My Mother in Law is well cared for by the staff. She has been in Mill House for almost 5 years and age 97 soon. We were informed her food would be liquidised. This is not always happening? Given grapes with skin on - a choking potential. Aware she doesn't like what she calls "slops"!! Unfortunately complains about food all the time. The home has been decorated and refurbished to a good standard. Due to deafness, very hard to sit downstairs and have a conversation with other residents. She is lonely.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review for our home, it is good to hear that you find your Mother-in-law to be well cared for. With regards to food, our residents' dietary requirements are reviewed as and when their needs change, at Mill House we offer a wide range of pureed food to cater...
Made to feel very welcome by all the staff. Facilities are great food great and hot too. Had a wonderful stay and cannot recommend the home highly enough.

The care Mother gets is first class, from the day she came here over 4 years ago.
Great team all round.
Many many thanks.

On my first visit to Mill House, I was struck by how friendly the staff are. Everyone was happy to help and to answer questions I had. The home is very clean, nicely decorated and has a homely feel. I understand building works are expected any day which will tidy the outside of the building up. All the staff I have seen with Mum are extremely kind.
Thank you for your lovely comments about our home. It is wonderful to hear how helpful you have found our team, they will be delighted to hear your feedback.
Mum was moved to Mill House in June after suffering a stroke. She had Alzheimer's disease. We all immediately felt at home and were welcomed by the wonderful staff of all levels. They constantly encouraged Mum to join the other residents and nothing seemed too much trouble. Unfortunately Mum passed away in December but thanks to the care and thoughtfulness of Mill House staff, her passing was very comfortable and dignified. I would thoroughly recommend this lovely home which will become even better with the Manager at the helm!

Your lovely comments will be passed on to the Home Manager and team. We pride ourselves on our high level of care so the team will be delighted to hear your feedback, thank you once again.
She was expertly cared for and, just as importantly cherished by the wonderful staff.
Mum sadly passed in December, her passing was comfortable and dignified with her immediate family by her side. The staff took great care of us during this difficult time.
I can't recommend this home enough. the surroundings are lovely as is the food and the staff are dedicated. They go above and beyond to ensure our loved ones have the best possible care.
Thank you for your kind words about our home, we are pleased to hear that you describe our team as 'wonderful'. At Mill House, we pride ourselves on the high standard of care that we offer, so it is great to hear that they took fantastic care of your Mum as well as your family during this time....
My mother was a resident at Mill House for about 8 years until she passed away in November 2018. During these years the staff have done their best to provide good care. I have felt that staffing levels have not always been sufficient for residents to have as much attention/swift answers to call buttons, as they would like. This has improved recently and the activities for residents are, now, very good and more consistent than in previous years. I have, on the whole, been happy with the care given to my mother by the hard-working staff with some being especially kind and supportive to us relatives as she became frail. I have not had much contact with management which changed recently.
Thank you for taking the time to review our home, we are pleased to hear that you think the team have been hard-working, kind and supportive whilst caring for your mother. At Mill House, we strive to provide a high standard of care and since being under new management, have recently been able to...
My wife came out of the hospital after Christmas and Mill House Nursing Home could not have been more welcoming and helpful. They very kindly did an assessment on Christmas Eve and she moved in on the day after Boxing Day. The manager, administrative staff, nurses and carers have all done everything they could to welcome us, to look after us and help us feel at home. We are very grateful.
From the moment mum was taken through the door at Mill House the staff were wonderful, friendly and constant. I was very hesitant with mum going in and had my fears but they were all dispelled within 24 hrs. I cannot express my gratitude enough for making mums last days memorable and comfortable...thank you, you're all amazing.
I previously brought my friend to this home when they had an open event, garden party, concert and Xmas Fayre and we were always made welcome.
So I was pleased when I learnt her family had chosen the Mill House for her care.
Kind, caring, friendly, a wonderfully happy atmosphere prevails through the entire complex - thank you!
Everyone is treated as family and this is most definitely "a home" and not an institution.
My mother was in Mill House Nursing Home for 18 months. We have found the home to be very well run and all the staff were extremely pleasant. Her care whilst staying here has been excellent. She was always clean and tidy and very well looked after.
My mum spent the last three months of her life in Mill House after being diagnosed with cancer. Although she was very nervous about the move all the staff made her feel welcome and put her at ease. Throughout the time my mum was at Mill House she was treated with a high level of care and kindness, respect and dignity on a daily basis. During the last two weeks of my mum's life I spent most of my time with her and other family members were frequently with her also. The staff could not do enough to support us and make us feel welcome. I am so pleased that I chose Mill House for my mum's end of life care and thank all who work there.
I came to Mill House Care Home from Yorkshire to be with my Mum and Grandma. From the start, I was extremely impressed by the service from the carers and nurses; nothing was too much trouble. Everyone showed compassion, love and genuine generosity. They went the extra mile with everyone who came into the room. Everyone's job was done efficiently but with respect and sensitivity. I felt my Grandma was in good hands and everyone took their job seriously and put so much effort into their role. Thank you so much!!!
I am very happy with the care my aunt receives at Mill House the staff are friendly, the management are always on hand to discuss issues if needed and the overall atmosphere of the home is very good.
My mother was in Mill House for the last five weeks of her life. I must say I was impressed and pleased for her to receive the dignified care and attention she got in the home. The staff were polite, caring, attentive and accommodating. I don't think she could have been in a better place for her last days.
Building clean and homely and friendly. Staff caring and loving. Communication good. Warm, friendly and attentive, nothing too much trouble.
Mill House took my dad in at short notice when my mum became to ill to care for him. He had advanced Parkinsons and needed complete care. All the staff in Mill House were amazing, they took the time to get to know dad even though he couldn't speak or do anything for himself and showed real care and compassion in all their dealings with him. They also supported the whole family and especially my mum and were so sensitive and helpful when dad died. Food was unusually good for a care home environment. Happy to recommend Mill House to anyone.
Mum was admitted in somewhat of an emergency. It was fitting as my father had also been a resident for 2 months last year. I can't say enough about the staff. Extremely at tentative, respectful and genuine. I feel these are genuine caring people. We were offered a spare bed onsite during the final stages to ensure we were there. The facilities and in particular my mum's room were very pleasant and the food was more than adequate. The whole place felt like home, and whilst my mothers stay was relatively short, she was very happy there.

Nicki started working in Health and Social Care as a qualified Nurse in 1986. She worked on the Ophthalmology ward, ENT and ran outpatient clinics at St Georges Hospital in London. When Nicki moved to Oxfordshire, she worked as an agency nurse and discovered how much she enjoyed working in Nursing Homes. When she isn’t working, Nicki enjoys long country walks with her dogs, competitive cycling and climbing mountains such as Snowdon!
Words of encouragement from Nicki for someone looking for the right home would be: “It’s not the place, it’s the people that make a home. It has to feel warm, welcoming and comfortable.”
