The rooms were adequate, but a bit tired and dated. Unfortunately, over the years, we did experience missing items of clothing and bedding (that had been named), and often found other people's clothing in his wardrobe. However, the staff and management were always cheerful, helpful and supportive. The
staff were professional and treated residents with dignity and respect. Their communication and updates about Dad were good, especially towards the end. Thank you for your hard work and care.
Reply from Prashant Patel, Owner at Coombe Dingle Nursing HomeWe take all our reviews seriously good or bad. We will learn from your comments, that we have a rolling programme to update our environment to meet some expectations. This will be taken as an action point at our next management meeting. Otherwise, we are delighted with your positive comments about our staff and care. Means a lot to us. Thank you.

Dad went into Coombe Dingle following hospital when I agreed I didn’t have the experience to continue to care for his increasingly challenging needs. He took a while to settle, but thanks to the manager and staff he was comfortable, clean and safe during his 2 1/2 years there. The nurses and carers
go above and beyond their duties and always treated Dad with respect and kindness. I was always kept up to date with everything and, at the end, all the staff were wonderful with both Dad and us.
Reply from Prashant Patel, Owner at Coombe Dingle Nursing HomeFirstly, thank you for taking some time out to review our services. Staff will take lots of comfort from your comments and we are delighted that we could be some part of your difficult journey to place your dad in our care. This decision is never easy for you to make, but for you to have a positive experience is important for us. I know you your dad will be missed by us all. Thank you once again. Kind Regards from the Coombe Dingle Team.

My dad experienced exceptional care at Coombe Dingle. The staff have gone out of their way to look after him and cater for his love of cricket, even getting him up early to watch the test match with other residents.
Reply from Prash Patel, Director at Coombe Dingle Nursing HomeHi, I have to admit a little bit of selfishness on our behalf as we are all mad about cricket in general at Coombe Dingle. However, it is good to know that your dad enjoyed participating in watching his loved sport and that it made him feel like at home. Thank you.

Mum had to move into Coombe Dingle when her dementia progressed rapidly, and she needed specialist care. I was so grateful that a place did become available when she needed it, and the manager supported and encouraged me as we waited.
Mum continued to deteriorate during her seven months in the home,
but all the staff worked tirelessly to help her and kept me informed at every step of the journey. All the staff were so kind, cheerful, and positive with Mum and with me as I visited. They were always respectful and dealt with her extreme needs in a dignified and loving way. In mum's final few weeks, staff members took turns to be with her when I couldn't be and read to her or played her favourite music. I am so grateful for their care and support at such a difficult time.
Reply from Prash Patel, Director at Coombe Dingle Nursing HomeHi Ann, thank you for giving us your valuable time to review our services. We are so delighted that we could be some part of your mum's life and we played some vital role when she needed us the most. We take everyone's opinion seriously, and we will endeavour to address some gaps in our environment to be able to gain five stars from you. Our caring ethos is paramount to us to ensure that all our service users are given full support with dignity. Our team at Coombe Dingle will draw strengths from your positive comments. Thank You once again on behalf of everyone at Coombe Dingle.

My mother was admitted to Coombe Dingle Nursing Home following discharge from hospital and inability to be cared for at home any longer. I was nervous as I wasn’t sure how she’d adjust. I needn’t have worried. Soon after arrival, we spoke by phone and she told me how lovely all the nurses were.
At
the time of her admittance Covid rules were in place so I was unable to visit but able to call as much as required. I also got her a mobile phone so she could stay in touch. Sadly Mum remained in care for longer than expected and it was heartbreaking to see her deteriorate. However, the nurses were always so cheerful and loving. She was always thrilled to see them and blew kisses to them all the time. Even when communication with me was difficult. To the very end, she’d get pleasure from holding their hands and laughing with them. Mum passed on 22nd September after over two years in their care.
Coombe Dingle are lovely and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anybody.
Reply from Prash Patel, Director at Coombe Dingle Nursing HomeHi Candice, we fondly remember Mum even now. We are delighted to be some part of her life, thank you for all your kind words it means a lot to our staff team at Coombe Dingle. They don't often receive the necessary appreciation for their hard work and dedication, of course only if they deserve it. I will share this review with them. All the very best to you and wish you well.

The rooms are not the best but are reasonable. With regard to the staff and management, I cannot speak highly enough of their commitment and the professional way they treat residents, they work tirelessly and are always cheerful and willing to help where ever they can. I cannot praise them enough.

Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5
My husband was desperately unhappy at the nursing home. Our visits to him were frequent and he always said he was not happy being there. Many items of his clothing went missing including eight pairs of brand new socks which he never wore. A blue striped long-sleeved shirt, an military green brand new
sweater which he wore a couple of times, and a book written by his best friend. I spoke to the manager and nurse several times and they simply said they did not know what had happened to all these items. I am not happy at all. An apology is not good enough. There is a lack of care of resident's personal property that needs to be addressed.
Reply from Gayle Sanders, Registered Manager at Coombe Dingle Nursing HomeWe usually endeavour to ensure that we meet all expectations from the family, despite our best effort we were unable to locate the reported missing items. It is our company’s policy for all SU’s and families to tell our senior team members to log all new and old properties on our care management system which keeps a log of all the items. Unfortunately, there was no logged record of these new items for this SU. This is very important part of our management system so that we can be held accountable. We are a specialist home caring for service users with moderate to advanced dementia and the challenges this entails. Unfortunately, like many services where bedroom doors cannot be locked, there may be occasions when items do go missing. Very often located a few days later without causing too much of an upset. On this occasion, we were simply unable to find these items which has not happened to us in the last five years of my service as a registered manager. We would like to extend our apologies.

My wife stayed in Coombe Dingle Home for 5.5 years. Of the 5.5 years, the Nursing Home looked after her very well. She always had clean clothes on and the Nursing Home was spotless. The staff were well trained in dementia care under the leadership of the owner and the manager and always very caring
and friendly. They kept daily records at all times. I would often ask to see the latest records of my wife’s health. The food also was very good. Management was excellent, especially when my wife was dying, which was over many days. The Head Nurse was very supportive together with all the nursing staff. They offered me a bed for the night and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend Coombe Dingle Nursing Home.
Reply from Prashant Patel, Owner at Coombe Dingle Nursing HomeThank you, Stuart, It was our duty and pleasure to look after your wife. She was very much part of our Coombe Dingle Community and we were all very fond of her, we will miss her charming smile and her continuous presence in the communal area. She was a lovely person with full of character. We are just happy to be part of her life when she needed us.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.584) out of 10 for Coombe Dingle Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 33 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.584 for Coombe Dingle Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (268 Excellents x 5) + (85 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (12 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 377 Ratings = 4.584
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Coombe Dingle Nursing Home is based on 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 32 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
