During the time that my brother has spent in Wantage Nursing Home, we have been very impressed with all care received! Very organised, very friendly and extremely caring! We love the way that ALL staff know all the residents' Christian names. Very impressed all round. Well done and thank you.

My mother was very well cared for. The staff were friendly, approachable and treated her with dignity and respect. It is a small home and my mother felt part of a large family.

Charlton Suit: The care and nursing staff are what makes this home stand out. They genuinely do care and are fabulous with the patients (and their relatives) whether you (relative) are in the room or not. The home isn't the smartest or plushest in the area but the staff are wonderful and work with dedication within their management/resourcing constraints. The rooms are light and airy and look onto weeping willows at the back. They have had three-plus managers during the time we have been visiting but things seem to have improved recently. Their links with the local surgery work well, and the palliative care support provided by the care and nursing staff and the local GP responsible work exceptionally well.

We only have one care home to compare this to which is the plushest in the local vicinity and one would assume it's the very best money can buy but this one is far far superior in terms of their clinical care and compassionate care they provide for patients with advanced dementia.

My husband spends his time in his bed and has no speech. Therefore, it is not always easy for me to answer or be sure some of the questions. I visit every day so I am kept aware of standards in the home.
The care and nursing staff treat my husband well.
They are equally kind and helpful to me.

I would like to know that someone calls to ensure his comfort very regularly. His doctor is called with no hesitation when though necessary.

We find Wantage Nursing Home to be a very friendly, comforting and safe environment for my nan.
The staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble, they really do go above what is required of them.
They also provide a good range of activities that everyone can get involved in.

A huge thank you to all the staff as you all do a fantastic job.

Money residents pay should be used much better and should be seen on improvements around the home. Management should take care of staff better and listen to their opinions as they are the ones working on the floor day to day.
Management should be seen socialising with residents and getting to know them, not just sitting in their office every day.

Care is very satisfactory and would be a shame to see staff/carers leave due to management's ill choices.

I find Wantage Nursing Home a friendly, well-supported home.
The majority of staff go above what is required of them and will assist residents and family with any request asked of them.
The food is as good as any local restaurant and with various choices at breakfast, lunch and supper.
Nursing staff and management will listen to all enquiries and help whenever possible.

They all deserve praise for a hard professional job.

Mum's first visit for respite care and initially we were all a little nervous.
However, the team have been fantastic and the environment very comforting.
Mum has thoroughly enjoyed her stay and is more than happy to come back.
She made many friends while here.

Thank you to all who make this a true sanctuary.

My husband has dementia and was admitted to the from hospital 6 months ago. The care he has received has been exemplary. The staff are patient, professional and always appear to respect residents dignity. The atmosphere in the home is welcoming and the environment is pleasant and well maintained while management takes the trouble to communicate with and consult relatives. I am very happy to recommend the home whenever the opportunity arises.

The overall appearance of a care home is clean, tidy, the general appearance is very good. The staff always greeted us and always offered us tea/coffee when being served to residents.

My only issue is with the menu too many options, get rid of the chilli con carne options. It would be easy to tailor meals to residents likes v's dislikes mum very hard she does not like eggs/cheese foods. I think this would reduce waste and I saw lots of waste which is disappointing. I am sure mum is not eating well. Podiatry needs to be followed up!!
