Our mother lived in Sunrise of Virginia Water for over thirteen years from when she was 80 until she was almost 94. She was very comfortable and happy there, and we, as her family, were always very pleased with her care. The building itself is lovely - bright and airy, with wide corridors and several
comfortable and spacious sitting areas, all tastefully refurbished only two or three years ago. It was always spotlessly clean with never any unpleasant smells. Mum loved her individual room, which was equally light and airy and with views to the front where she could watch the world go by during her afternoon rests. The carers, staff and management team were always lovely - extremely helpful, kind and attentive to all of us, and especially so during the last very challenging year, and more recently, when our mother needed palliative care. The food was always good, and Mum enjoyed several activities including flower arranging, art, gentle exercises, listening to classical music and visiting entertainers. A lovely home.

My dear mum was very reluctant to go into a residential care home, but I finally managed to get Mum into Sunrise of Virginia Water for 3-weeks respite, and she loved it so much, she wanted to stay. I knew this was the right home for my mum, and I wasn’t wrong. It was the best 2-years for all the family
as we got to spend lots of quality time with Mum, attend lots of fun and varied events, and Mum met lots of new friends. The manager and all the staff at Sunrise are amazing, and it was like one big happy family. Mum was very well cared for, and I will miss all the good times we all shared. COVID has been hard for everyone, but Sunrise took great care of all their residents, and as soon as we could start seeing our loved ones again, they pulled all the stops out to make visiting as safe as possible for everyone. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this lovely home to anyone looking for a caring, safe, fun and happy home for themselves or a loved one.

I went to Sunrise for respite after phenomena. My daughter visited two are homes and watched videos of both. We thought Sunrise was more homely! The carers were kind, compassionate, supportive and friendly, and I had every confidence in them. They always had time for a chat, never giving the impression
they were rushing off to the next resident, however busy they were. It has a relaxed, homey atmosphere, and all the staff from the CEO down are approachable and friendly. The activities staff provided an excellent programme of occupations to keep all entertained body and soul and full of humour, fun and joke divine. Concierge, cleaning, laundry, maintenance all more than helpful, nothing too much trouble. The dining room was fun, and the staff helpful in finding different choices The kitchen surpassed themselves at Christmas with exceptionally delicious meals. From duck confit, roast salmon and braised lamb chops stood out. I stayed during the lockdown with the company, activities and left in May when restrictions eased. I was sad to leave the residents and staff at such a happy Sunrise, and we won the Sunrise quiz. Not being deaf, I found the lack of so unspooling in the bedrooms disturbing.

When I was looking for a home for my mother, Sunrise of Virginia Water stood out amongst the others that I'd visited, and that was because of the feeling of care for each resident that came through. After taking my mum in at the end of last year, she has just blossomed - gaining more confidence and

This year I have been particularly impressed by the Sunrise approach to the Covid situation. At all times, I have felt that Mum has been very well cared for and perfectly safe. Communication has been excellent throughout the year. When available, vaccinations were administered quickly and efficiently
inspiring confidence in the system. The new visitor's room is wonderful, allowing me to resume weekly half-hour visits, which both Mum and I looked forward to and enjoy.

We live a long way from Sunrise and have been really impressed at how people are able to respond in an informed way wherever we contact them. I felt the atmosphere was very friendly and homely. The carers made me feel very welcome and relaxed. Nothing was too much trouble. I was encouraged to join in the activities and I enjoyed all those I took part in. I will definitely be returning for more respite care.

I have complained since 2018. Fallen on deaf ears re sub-standard quality of food, quality, portions, and disgusting preparation and neglect. Out of frustration made official complaint 27/2/2020. Take into account the obscene fees over £3,500 per week not acceptable. Plus, not all items on the menu.
My mother is 97 years with dementia, very deaf and nearly blind and fragile.

I have had the privilege of working at our home since 2010. I am truly passionate about ensuring our residents have the best quality care giving their families peace of mind.


The importance of my role is to ensure that all the care and clinical aspects are met beyond expectation and that both the resident and family are supported to their fullest.


We have a dedicated and knowledgeable team who work together consistently empowering residents to maximise their ability to preserve independence with safeguarding in mind for all individuals. We are a caring family home for our residents.

Hi, my name is Samantha Wells and I am the Activities and Volunteer Coordinator at Virginia Water. I have been working here since August 2015.


I truly enjoy my job, getting to know all Residents individually and listening to their life stories. This is a chance to explore their past and gain an insight into their lives and some memorable and meaningful moments. At Virginia Water, we have a lovely activities team and we run the Live with Purpose Programme. This covers a variety of Activities enriching the mind, body and soul. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing our residents smiling, laughing and having a good time.

Job Title: Head Chef/Dining Services Manager

I started my career at the iconic Waldorf Hotel in London which inspired my passion for hospitality.


Unsocial hours and the birth of my daughter made me rethink my career and hence the transition to care home catering for the past 15 years. I have never looked back. I really enjoy catering for all our residents’ dietary requirements. It’s a very rewarding job and a privilege to cook for them in their home. A birthday celebration never goes by without a personalised cake. My team also support special events in the home.

Job Title: Business Administrator Manager Joined: 2024

With over 20 years of experience in hotel management I was in search of a new challenge. In joining the team at Virginia Water care home in February 2024 in this business administration role I felt I could encompass my knowledge and experience and challenge myself to adapt it into the care sector. I felt very privileged to be offered the position and am already loving getting to know the residents and working with the team here in a very friendly and welcoming environment. Whether it be billing queries from the residents or work related queries from the team members I am here to assist and I get great satisfaction from helping others. Nothing is too much trouble to ensure our residents happiness and their family’s peace of mind.
