I felt the atmosphere was very friendly and homely. The carers made me feel very welcome and relaxed. Nothing was too much trouble. I was encouraged to join in the activities and I enjoyed all those I took part in. I will definitely be returning for more respite care.

It was wonderful to be able to visit my mother during these troubled times of a capsized world. What is particularly special at Sunrise of Virginia Water is the warmth and care provided by the exceptional staff here.

I have just visited my aunt for the first time since lockdown. It was all very well organised and protecting the staff and residents. Couldn't have asked for more. Well done to all the staff at Sunrise of Virginia Water.

Mum has been a resident since December 2018 and has received excellent care and attention. During the pandemic, we have been kept informed on her wellbeing and have been able to speak to her regularly. We enjoyed attending the regular family activities when the home was not in lockdown and look forward to future events. Highly recommend this care home.

My mum has been on the Garden Floor (reminisce) for the past three years and always been treated with kindness and respect. I want to thank all the team who have nursed and cared for Mum over the past few weeks during her illness and also for the support they have given me. She has proved to be one very tough lady, but her recovery is also due to all the loving care she has received. My family appreciate all the hard work and devotion, and cannot thank you all enough.
At Sunrise of Virginia Water our ultimate goal is to provide the best possible level of care we can. From our carers, nurses and activities team we strive to achieve a sociable and comfortable community our residents can call home. We are so happy to see the improvements made by your mother.
I have complained since 2018. Fallen on deaf ears re sub-standard quality of food, quality, portions, and disgusting preparation and neglect. Out of frustration made official complaint 27/2/2020. Take into account the obscene fees over £3,500 per week not acceptable. Plus, not all items on the menu. My mother is 97 years with dementia, very deaf and nearly blind and fragile.
Thank you for taking the time to review Sunrise of Virginia Water. Your feedback is important to us, as is the care and well-being of all of our residents. We would like to understand your concerns further and would be grateful if you could email more information to us on...
My mother-in-law has been a resident at Sunrise of Virginia Water for 9 months. We attended as Jazz evening yesterday for the residents and families. The whole evening was excellent from the food and drink to the entertainment. What really stands out for me is the care demonstrated by each and every member of staff no matter what their role is. A truly outstanding team your company should be very proud of.
Our team here at Sunrise of Virginia Water are so grateful for your comments. Our activities co-ordinator and the team work hard to provide engaging and stimulating activities for all of our residents, we are so glad to hear the activities provided are one of your favourite elements of our home.
Great looking place. Dementia care is good, staff are kind and caring. Residents need more stimulation and exercise, laundry loses and shrinks clothes, clothes come back unironed and room cleaning is haphazard, massive fees that are increased often. Costs separated between care and accommodation - why?

Every time I visited I was extremely impressed by the high level of care shown by the staff. I am so grateful for everyone involved in making my grandad feel comfortable. The food and facilities are excellent. However, it is the care of the staff which I will remember Sunrise for the most. Thank you for giving my grandad a great last few years.

This is my third visit as a respite resident (the last two Nov 18 and June 19 with my late husband). I have always been received by friendly staff and residents and always made to feel at home and welcomed. I would not hesitate to become a permanent resident if the need arose.

I visit with my wife usually once or twice a week to visit friends who have been in Sunrise of a number of months. The reception by the staff is always welcoming and helpful. It is obvious to us that the home is well run and that the senior staff are hands-on and aware of what is happening in the home. The residents including our friends are happy and as far as we know have no complaints

Since my mum came into the home I was worried. I have visited her every week and every staff member I've met from office, cleaner, careers, all involved, have been very friendly, polite, very helpful and caring. I don't worry about my mum anymore.

I have been resident here for 11 1/2 years and conditions have vastly changed in that time - not for the better. I was fit and very active when I arrived and now have a wheelie. 11 1/2 years ago residents used to chat and play cards etc till 9.20 - 10.00 in the evening and all the bus trips were fully booked - now we average 4 or 5 residents every trip. Nowadays the downstairs rooms are empty by 7.30 and everyone is back in their room. Residents are now much older and are happy to sit and while away the day in armchairs. I get very bored because there is little to do and there is nothing wrong with my brain.

Meet the Team (5)

I started with Avery Healthcare in 2023. I have worked in the Health & Social Care sector since I was sixteen. I love to see people live in a care home, having their life fulfilled, making memories, and living life to the fullest! Working in our residents' home is a great honour, and I still love my work and what each day brings.

I have had the privilege of working at our home since 2010. I am truly passionate about ensuring our residents have the best quality care giving their families peace of mind.
The importance of my role is to ensure that all the care and clinical aspects are met beyond expectation and that both the resident and family are supported to their fullest.
We have a dedicated and knowledgeable team who work together consistently empowering residents to maximise their ability to preserve independence with safeguarding in mind for all individuals. We are a caring family home for our residents.

Hi, my name is Samantha Wells and I am the Activities and Volunteer Coordinator at Virginia Water. I have been working here since August 2015.
I truly enjoy my job, getting to know all Residents individually and listening to their life stories. This is a chance to explore their past and gain an insight into their lives and some memorable and meaningful moments. At Virginia Water, we have a lovely activities team and we run the Live with Purpose Programme. This covers a variety of Activities enriching the mind, body and soul. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing our residents smiling, laughing and having a good time.

I started my career at the iconic Waldorf Hotel in London which inspired my passion for hospitality.
Unsocial hours and the birth of my daughter made me rethink my career and hence the transition to care home catering for the past 15 years. I have never looked back. I really enjoy catering for all our residents’ dietary requirements. It’s a very rewarding job and a privilege to cook for them in their home. A birthday celebration never goes by without a personalised cake. My team also support special events in the home.

With over 20 years of experience in hotel management I was in search of a new challenge. In joining the team at Virginia Water care home in February 2024 in this business administration role I felt I could encompass my knowledge and experience and challenge myself to adapt it into the care sector. I felt very privileged to be offered the position and am already loving getting to know the residents and working with the team here in a very friendly and welcoming environment. Whether it be billing queries from the residents or work related queries from the team members I am here to assist and I get great satisfaction from helping others. Nothing is too much trouble to ensure our residents happiness and their family’s peace of mind.
