I think that Clare House could perform better. There appears to be a high turnover of staff, many agency workers and it seems generally a bit disorganised, particularly in comparison to other homes that I have had experience with. My grandfather 95 and is almost blind and very deaf, and up until a recent
fall, he had always been very independent. He has had numerous problems with Clare House all of which seem to stem from poor organisation and lack of a core team. Examples of issues include being spoken to by people who clearly don't realise he is deaf, being asked to perform tasks that would be difficult for someone who is blind, such as buttoning up his pyjamas and being dealt with by people who don't seem particularly empathetic to his needs - there seems to be a lot of examples of times when someone has promised to look into something or action a request and failed to follow up.
I understand that the home has also changed manager 3 times since the turn of the year and despite my grandfather making numerous requests and the home being the size of a large house, the management are rarely able offer their time to discuss issues that he wishes to raise. Our family are frequently having to replace items of clothing that have been lost. I've spoken to many members of staff and they are all extremely pleasant and hard working, but overall there seems to be a lack of organisation from the top. The premises, activities and food are all good, but ultimately for me, the care services aren't up to standard for well over £1000+ p/w.

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“Treating others the way I would like to be treated. We all have history to share, experiences which make us the way we are. Kindness has many forms, and we always should strive to be kind one to another.”


During his career in the health and care sector, Slawomir has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people to enrich their lives. He is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for residents.


Talking about how he began his career, Slawomir says:


“I was originally supposed to be a banker in my home country of Poland but didn’t love finance and decided to try something different. I started as a carer in 2005, fell in love with the profession and have never looked back.”


Having now worked in the care sector for many years, Slawomir closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. He extends this caring approach to his colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what he enjoys most about his role, Slawomir remarked:


“I love my work, I describe it as my calling, and could not imagine my life any other way. Every day is different and small things lead to huge differences in the lives of my residents.”


Outside of work, Slawomir enjoys a range of hobbies, spending time with his family, travelling and living life to the fullest.
