St George's Care Home

My father has been a resident for 18 months. His overall care is good. The staff are caring and considerate with a few individuals providing excellent care. Staff at times are overstretched especially at weekends. The management team are extremely approachable. There is room for improvement in the general decoration and cleanliness. More varied activities are required.

My sister has been in the home for 8 years. She has had excellent caring over this time and the nursing care has been wonderful. The management staff are very pleasant and welcoming. The chef and kitchen staff produce excellent food - well done.

Extremely kind staff both to my husband and myself. Efficient and very clean - I have recommended the home to friends.

Staff are kind and caring and seem to take a real interest in the residents, getting to know them and all their likes and dislikes. The home is warm and cheerfully decorated with plenty of activities but no pressure to join in if the resident wants quiet time.

I visit every day and have always found the permanent staff to be helpful, supportive and caring.

My mother has been a resident at St George's care home for seven and a half years, every time I visit, which is weekly, I always find the home a clean and welcoming place. The staff are always courteous and efficient and they all know how to look after each resident and their various needs depending on their individual levels of care required. My mum is always neatly presented even though she can't do much for herself. The food is of a very high standard and there is a wide range of activities provided by the home (ie singing, animal petting).

The care received has been very good.

The resident has been here for about 8+ years. At that time she has been well looked after during stressful times.

I have found the advantage of having a fully trained nurses to solve heart problems and how to treat them. They keep records of progress etc. The carers and staff are marvellous, kind and know their job well.

As my Aunt's dementia and mobility has gradually deteriorated they have increased the care they provide.

My Aunt is very comfortable there and I have no hesitation in recommending St George's Nursing Home.

Dad is well in himself and very happy with the care he receives.

Staff are friendly most are really great with patients. Excellent entertainment. Very good management willing to listen to comments made and react.

My mother was a resident at St George's for several years until her death on Christmas day 2016. I have nothing but praise for this excellent care home. The staff are outstanding, so very gentle and caring and the manner in which they deal with the residents is simply excellent. My mother was in a spacious room, with a well-equipped bathroom and very well maintained by the excellent cleaning staff. The home is very well maintained having undergone a recent refurbishment. Activities are provided daily to stimulate the residents and trips out are arranged for the more able. The food is excellent and served openly in the restaurant. I could not fault St George's and thanks to all the staff for the loving care they gave my mother.

We have had a very good experience with the facilities and service provided to my aunt at St George's. She is very happy there and well settled. The staff are very caring and fun.

My mother was a resident from April 2006 until she died in February 2016. The care home employs plenty of state registered nurses, my mother was cleaned every day, fresh clothes everyday, plenty of stimulation via activities or common lounge areas. Regular renovation to the care house, with input from residents parents/carers. Dignity is always evident with staff being well trained and dedicated. There have been plenty of investment and improvement over the years such as digital TV's, Wifi and more equipment and changes of layouts. There is plenty of communication with access to a residents representative committee. Much better than the rest.

My husband has been a resident at St Georges Care home for a year. In all aspects I am extremely pleased and grateful that we found such an excellent one. I have no complaints or worry that he is not getting the best treatment possible. I could not have picked a better place.

My husband came to St George's in April 2015. He had early onset Alzheimer's and his behaviour was extremely challenging as he was still so young and strong and didn't understand what was going on. I cannot stress how wonderful ALL the staff have been through some very difficult times. The nursing, care, reception, housekeeping, cleaning and maintenance staff all made us welcome and my husband was cared for with such professionalism and loving concern. Sadly, he passed away in January and everyone was so kind and supportive especially when we wanted to be with him at the end and we were there all the time. They not only cared for him, ensuring his comfort and dignity, feeding and giving him personal care, they looked after our emotional needs. I cannot speak highly enough of all at St George's and my children and I could never thank them enough.

Staff are wonderfully dedicated, caring and understand dementia, which I think the commission do not. They work hard, are respectful and dedicated at provided care. Play leaders are imaginative and thoughtful with their programmes.

Mum has been in St. George's nursing home for 10 months. I see her regularly and I am very pleased with her care and how she seems to have improved health wise since last year when she arrived to live with my family. It was a difficult choice to put mum in a nursing home but it was recommended after many trips to A & E and a couple of long hospital stays. The staff at St. George's soon gave me confidence that we had done the right thing for mum. Mum still has a good memory so she knows that she has lived with us but when she comes to visit she tells us when she is ready to go 'home', that is to St George's. Mum has likes and dislikes and when she has told staff what she wants, they try to accommodate her. My sister visits mum a lot less frequently due to distance but last weekend when she took mum out she commented on how well mum looked compared to a year ago.
