Premier Health Care. In her new role as Group Clinical Manager within the Premium Care Group, Sonya will be using her expertise to support the homes in achieving and maintaining high clinical standards.


In her spare time, Sonya enjoys reading and watching documentaries.
