The staff at St George's are always so welcoming, and all at the home have coped really well with the pandemic. I know that my mum is really happy and comfortable at St George's, which, especially during the pandemic when we have not been able to see each other, has given me great comfort. The home is always very clean and tidy - and my mum is a fan of the food!

My wife had been a resident of St George's for almost seven years. Prior to the pandemic, I was a regular visitor, spending several hours a day with her in the lounges. I got to know the staff fairly well, and they were always welcoming to me and really attentive to my wife. The activities staff also seemed to go out their way to include her on outings and other programmes of events. It was October last year that marked the start of a very difficult time for her as ongoing health issues necessitated hospital stays on three occasions, each one taking its toll on her. The caring staff in the peaceful haven that is St George's went out of their way to care for her after each stay as the personal care in the hospital was sadly lacking. With visiting limited, we regularly attempted Skype calls, and various staff members would take the tablet to her. Unfortunately, she was often sleepy, and if we got a cheeky smile from her, it was a massive bonus. No praise is too high for St George's and its staff.

My brother and I have been very happy with the care provided for our father. Our interactions with the care home and staff have all been during the current pandemic and various levels of lockdown, but we have been impressed with the efforts made by the staff not only from the care side but also on how they have engaged with us. Communication is very good, including regular photographs of the residents on the private Facebook page. We take great comfort from the fact that our father is safe and seems happy.

My husband was welcomed into this home as though he was a family member. It was a distressing time for all of us, but we instantly felt that he was entering a really safe place where he would receive excellent care. Throughout his short stay, he was treated so well by all the staff especially his nurse who knew immediately when he needed to go to hospital. She kept in close contact with me during the time he was in hospital to make sure that I was alright as well. All the staff, from Reception to the Manager have been really supportive and I am so grateful for the care they gave to my husband.

Mum has been a resident at St George's for over 5-years, and during this time, she has been treated with the utmost respect, kindness and support. The staff are amazing when dealing with all the residents.
Not only during Covid 19, but the home always keeps us informed about what is happening to Mum's health and wellbeing.

Mum is now quite unwell, and the house manager very kindly with permission allowed my brother and me to see Mum for the first time in nearly 4-months due to Covid19. We were socially distanced from her, but it meant the world to us to be able to see her.

I had no hesitation in applying to St. George’s when my mum required help in her day to day life after my dad was there for five years and looked after so well. I think it says a lot when most of the staff are still the same ones after so many years. I would like to thank them all for their hard work and dedication.

My father has been a resident for 18 months. His overall care is good. The staff are caring and considerate with a few individuals providing excellent care. Staff at times are overstretched especially at weekends. The management team are extremely approachable. There is room for improvement in the general decoration and cleanliness. More varied activities are required.

My name is Andrea, and I am the Home Manager at St George's. Prior to joining St George's, I was Home Manager at Sutton Lodge, a smaller Bupa care home. I have worked in the care sector for 29 years, including 18 years as a registered nurse and 12 years in management roles within care homes.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working in both NHS and care home settings, giving me a broad range of experience that has shaped the way I lead, support others, and deliver high-quality care. I am passionate about creating a warm, supportive environment where residents feel safe, valued and respected, and where colleagues feel empowered to provide the highest standards of care.

I believe in leading with kindness, honesty and respect. My door is always open, and I encourage residents, relatives and team members to come to me with ideas, questions, concerns, or simply for a chat.

I truly believe that great care homes are built through teamwork, strong relationships and a shared commitment to putting residents at the heart of everything we do. I am proud to be part of the team at St George's and to support the continued delivery of outstanding care for our residents and their families.
