Warmly welcomed on arrival. All their needs were met, including the marking of my husband's clothing. We were at all times treated with respect and absolute kindness. The staff were always patient with residents' challenging behaviour. Never a voice raised or treated roughly.
The staff were very sensitive
to our needs and saw it important that family and friends were offered hospitality when present and not only at meal times. I never worried about his care when I wasn't present. I trusted them implicitly. I cannot praise the home enough.

My father in law was a resident of Ashton Lodge for over six years. Everything, and I mean everything, that Ashton Lodge did for him was exemplary. I cannot praise them enough. The staff were absolutely fantastic.

I held power of attorney for an elderly friend who developed dementia as a result of a stroke and latterly became bedbound. She spent four and a half years at Ashton Lodge. Throughout that time I was impressed by the kindness, care and respect with which she was treated by the carers and nurses. It
gave me peace of mind to know that she was safe and well cared for. I felt the staff were genuinely caring and that my friend was fortunate to be at Ashton Lodge.
Throughout her time I felt the home maintained a high standard of care and I was told if she became ill between visits, which latterly were weekly. The home held residents' and relatives' meetings with the manager and other senior staff present to answer questions and listen to relatives' concerns.

From the moment my friend moved into Ashton Lodge from her own home, she was much happier.
She was really well cared for and all the staff were very friendly. She had a lovely room.
The manager and assistant manager were always ready to help and support me: they are both very special people.

Ashton Lodge is excellent. I can find no fault with at all. Good care all around. Very caring and understanding staff. I just wish Mum had been a little better, so she could have enjoyed everything that was provided. Staff were so kind to myself and my family when she died. I can only say thank you.

My Aunt was in Ashton Lodge through October and November 2017. The staff were without exception extremely kind to her and made her last few weeks very comfortable and safe. They provided a lovely cake for her 80th birthday and were generous with their time.
Her room was always clean and tidy and the
staff were always popping in to see if she needed anything. She was very well cared for and I am very grateful to the whole team for all they did for her - I cannot praise them too highly and would recommend the home in an instant without any reservations.

My mother is 97 years old, bedridden with severe dementia. I couldn't be happier with the level of care she is receiving at Ashton Lodge. She is frequently checked in her room by staff who are all kind, efficient and professional. All her needs are being met including time taken to identify her likes
and ensure she is as comfortable and happy as possible. Communication with the family is excellent. The home is very well run.

My husband was blind and a double amputee and very depressed when we arrived at Ashton Lodge just over 4 years ago. Thanks to the perseverance of the carers and dedicated nursing staff, he turned an important corner, wrote his autobiography and enjoyed many jokes with the staff, frankly, they saved
his sanity and mine. I shall be extremely grateful to Ashton Lodge.

I am very happy with all the care my sister is getting at the home. All members of staff (manager, duty manager, care staff, nursing staff, cleaners, kitchen staff and administrators) cannot do more for our sister and also made our family very welcome.

The home has a lovely homely feeling when you

When I came to view the home it was the best out of four that I viewed. The home is so well managed to a high standard. The staff are so caring to my sister and are always there when needed. The menu for everyone is always a good choice to eat. The activities are very good and my sister enjoys going.
I would highly recommend your home to family and friends because of the care and support from all your staff.

Having had experience of three nursing homes lately Ashton Lodge is by far the best. The atmosphere and surroundings are very pleasant. The staff are caring and helpful and my mother has settled really well. There are plenty of activities and things to keep residents interested and entertained. I have
no hesitation in recommending this nursing home as I can now know Mum is cared for and happy.

My husband has been at Ashton Lodge now for 7 months. I find the home very friendly, clean, homely and very professional. The care staff are fantastic, always there with a smile and cuddles if needed.
The food is all home cooked with tea and cake in the afternoon. The nurses are highly trained in dealing
with the dementia residents.
My husband is always clean and tidy.

This home should be rated Excellent. It is well managed under the current Manager. The staff nurses and carers do an exceptional job caring for the residents ensuring they are clean, well dressed, well fed and are stimulated with various activities, music, arts and crafts. They provide excellent
external entertainment once a week. They often go the extra mile to ensure the residents are respected and well loved. The Manager operates on an open door policy, open to concerns raised and will act promptly to resolve issues. The staff are always cheerful and patient and work as a team. The safety and cleanliness of residents are of paramount importance. The gardens are extensive and beautifully kept. Residents are encouraged to sit outside in the warmer months. They hold a fabulous BBQ summer party for all the residents and their families which is always a great success! Residents are encouraged to eat in the dining room except for the frail who are fed in their rooms by the carers.

My father's stay was in Ashton Lodge for end of life care. My family and I were more than satisfied with the standard of care received. We found the staff friendly, very helpful and considerate of my father's frail condition. The nursing staff, in particular, were compassionate and always available

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.477)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.477) out of 10 for Ashton Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.552 for Ashton Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (161 Excellents x 5) + (48 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) + (8 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 232 Ratings = 4.552
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashton Lodge is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 100 registered maximum number of service users is 20. 19 Positive Reviews ÷ 20 = 0.95
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

My career in Health and Social started as a result of my grandfather being terminally ill. He was being cared for in a hospice which was not caring for him the way we had expected. As a family, a Decision was made to take him home and care for him. One day when supporting my grandfather I had an epiphany that maybe this is what I should be doing. I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives by ensuring they have a good quality of life for the rest of their lives. I graduated with a BSC Psychology degree and went on to achieve Health & social vocational qualifications.

After graduating I went on to become a Dementia support worker and developed my career very quickly in Management.

I have worked for 20 years in the sector in different capacities and am extremely passionate about providing a high standard of quality care.

I enjoy developing teams and supporting them to reach their full potential.
