My mother has been at Cedar Court for nearly three years. For most of this time, she has been happy and the care has been good. There was a fall in standards two years ago and the home had a succession of managers which was very unsettling and contributed to the fall in standards. Things have improved considerably since then. The first lockdown last year was dreadful (residents confined to rooms 24/7). But this has also improved and activities and communal calls have helped this awful year. The effort to continue with visits from senior managementhas been most appreciated and helped greatly.

Thank you for your comments and review, we are pleased that everything is moving along in the right direction.

It was important we kept the residents entertained with a good mix of activities to stimulate their mindset during lockdown. It has been a huge success and enjoyed by all participants.

My mother stayed at Cedar Court for three weeks whilst she recovered from a fall. She received excellent care and found all of the staff very friendly, sympathetic and caring particularly the Business Communication Manager who went out of her way to make my mother's stay an enjoyable experience.

All the management and staff at Cedar Court have been extremely helpful and welcoming to my mother and myself on her admittance to the home at this difficult COVID time. Everyone is really friendly and lovely with Mum whilst she adjusts to life in a care home. Facilities and activities seem great and Mum speaks very highly of the food and menu choices.

My brother and I looked at the home in January 2020 and like it immediately as a home for our aunt for whom we jointly hold the LPA. Nothing that has happened since has altered our opinion - quite the contrary as our aunt is obviously happy and well cared for. Delighted to learn that all staff are now permanent, they are all very friendly, courteous and smiley!

Reply from Petra Ionescu, Home Manager at Cedar Court Care Home

I am so pleased that your aunt has settled in well with us. Some of our staff have been working at Cedar Court for a long time, which builds up familiarity so that our residents get to know the team really well. It’s a pleasure to have her in our care.

My father was treated with the utmost respect and care for beautifully by all the staff at Cedar Court at this very difficult and unprecedented time that we are living in due to the Coronavirus. From the manager, the doctor, admin staff and care team not only showed compassion to my dear father but empathy to my mother and myself.

The standards in the home had been deteriorating with poor cleanliness and lack of staff. However following a change in management the home has gone from strength to strength. During the Covid pandemic when we have been unable to visit, the staff have kept us fully informed of any development and seem to care deeply for our relative. They have been very patient with her even though her dementia has been challenging for them at times.
The manager is always fully up to speed with the day to day situation of the residents and shows a real commitment to their wellbeing.

During the last few days of her life, they have shown real compassion to my aunt and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a home.

All at Cedar Court have been very supportive of my Aunt as she has made the difficult transition from independent living to a home. They have also supported me as my aunt's carer, with guidance and advice. Everyone seems to have gone the extra mile to make my Aunt comfortable and feel at home.

The room is sometimes not very clean and clothes are left lying around. The laundering of clothes could be improved and also my friend is very often wearing other residents' clothes.

I and my family were unhappy with the standard of care provided. My mother was unable to feed herself but there were no staff available to help her to eat. If family members did not do this then she went without. Mum died six weeks after being admitted. The reaction of the staff was to demand the removal of her body as quickly as possible. Since then we have had no contact what so ever, no condolences and no refund of the care fees we paid in advance. Very poor.

My mother, an ex-nurse, reluctantly went into Cedar Court Care Home for a very short stay. As her time to leave was approaching, Christmas was coming up so she decided it would be better to leave afterwards. She liked being there so much she told me she wanted to stay there permanently. From a family's point of view, it was lovely to see her so happy and well cared for, with lovely staff who she looked on as friends, good food and great activities which she thoroughly enjoys. She has now been there nearly 3 years and is still very happy.

Well done Cedar Court.

Thank you so much for welcoming my step-mum to Cedar Court, albeit for such a short stay
We visited prior to her stay and were welcomed and listened to.
You are all well staffed, with a professional yet approachable range of kind staff and I appreciate all you did for her.
Your nursing home is spotless, well appointed, well resourced and I loved the range of sitting areas inside and out.
I’m only sorry my step-mum didn’t have more time to enjoy the wide range of actives.

Thank you all
