My daughter and I had to hurriedly find a care home for my husband as his dementia was sharply in decline; also, as a laryngectomee, he needed nursing care 24/7.

We were so blessed to find the Sanctuary in Wantage, and were fortunate that they could take him immediately. The carers and nursing staff were so caring and compassionate, they treated those in their care with respect for the dignity of the patient, always having a smile and a cheerful word. The day and night staff were both exemplary.

The front of house staff were so considerate and friendly, welcoming us with genuine warmth. Whilst the administrative staff were extremely efficient, and took care of all formalities, paperwork and our concerns.

The carers and nursing staff were very attentive, sensitive and kind. They all treated those in their care with respect for the dignity of the patient, always having a smile and a cheerful word. Both day and night staff were exemplary.

Other areas at the home are equally efficient, e.g., laundry and cleaning.

I thoroughly recommend the Sanctuary to all who need care or end of life care.

We contacted Sancturay Care in Wantage to see if they could accomodate my mum for two weeks respite care, this was at very short notice and all staff could not have been more helpful.
Professional courteous, staff at all times, the home felt 'homely' and my mum's care was excellent.

All staff were helpful and happy, if required I would be more than happy for either of my parents to be a resident. Excellent service all round at all time.

I visited a few local care homes on behalf of my dad a little while ago and the lady on reception that day took time to show us around even though we hadn't made an appointment. She was very welcoming and told us all that we wanted to know. The manager phoned with a follow up call a few days later which was thoughtful and informative. When it was time for my dad to move to a home, I had no hesitation in choosing this one. It was a good decision. The staff are professional and kind. The care is first class. My dad has been very happy and felt safe and cared for.

Strongly recommend. There are lots of activities and support is never far away.

Dad's been at Wantage nursing home since 2021, the care has always been excellent, the staff show genuine compassion and respect for the residents and we never dread going to visit as it's such a happy environment with lots of engaging activities going on. The team even set up a private room for us this weekend to celebrate Dad's 80th, with a birthday banner and a little buffet, a completely lovely surprise! We couldn't be happier with the care Dad receives here, the team are a credit to the industry.

My wife has now entered her fourth year of residence, and I continue to visit her almost every day. Two years have passed since my first review and I now record my continuing admiration of, and gratitude to, the staff providing her with the appropriate care and attention far beyond what I could do myself. It is no longer possible to tell how aware my wife is of her surroundings, but every day she is hoisted into her wheelchair to spend the day in the company of other people. Her room is always immaculate, her food is individually prepared, and any health changes are promptly discussed with me. Many of the staff clearly love their jobs, and their frequent laughter provides the home with a happy ambience.

Mum came for respite following a very bad fall. We were told she would not survive. She has, and I believe if she had not gone to sanctuary, she would not be here now. Staff are amazing, friendly and patient & very caring. We were extremely happy with the care that our Mum received at Wantage Residential. Unfortunately, Mum deteriorated very quickly but the staff were amazing, always polite, caring and patient. We could not have asked for more. The manager was excellent and helped us with all the paperwork. A special thank you to a particular nursing sister who was brilliant at explaining things and to another lady for helping Mum to eat.

My grandma unfortunately had a fall at her flat and needed some short term respite care. She chose this care home as we'd visited when she'd moved from her previous home and we were sussing out housing options with her.

Grandmas been surrounded by incredible staff, the carers are funny, kind, supportive and make such an effort when we as family have come in, sorted her medications and tests from the home.

Grandma wasn't eating much after the fall and thanks to the incredible chef she is eating normally again and we massively put her rate of recovery down to the joyful staff team and nourishing meals.

I cannot begin to describe how safe we feel with grandma being in the care of you all.

Management have answered all our queries too, been there every step to guide and support our family. We are blown away with the amount of care and attention that is shown.

We feel confident that if and when the time comes that grandma wants full time care we have a place she will happily return to.

My mum came to stay for two weeks when we went away for our annual holiday. The staff in the sanctuary in Wantage are all lovely. Very professional and caring. My mum enjoyed her stay, particularly the food which she said was outstanding. I'm hoping she can continue coming to the sanctuary for care in the future when we go away. It gave me huge relief to know she was safe and cared for and I was able to relax on my holiday.

My mother-in-law has lived in a flat attached to our home for 21 years but due to declining health, she was unable to stay alone without support, so for the first time we agreed on respite care. We chose Wantage because of the reviews and on visiting we were all made to feel extremely welcome. All three of us were anxious but that soon went. My mother-in-law loved her stay, she was happy and relaxed and she found the staff extremely friendly, kind, helpful and respectful. She loved the activities and trips out and the food was excellent. My mother-in-law says she would happily go back. We are overjoyed, they have an excellent team, amazing staff, and brilliant.
