I am so happy I finally took the plunge and moved my mother into Signature at Virginia Water. She had been living at home with live-in care for four years, but it was becoming increasingly difficult to take good care of her there, and all the admin and backup fell to me alone, which was very stressful.
The team at Signature were fantastic from start to finish, meeting me several times to reassure me they would take care of everything. They recommended an ambulance service to move her, which was something I had been worrying about. And one of the care team visited Mum at home and did a thorough review, so I was confident they would be able to take good care of her.

She has been there almost two months now and is much better than she was at home. She has good days and bad days, but the bad are fewer, and the good ones are much, much better than they were. And they take care of everything, so it has been transformative for me. I wish I had moved her years ago.

It was really difficult when my father and I realised we could no longer provide the level of care needed to keep my mother (who has dementia) safe. We took the tough decision that moving my mother into a facility would maximise her quality of life. After visiting a few care homes, Signature was the natural choice - we were struck by the beautiful and relaxing environment and the sense of calm as soon as we walked it.
Since my mother has been living at Signature, nothing has been too much trouble for the staff. They have been so welcoming and supportive and check in with us regularly when we visit. My mum has settled in really well because of this, and it has ensured the transition has been as smooth as possible. They helped arrange for her favourite chair to be moved into the home with her and regularly provides us with email updates after doctors check-ups etc.

We couldn’t be happier with Signature and would definitely recommend.

I was discharged from the hospital to Signature at Virginia Water, where I spent two weeks having respite care.
The paperwork was carried out efficiently by the administrative office staff to make my admission smooth and uncomplicated.
At first, I needed to rest and found my comfortable room to be very peaceful, and the staff were very kind and attentive. Later on, I was able to go to the dining hall for meals, where we all were extremely well served with a varied choice of menu each day. My family were welcomed with drinks and snacks, and we were able to sit in the attractive, secure garden on the lower ground floor. Also, an elderly friend was able to visit as the home was conveniently situated next to the station, and we enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea together. I attended the flower arranging, and there were keep fit sessions.

Signature is extremely well run with a dedicated, highly trained staff and has a happy, family atmosphere.

I came to Signature for two weeks of respite care following a spinal operation. I had, had four weeks here in 2017 following two operations. The two weeks have passed quickly, and I am much stronger. That is in many ways due to the quality of the care I have had. The home is very comfortable, and the staff at every level is welcoming and very professional. The way that they interact with the residents is a pleasure to see.

Excellent care and service during a very difficult year due to Covid. Unfair to write a negative review as due to Covid, a lot of services have to be curtailed. All the same, I have to be honest in my review but bear the difficult situations in mind, please.

Overall Experience

Our mother lived in Sunrise of Virginia Water for over thirteen years from when she was 80 until she was almost 94. She was very comfortable and happy there, and we, as her family, were always very pleased with her care. The building itself is lovely - bright and airy, with wide corridors and several comfortable and spacious sitting areas, all tastefully refurbished only two or three years ago. It was always spotlessly clean with never any unpleasant smells. Mum loved her individual room, which was equally light and airy and with views to the front where she could watch the world go by during her afternoon rests. The carers, staff and management team were always lovely - extremely helpful, kind and attentive to all of us, and especially so during the last very challenging year, and more recently, when our mother needed palliative care. The food was always good, and Mum enjoyed several activities including flower arranging, art, gentle exercises, listening to classical music and visiting entertainers. A lovely home.

My dear mum was very reluctant to go into a residential care home, but I finally managed to get Mum into Sunrise of Virginia Water for 3-weeks respite, and she loved it so much, she wanted to stay. I knew this was the right home for my mum, and I wasn’t wrong. It was the best 2-years for all the family as we got to spend lots of quality time with Mum, attend lots of fun and varied events, and Mum met lots of new friends. The manager and all the staff at Sunrise are amazing, and it was like one big happy family. Mum was very well cared for, and I will miss all the good times we all shared. COVID has been hard for everyone, but Sunrise took great care of all their residents, and as soon as we could start seeing our loved ones again, they pulled all the stops out to make visiting as safe as possible for everyone. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this lovely home to anyone looking for a caring, safe, fun and happy home for themselves or a loved one.

I went to Sunrise for respite after phenomena. My daughter visited two are homes and watched videos of both. We thought Sunrise was more homely! The carers were kind, compassionate, supportive and friendly, and I had every confidence in them. They always had time for a chat, never giving the impression they were rushing off to the next resident, however busy they were. It has a relaxed, homey atmosphere, and all the staff from the CEO down are approachable and friendly. The activities staff provided an excellent programme of occupations to keep all entertained body and soul and full of humour, fun and joke divine. Concierge, cleaning, laundry, maintenance all more than helpful, nothing too much trouble. The dining room was fun, and the staff helpful in finding different choices The kitchen surpassed themselves at Christmas with exceptionally delicious meals. From duck confit, roast salmon and braised lamb chops stood out. I stayed during the lockdown with the company, activities and left in May when restrictions eased. I was sad to leave the residents and staff at such a happy Sunrise, and we won the Sunrise quiz. Not being deaf, I found the lack of so unspooling in the bedrooms disturbing.

When I was looking for a home for my mother, Sunrise of Virginia Water stood out amongst the others that I'd visited, and that was because of the feeling of care for each resident that came through. After taking my mum in at the end of last year, she has just blossomed - gaining more confidence and just enjoying life - a testament to the initial impression of the whole place! The staff have been amazing, so not only is my mum happy, but my family has peace of mind.

This year I have been particularly impressed by the Sunrise approach to the Covid situation. At all times, I have felt that Mum has been very well cared for and perfectly safe.
