Oaken Holt Nursing and Residential Home in Farmoor provides the highest standard of residential and residential dementia care for up to 43 elderly residents including trial stays, short stays, convalescent and permanent care for individuals or couples.

Set within 23 acres of beautiful gardens and parklands in the heart of rural Oxfordshire, Oaken Holt is a magnificent country estate. The stunning Victorian house offers a mix of ensuite bedrooms and full suites in a setting that retains a wealth of period features and a luxurious standard of furnishings and equipment to ensure a high standard of comfort and care.

Adjacent to the main house, the Coach House is designed for those that prefer a more intimate setting and offers high quality care for up to 12 residents.

Dining is an important part of the day to day life at Oaken Holt. A qualified chef and their team take great pride in producing varied and appetising menus, providing a nutritious and balanced diet. The cuisine is carefully chosen to meet each resident's nutritional needs. The professional care team works closely with residents to provide personalised care. Residents benefit from a broad range of activities with dedicated wellbeing coordinators who ensure a varied and stimulating programme are available to residents daily.

Wytham House, a purpose built home located within the Oaken Holt grounds, provides high-quality residential dementia and nursing dementia care for up to 40 elderly residents.

The care, compassion and kindness shown by every single member of the Oaken Holt team has been incredible. Every decision and action has always had my mum's best interest at heart. Oaken Holt is a home that cares, not just a care home. It's clear that the relationship that the team have the external

My mother has been a resident of the Coach House at Oakenholt for 3.5 years. The care she has received has been excellent, and the staff are attentive and very responsive to requests. It is a big plus that there are qualified nurses on call at all times. The house is kept very clean and additional services
such as hairdressing, physio etc, are all very good. The activities team are good fun and keeps everyone entertained.
In addition, my father received excellent end-of-life care at Wytham House and passed without distress. Covid was a tough time for all, and the staff have done a great job. Thank you.

Oaken Holt holds a special place in my heart, the team have cared for my grandfather for many years, and I can’t thank them enough. The manager is a kind, passionate and caring man. He is always there when I or the family need to talk with him. The home is a lovely place and is in beautiful surroundings.
The grounds are lovely, and it is a peaceful place to stay. I thank the team for everything they do.

Oaken Holt is set in beautiful surroundings and offers a fabulous cafe. Friendly staff - very helpful. Nice choice of food. Very nice rooms and spacious. All with ensuite bathrooms. All-week activities, with live entertainment on some days.

I find the staff very approachable and apparently with plenty of time available to talk, although clearly fully occupied. I am pleasantly surprised to be addressed by my first name, although only a weekly visitor. Similarly pleasantly surprised to often be offered tea and a biscuit when with my friend
when he gets his. Rating for food and drink cannot be personal, as I cannot properly comment on value for money, as I have very little experience with Residential or Care Homes. It seems a bit expensive to me, especially as my friend has so far felt unable to join in with communal meals and is able to participate in very few social activities. However, that is his choice, and I can see just how much is provided! However, he seems so much better here than he was at home that value for money is clearly high. Rating for food and drink is on what I see but not experience.

Mum is very well cared for, and the staff understand her needs well. They are respectful of her wishes but are keen to encourage her to be sociable and more active. They are genuinely pleased if she enjoyed an activity.
We like seeing photos of her as she cannot remember what she has done in the week,
so can't tell us.
The nursing staff are particularly diligent, always communicating well and getting on top of any illnesses quickly.

For the eighteen months that my mother was a resident, I had an overwhelmingly positive experience of Oaken Holt Nursing and Residential Home. Even during the difficult Covid period when access was limited. Mum thoroughly enjoyed her time there, right up until the end. The carers were all wonderful
and developed close bonds with her. The movement team were sympathetic to her needs and kept us well informed. Mum developed close friendships with her fellow residents encouraged by the games and other activities she played with them every day. This had the added benefit of keeping her brain active. As she eventually declined her nursing care was exemplary. A group of residents and carers even attended her funeral, which says it all.

For us it is always a difficult decision to put Mum into residential respite care even if just for a short while. It was important that we found somewhere which felt consistent, had a high standard of care and was genuinely warm, welcoming, caring and calm for our mother. The price was high, however
all our needs were met at Oakenholt, so a logical choice.
We had visited on three separate occasions before making the decision and each time the reception from management and staff was always good. During her stay, my mother was also calm, clean and comfortable here for nearly three weeks of respite. The staff were friendly and attentive as well as open and communicated well with us when needed and for my mother, who has Alzheimer's, we found the staff considerate to her as an individual. They were gently encouraging and inclusive, and so she had a good stay and we were able to enjoy our holiday. On our return, she was calm and content which enabled a smooth transition on her return home.

Good staff. Well managed.
The building at Oaken Holt is perfect.
The food available was poor. You can have a limited menu if the quality is high. Especially if you are charging above-average rates. The home is clean and appears to look after its residents well.

My parents have both been at Oakenholt for nearly four years now. The first year was very good, then due to a change of management things went downhill rather dramatically. Lack of staff, particularly at weekends and not much activities if any at weekends. However the new Manager has been a breath of
fresh air and stamped his mark on the home and the residents and staff seem a lot happier again. There could still be more going on at weekends but he has proved to be a more than positive appointment.

Overall we were happy with the care Mum received. The staff were all friendly and made Mum feel at home. This was the first time she had been in respite so an anxious time for us and her. She was pleased with the quality of the meals and found her room comfortable. As Mum suffers from dementia it was
difficult questioning her about her week but we can only be guided by her saying that she would go back at any time!

After reviewing a number of care homes, I made the decision that the environment that I experienced at Oaken Holt would be perfect for my mother's needs, and I was not disappointed. The management team are all excellent, taking the time to understand my mother's needs and showing complete confidence
that these could be met. From the moment we arrived, the staff were fantastic, and I was reassured that I had made the right decision. My overriding memory is the calm feel and the engagement that the staff provided. This has been by far the best experience we have received from any local care home, and would fully recommend it to others.

My 98-year-old father had been living independently but with increasing care needs (Parkinson's and heart failure). It became clear in August that he needed 24h-our care and decided that it was time to find a care home. We visited Oaken Holt on a Tuesday and he moved in on the Friday.
It is a wonderful
place, with a fantastic homely feeling and lovely buildings and surrounds. But this is what really makes it stand out (and I have a medical background): the staff were amazingly welcoming (sincerely so), irrespective of their professional background and one could not wish for better care and attention than that given to my father and visitors. He continued to deteriorate and within a few days, it was clear that he was nearing the end. Again the manner in which this was handled was exemplary and he died comfortably and in peace. The staff were great with the family, enabling us to be with him day and night for his last days. Nothing was too much and we are eternally grateful.

My mother recently became a resident of Oaken Holt. My mother struggled with the change but the manager and all staff members have been exemplary in their care and attention to detail in helping my mother with this transition. I can't thank all members of staff enough.

I came in for respite while my career was on holiday and felt the care was so good for my needs as I am unable to wash, dress etc. I can walk a little but decided I need more care.
The staff are lovely and the food is also very good. I particularly like taking part in quizzes and bingo. Through the
sunny day, it was nice to sit outside with the other residents. I am very happy in my room and love the views of the grounds.

Care exemplary. Mother can be very difficult to clean but they gently persevere. As she now needs regular turning and help with drinking they are totally on the case.
I appreciate that they have been willing to keep her where she is even though she has Dementia and they now have a special Dementia
unit.
