Coppice Lea is set within five acres of landscaped gardens and wooded grounds, the elegant Victorian house has been converted to provide residential, nursing and dementia care. All bedrooms are of a pleasant size and afford splendid rural views. They have attractive ensuite facilities, a colour television and direct dial telephones. All bedrooms are equipped with the latest nurse call system.

An experienced and qualified care and nursing team deliver care through individualised care plans which are designed in consultation with the individual resident, their family/advocates and a senior member of the nursing team. Care plans are regularly reviewed and adjusted to a resident's caring needs.

Life at Coppice Lea is varied and interesting. A dedicated health and wellbeing coordinator ensures there is a wide range of activities available, including arts and crafts, baking, flower arranging and light exercise.

They have their own dementia training, which highlights the importance of meaningful activities and a stimulating environment for people living with dementia, in addition to addressing clinical aspects of care.

Although I have put "Good" for most of the options below there have been times when some have dropped below that but equally sometimes things have been excellent. Individual members of staff in particular have been outstanding and to see so many at Dad's funeral and that they were genuinely upset at
his passing, not just representing the Home, was very touching. He had very much become part of the community.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.827) out of 10 for Coppice Lea is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 30 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.827 for Coppice Lea is calculated as follows: ( (298 Excellents x 5) + (50 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 353 Ratings = 4.827
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Coppice Lea is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 53 registered maximum number of service users is 10.6, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Maria Stancu

Job Title: Home Manager

Maria is our home manager at Coppice Lea. Here’s an insight into her role at the home in her own words:

“As a registered nurse with 10 years of experience in the care industry, my responsibilities include overseeing clinical care delivery, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards, and supporting both our residents and team in achieving the highest quality of care.

What brings me joy is the ability to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, no matter how small. Seeing residents achieve their goals, whether it’s regaining independence or simply finding moments of happiness, is incredibly rewarding. Knowing that our team plays a part in their journey is priceless and fuels my passion for this work every day.

To me, ‘Care from the Heart’ means providing care that goes beyond the technical aspects of the role. It’s about empathy, compassion, and truly understanding the needs of each individual. It’s treating residents as if they were family, ensuring their dignity, comfort, and happiness are always at the forefront of everything we do.

I believe my impact lies in fostering a culture of compassion and teamwork. By leading by example and supporting my colleagues, I aim to elevate the standard of care we provide. In the future, I would like to further develop initiatives that strengthen team collaboration, ensuring our home remains a place where everyone thrives.”
