Coppice Lea is set within five acres of landscaped gardens and wooded grounds, the elegant Victorian house has been converted to provide residential, nursing and dementia care. All bedrooms are of a pleasant size and afford splendid rural views. They have attractive ensuite facilities, a colour television and direct dial telephones. All bedrooms are equipped with the latest nurse call system.

An experienced and qualified care and nursing team deliver care through individualised care plans which are designed in consultation with the individual resident, their family/advocates and a senior member of the nursing team. Care plans are regularly reviewed and adjusted to a resident's caring needs.

Life at Coppice Lea is varied and interesting. A dedicated health and wellbeing coordinator ensures there is a wide range of activities available, including arts and crafts, baking, flower arranging and light exercise.

They have their own dementia training, which highlights the importance of meaningful activities and a stimulating environment for people living with dementia, in addition to addressing clinical aspects of care.

The care given to my mother was exceptional. We are so grateful to the staff for their gentle encouragement and respectful care of my mother as she dealt with the confusion that was a part of her vascular dementia. Whenever we visited her, the staff also made us feel very welcome.

My mum has been at Coppice Lea since June. She was very depressed and inactive when she lived at home with a full-time carer.
She is now dressed and washed every day, hair is styled. She is singing and dancing along with the entertainment. She only used to eat soup but now has 3 meals a day and is
looking much healthier. This is the best choice we could have made for her and I thank the staff so much for taking the time to understand her quirks!
Reply from Ieva Redere, Home Manager at Coppice LeaThank you so much for your lovely feedback, that's lovely to hear that your mum is so much happier living at Coppice Lea. I'll pass on your comments to the team.

My husband is being very well looked after and though he spends some time here, he is taken down to the lounge, and dining room. The staff are always patient, kind and helpful.
Last Saturday a Garden Party/BBQ was given for patients, friends, and relatives outside. Beautifully organsied with good food
and entertainment. My husband was not able to enjoy it.
The Deputy Manager and a member of staff talked me through the extra funding application and clearly knew him well.

Mum has been in Coppice Lea for just over a year now and I have found the care and facilities exceptional. All the staff are genuinely caring and friendly. I've noticed acts of genuine care and kindness each time I visit. The facilities are good, fresh and always clean. The food is varied and tasty
with a choice to suit the residents. As a relative and visitor, I'm welcomed by all the staff and feel part of the family. I'm informed promptly of any care issues that may arise from time to time and I have confidence that Mum is getting the best possible care and attention.
Nobody wants their relative to need to be in a home, but it's a great comfort knowing that Mum is getting love and care and is being kept safe while I can't be there.

My friend left this home due to problems that were not being resolved. The activity lead had a personality conflict with my friend and thus my friend was banned from attending activities when the main activity lead ran an activity. It was ludicrous. I met with the current manager time and time again
and it was never resolved. The manager told me that many staff did not like my friend and had problems with her - this is honestly the truth - you would never believe it. There are many lovely staff but there are still many problems at Coppice Lea and I would never let my own Mother stay there. My friend has now moved and is being treated with dignity and respect.

Whenever I visit Coppice Lea the staff are always friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. The ratio of staff to residents is always high and all are watchful and caring, from management through nursing staff to carers, kitchen and support workers. There are regular entertainments provided by in-house
staff and professionals. The food is first-rate in terms of variety, nutritional value, and taste. The charity BBQ on 3rd August was a credit to all. In summary, I have found this to be a wonderful home!

My mother has been there for a few months now and the standard of care is very impressive. Lots of activities are put on for all the residents and they all can join in if they wish.
My wife and I join my mother whenever we can and have lunch with her, the food is absolutely lovely and any help the
residents require at meal times is promptly carried out.
All the staff we meet are very polite, caring and helpful and I'm very pleased we have found a lovely place for my mother to be looked after, it's good for her and it also takes away a lot of the worry for the family.

My mother has been in Coppice Lea since September of 2023, and she is very pleased with the help that she receives (if she wants it). But also every day there are activities to join in if you want to.
I stay and have lunch with Mum once a week, and the lunch is lovely.
All in all, the staff are so
very helpful and attentive to all the guest's needs and wants.
I'm glad that my sister found this exceptional home for our mum, it's fantastic.

My mother resided in Coppice Lea for palliative care with cancer. The team is friendly but professional, caring, and sensitive. Before choosing the home, the nurses showed us the facilities, more importantly, they focused on understanding both her and her needs. We were concerned as mum's needs and
pain management were complex but we were reassured by the responses received and the questions put to us. Throughout Mum's stay the medical care and domestic management have been exemplary. The caring nature of the team has shone through (and the odd helping of pudding helps!). The ability and warm welcome for visiting family and friends is nice.
Our mother died yesterday in peace and after a long hard painful battle. She died with grace and dignity supported by her family, the nurses, and the staff of Coppice Lea. The ongoing arrangements were explained timely and clearly, so we knew what would happen and what the next steps would be. Very impressed.

My father has been residing at Coppice Lea for over two years and we are so happy with the care he receives from this wonderful home. There is a lovely, warm, family atmosphere, and this is how the residents are treated, like family. The staff are always welcoming, happy and so friendly. They are caring,
compassionate and dedicated, nothing is too much trouble. The food is amazing, entertainment is always excellent as we have seen on numerous occasions. Mum and Dad recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, we joined Dad for a lovely three course lunch, the room and table had been beautifully decorated, this was followed by some wonderful entertainment and a lovely afternoon tea, buffet and a beautiful cake. So nice that all of the staff joined in and made Mum and Dad's day so very special. We can't thank the manager and the hard-working team enough for all they do for Dad and also for us when we visit, you are all amazing! We just love everything about Coppice Lea.

I would like to thank the staff at Coppice Lea for the care they showed my mother. Even though she was there for a short while, everyone was very kind and caring from the moment she arrived. Even though she had only been admitted with some confusion from the hospital, reception at the front desk already
knew, without looking, what room she was in when I came into visit her. I’m very grateful that I was called by the nurses to come in and be with my mother at the end of her life. You all show such kindness and care and made my mum’s last days of her life comfortable and pain-free. Your staff were exceptional. Please express my thanks to everyone for their kindness. Our mum was a resident at Coppice Lea for end-of-life care we felt the support, care and attention she received gave us extra months with our lovely mum. We visited most days we always found the staff friendly, patient, kind and caring. Yes, the building could use a lick of paint but to us, it was
more important that the TLC was given to the residents. There are always lots of activities laid on for those wanting to take part, but no pressure on those like Mum who didn't always want to, she was always asked. The food is of good quality.
We felt that everyone genuinely cared for Mum and when it came to the end of her life, she was treated with care and dignity. We were able to stay with her to the end. We were also taken care of by the staff who comforted and supported us through such a hard time.
Mum was happy during her time at Coppice Lea and we were very happy with the care she received.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.838)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.838) out of 10 for Coppice Lea is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 32 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.838 for Coppice Lea is calculated as follows: ( (322 Excellents x 5) + (50 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 377 Ratings = 4.838
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Coppice Lea is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 53 registered maximum number of service users is 10.6, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Maria

Maria Stancu

Job Title: Home Manager

Maria is our home manager at Coppice Lea. Here’s an insight into her role at the home in her own words:

“As a registered nurse with 10 years of experience in the care industry, my responsibilities include overseeing clinical care delivery, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards, and supporting both our residents and team in achieving the highest quality of care.

What brings me joy is the ability to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, no matter how small. Seeing residents achieve their goals, whether it’s regaining independence or simply finding moments of happiness, is incredibly rewarding. Knowing that our team plays a part in their journey is priceless and fuels my passion for this work every day.

To me, ‘Care from the Heart’ means providing care that goes beyond the technical aspects of the role. It’s about empathy, compassion, and truly understanding the needs of each individual. It’s treating residents as if they were family, ensuring their dignity, comfort, and happiness are always at the forefront of everything we do.

I believe my impact lies in fostering a culture of compassion and teamwork. By leading by example and supporting my colleagues, I aim to elevate the standard of care we provide. In the future, I would like to further develop initiatives that strengthen team collaboration, ensuring our home remains a place where everyone thrives.”
