Waverley Grange offers round-the-clock care for people who require nursing, residential, respite care as well as care for people living with Parkinson's.

Voted one of the UK’s top 100 luxury care homes 2021 and featured in the prestigious annual 'UK Luxury Care Home Guide', Waverley Grange allows residents to retain independence while enjoying a vibrant social atmosphere.

Residents can curl up in the library, have a manicure in the salon, or watch a classic on the big screen. There is even a chapel and a café.

The gardens are perfect for a stroll, perhaps to visit the chickens. There is an allotment where residents can grow produce or relax on the patio when the sun is out.

The friendly team work together to make sure everyone’s stay is as comfortable as possible, whether that’s for a few days of respite or longer term.

There’s a real focus on looking after each resident’s wellbeing, including support for their physical, mental and spiritual needs.

Enjoyable mealtimes, lots to do and plenty of opportunities to socialise make this a very special place to be. Friends and family are always welcome to pop in for a catch-up or to join in with whatever’s going on.

The team of activity coordinators plan a varied and interesting programme. There is something for everyone, including those who are less mobile.

The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. From pets therapy, music and gentle exercise to visiting performers there is lots going on and anyone is welcome to pop in and join in, whether a friend, relative or loved one.

I researched local facilities at a time when my brother was ready for discharge from hospital but didn't feel he could be safe at home. I spoke to one staff member in particular who was attentive and astonishingly efficient at handling with the hospital and making the transfer process stress-free at
a very stressful time. The care my brother has received has been first-class. He has confidence in every single member of staff.
Reply from Eden Tomlinson, Customer Service Adviser at Waverley Grange Care HomeThank you for your feedback. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your Brother in our care. We hope to continue providing your loved one with the best possible care.

Sadly mum's stay in the care home was short only 10 days but in that time everyone from being greeted at reception, the care team on my mum's floor and the nurses were made so welcome and mum was well looked after. The room was lovely and so pleased we were able to personalise it with photos etc. When
my mum died the management was amazing and very thorough in dealing with everything that needed sorting. Very happy with Waverley Grange
Reply from David Mclean, Customer Service Adviser at Waverley Grange Care HomeThank you for taking the time to leave your review. We do send our condolences for your loss. From the first visit, the warmth and caring of the team was immediately evident. It's a very hard stage of life to have to place a beloved parent into someone else's care, but we knew Mummy was in great hands. She got stuck in all the activities, and we came and went as if it were her own home. In the
later stages, we even did 24-hour shifts by Mummy's side, and the team looked after us so well, feeding us, supplying endless tea and allowing us a peaceful time with Mummy.

My mum was taken into Waverley Grange from the hospital for end-of-life care. Sadly she was only in there for 11 days but they were the best days for her due to the amazing care that she received.
Nothing was ever too much for them, changing her meals because she didn't like what was cooked (all food
was amazing) looking after all of her visitors, and making sure that she was never on her own too long.
All of the staff were very kind nurses, cleaners, and carers and I really couldn't have wished for a better place for her to spend her last days. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all.
Reply from Grace Langfield, Customer Service Adviser at Waverley Grange Care HomeThank you for your lovely review. My father moved to Waverley Grange to be close to us in 2021, I would recommend this care home. The management team are very good and the home runs smoothly. The care staff team are fantastic, very kind, attentive and professional.
Even though my dad preferred to stay mainly in his room, he felt part
of the Waverley Grange community, there are lots of activities and entertainment for the residents who want to take part.
I appreciated being able to visit my dad at any time day or evening and the support we received from the home in Dad's last days was a huge comfort.
Thank you to everyone at Waverley Grange.

Mum joined Waverley Grange Care Home on the 3rd of July and despite some normal trepidation has settled in well. Central to this is the community of like-minded residents and the scale of activities that bring them together, industry communal meals. We are very happy for Mum to be part of the Waverley
Grange community.

My mother was a resident at Waverley Grange Care Home for more than six years. I always found the staff polite, courteous and helpful. My mother always remarked how kind and friendly the staff were. In the final couple of months, before she died, she needed more care. She was always treated with dignity
and kindness. When she passed away, everyone was sensitive and caring.

A very good care home, the staff are attentive and caring and very accommodating to my many requests and involvement in the care of my mother. I practically lived in the home for many weeks (as I normally live overseas). I felt like I had become part of the family and am thankful for the support from

A modern well-conceived building surrounded by a garden gives a pleasant ambience. Modernly furnished with bright and light rooms/corridors. The atmosphere is generally good, with friendly staff. The food offered from a daily menu is variable, although special requests are accepted. Breakfasts are very
acceptable. Midday meal tends to be plain and stodgy with large portions which do not appeal. Some overcooking is evident, spoiling what could be tastier. An absence of salads, rice-based meals and vegetables.

My aunt was in Waverley Grange for more than 5 years and could not have received better care, both physically and emotionally. Her carers became like family to her when we couldn't visit through Covid lockdowns. They kept her going through the most difficult times and made an impossible situation bearable.
I cannot praise the staff at Waverley Grange enough, they have been just wonderful.

It has taken me a while to do this review but wanted to record our gratitude and admiration for Waverley Grange. My dad was in very poor health when he arrived in Dec 2020 and had almost been written off by the hospital. The staff at Waverley Grange supported him back to being the happy, humourous and
life-loving Dad that we had so missed. After years of managing independently, he was suddenly able to relax into being looked after in the kindest and most empowering way possible. He felt at home - among people he trusted and who he (and we) felt really cared about him. When Dad declined in health in May, the team got him swiftly admitted to hospital where he sadly died. The only thing he wanted in that week was to go back to Waverley Grange - his home and his friends as he told us repeatedly. I cannot think of a greater accolade for the manager and the whole Waverley Grange team. We can never express fully our gratitude to you for the happiness of his last months and would recommend you to everyone.

Waverley Grange suits my mothers needs extremely well. My mum was in a very poor state of health but within a week of being at the care home she responded very well to the diligent care and careful monitoring. She is now back to eating and drinking liquids to excellent levels. She is happy and comfortable
in her day to day routine. Access to see her is no problem, with of course the necessary Covid precautions and testing. The staff are very friendly and the management is superb.

Lacking in equipment which can be long waits. Room is a bit cramped and care staff need to open more space to sort this especially in the shower room. I was told to treat this as if it were my own home but because of Covid this is not easy.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.843)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.843) out of 10 for Waverley Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.843 for Waverley Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (224 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 261 Ratings = 4.843
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Waverley Grange Care Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have worked at the home for seven years and have been managing enquiries and show-around for the last two years. The best part of the job is seeing our residents so happy, and getting to work with our amazing team.

I live locally to the home and in my free time I enjoy exploring the outdoors. I love being active whether that be cycling or swimming in the sea.
