I would like to thank the staff at Coppice Lea for the care they showed my mother. Even though she was there for a short while, everyone was very kind and caring from the moment she arrived. Even though she had only been admitted with some confusion from the hospital, reception at the front desk already knew, without looking, what room she was in when I came into visit her. I’m very grateful that I was called by the nurses to come in and be with my mother at the end of her life. You all show such kindness and care and made my mum’s last days of her life comfortable and pain-free. Your staff were exceptional. Please express my thanks to everyone for their kindness. Kind regards.

Our mum was a resident at Coppice Lea for end-of-life care we felt the support, care and attention she received gave us extra months with our lovely mum. We visited most days we always found the staff friendly, patient, kind and caring. Yes, the building could use a lick of paint but to us, it was more important that the TLC was given to the residents. There are always lots of activities laid on for those wanting to take part, but no pressure on those like Mum who didn't always want to, she was always asked. The food is of good quality.
We felt that everyone genuinely cared for Mum and when it came to the end of her life, she was treated with care and dignity. We were able to stay with her to the end. We were also taken care of by the staff who comforted and supported us through such a hard time.

Mum was happy during her time at Coppice Lea and we were very happy with the care she received.

My mother has been a resident for 7 months now. The care and friendliness of the staff is outstanding.

My visits are never at the same time, my mother is always clean, tidy and content. On the 18th of May, my mother was 101, I arrived and discovered an entertainment afternoon, with an Opera singer, a special afternoon tea and cake, her room had also been decorated. Well done to all.

All staff are very caring and led well by the head nurse. May not be the most modern and posh home but the care is exceptional. The food is very good and residents are catered for individually. The grounds are spacious and delightful.

I would like to say thank you to all who work here. From the lovely ladies who make the teas and coffees, the receptionists and office staff, nurses, carers and all who help.

They have given my dad amazing care and treated him with dignity. And for me, many times a shoulder to cry on or a coffee and a chat. I turn up unannounced most of the time and was always welcomed. Dad was always well looked after and freshly shaved looking with clean clothes. Sadly losing dad has been difficult, but they still welcome me with open arms to go have a coffee and a chat.

Since Coppice Lea has a new manager, the staff and residents appear happier. The carers work hard. They need more time to shave and clean their teeth. Communication between carers and nursing staff could be better regarding any problems with the resident. All members of staff should have an increase in pay.

I would like to tell you how lovely your staff were to me during the final two weeks of my mother’s life, when she was on end-of-life care. I was by her side, both night and daytime hours, at all hours over the entire festive period. All the staff and the lovely carers/staff and nurses, whose names I cannot recall, were very patient and caring towards me as I sat by my Mum’s side. The kitchen staff even fed me and kept me going during my time there. The laundry staff and cleaners crept past me, without disturbing me, and the night staff were welcoming in the small hours too. I’m sure I got under everyone’s feet at times but I was still made to feel very welcome, always! Thank you, to the staff, for easing an emotionally draining time for me. The flower on Mum’s pillow was a lovely touch. The new manager is in a different league of friendliness, compared to the sourness of his predecessor. Congratulations on his employment!

During my mother's time at Coppice Lea she has sadly gone from being fairly independent and needing some support, to becoming totally dependent for all her needs - more so since relatives are no longer allowed to visit individuals' rooms! Surely we could be treated as key workers, tested regularly and by allowing access it would free up staff for more important duties. We could also provide the one to one stimulation they need, preventing depression and mental health issues. If I feel something is wrong with my mother's care I speak directly to the manager, however, I do find there appears to be a lack of communication between staff at all levels. Sometimes I am told something will be one, only to find out later from my mother that it hasn't.

Overall I find Coppice Lea very good and the care given to dad. The rooms could benefit with an upgrade and the housekeeping needs supervising more closely. The staff are lovely and very willing in all they do, there is a good range of entertainment. Nothing is too much trouble, if someone needs a drink, blanket, anything, it is dealt with swiftly. A nice atmosphere is created by the staff.

Dad always looks clean and tidy and is very happy.

Whenever I visited Coppice Lea over the past three years, the staff have always been friendly, courteous and helpful. The resident I was visiting was well cared for and well supported at Coppice Lea, particularly with regard to respecting the resident's individual preferences. I am very grateful to all the staff at Coppice Lea for everything they have done over the past three years.

I visit the home every day and have been able to observe the activity of staff and residents. The atmosphere is very friendly and caring and the residents appear to be calm and at ease. It has a "family" feel to it. I have already recommended the home to friends looking for a place for a parent.

The chef served up a fabulous 3 course Sunday lunch for Father's day to which my partner was able to join me. We were treated as well as in any 5-star restaurant. It was a very special occasion and we are now looking forward to the candlelight dinner in July and family barbecue and garden party in August

I had great difficulty finding a suitable home for my partner on leaving the neuro-disability hospital, but I fell in love with Coppice Lea as soon as I set foot inside the front door, as did my partner when he visited it. On reading that the founders of Caring Homes Group opened their first care home in my hometown, in the street where I wet to school, I felt it was a good omen. And so it has proved to be because my partner is very happy and has settled very quickly into his new surroundings.

I was visiting recently and staff were moving residents to their rooms. I was really impressed with a healthcare assistant. The resident had dementia, but before the assistant moved him, he got to his level and spoke to him and told him exactly what he was going to do. He was speaking to him all the time he was putting him on the hoist.

All staff are friendly and look after residents well.

Shannon Hamilton
Shannon HamiltonJob Title Home Manager

With 10 years of experience in the health and social care sector, my role as Home Manager is to lead our team in delivering safe, compassionate, and person-centred care. I oversee the day-to-day running of the home, ensure we meet the highest standards of quality and compliance, and support both residents and colleagues to thrive.

My greatest passion lies in end-of-life care and dementia care. Supporting individuals and their families through some of life’s most sensitive moments is an honour that I never take for granted. Helping residents feel understood, valued, and comforted—whether through a reassuring conversation or ensuring their wishes are respected—brings a deep sense of meaning to my work.

For me, ‘Care from the Heart’ means seeing every resident as a unique individual with their own story, preferences, and needs. It’s about delivering care with empathy and dignity, creating an environment where people feel safe, respected, and truly at home.

I believe my impact comes from creating a culture where kindness, teamwork, and open communication are at the forefront. By supporting and empowering my colleagues, I strive to build a strong and unified team that consistently delivers exceptional care. Looking ahead, I am committed to developing further initiatives that enhance wellbeing, strengthen relationships, and ensure Coppice Lea remains a warm and supportive place for everyone.
