I brought my husband to Elstree Court Care Home on the recommendation of a social worker from the hospital, the best thing I have ever done. I'm not happy that he's in this state but this is the best place for him. I find it very comforting here and so does the rest of the family. I looked at a lot of places and none of them have come close to this one. I'm very happy that this home is looking after my husband of 54 years.
Nothing is ever too much trouble even though they are so busy! They all really seem to care about the residents. If we have a question about personal appointments a member of staff in admin/finance is always on hand and she is very friendly and understanding.
The manager and deputy manager have been very proactive in supporting my sister with the best ways to care for her ever increasing medical issues.
My father was admitted to Elstree Court on 23rd June 2023 and from the first day of admission, Dad received exemplary care from every member of staff. The carers were always professional and extremely caring to Dad, even when his condition worsened and he became frustrated as he couldn't speak clearly. Nothing was too much trouble, from his care to even standing him frequently to avoid him getting sore. As he deteriorated and became unresponsive near the end, they provided superb care supported by a great team of registered nurses and managers.
My father was admitted to Elstree in September 2022 still with 'capacity' but mobility problems. He died 3 months later. He was in an attic room, with no working lift to access lower level floors where activities took place. He was bedbound. Had 2 falls and 2 hospital admissions in 2 months following falling out of bed/chair. He was isolated in the attic room with no passing people to stimulate a once interested, intelligent man. He cried when I left him on one of my visits to him which was just so sad to experience. He was unhappy with being hoisted by certain staff. He wasn't happy at all sadly. Despite lots of emails to the manager about this issue and that issue (there were many) he wasn't able to move to a more central room on the ground floor which is what the family who pre-visited were shown where they had hoped he would be encouraged to engage in activities and talk with other residents. They were so sad when they saw where he ended up. He literally went downhill from admission.
We sincerely apologise about your concerns raised. I have reviewed the communication that we had through emails before your father’s admission to our care dated 9/08/22. I had sent photos of the room pre-admission, and you and your family agreed to proceed with the admission. It was so unfortunate...
Such a lovely coronation party in the dining room. My wife and I were invited and made to feel so welcome. Great atmosphere, live music and lots of lovely food. Thank you. The staff worked really hard to make sure everyone joined in and enjoyed themselves.
My father moved into Elstree Court Care Home at the end of December. After a short review period, he was moved to a large ground floor room and began to be included with other residents into the garden lounge to join in the daily activities which he takes full part in and enjoys. He says the food is good and the carers are very good. On arrival, he was more or less bedbound and sleeping most of the day on palliative care. he is now helped to get up and dressed every day and has a new lease of life. His care has been excellent.
"A credit to the local community"
I am a resident here. I must say I am very happy at the way I am looked after. The staff are caring and happy and I feel like I am part of a big family. Nothing is too much trouble and the carers are there if you need any help or if not you know you can also buzz for anything at any time. I look forward to spending the rest of my years at Elstree.
I have been satisfied with all the help that is offered. It has been a very difficult time with all the staff changes and all the masks worn etc but they do their best. It's not an easy task but am wishing for a better future for all of us.
Staff are very good and help when I need it. I love being here because I can do the things I love doing. And helping residents as well.
My brother is cared for well. Staff are caring and attentive. Any concerns are highlighted to me and any concerns I have are addressed. Cheerful and welcoming staff.
Friendly, welcoming staff. Encouraging to the resident to participate in activities although often resistant. They show a good level of care and thought for the resident's well-being.
I always find the staff very friendly when I visit and my sister looks well cared for. She lacks motivation due to her depression and I know she can sometimes be difficult to manage in the way of cleaning her teeth etc. It needs special care and patience at all times and I value the fact that the carers are kind and patient with her even though they are very often extremely busy and time is precious to them. The activities lady tries hard to get her to join in with the others but so far it has not happened - not for the want of trying on her behalf.
I am very happy with the services provided including caring and food, cleaning, and activities. All the staff are friendly.
I'm blown away by your kindness and thoughtfulness. You look after my gran with love, and I am humbled by this. It is so important to know your family is being cared for in such a good way! Thank you, an infinitely. Also, the food is amazing.
Always been happy with Mam being at Elstree Court. The friendly staff have always been welcoming, however busy they have been. A very clean nursing home with good facilities. The food always looks well presented and Mam always commented on it when she could. Keep up the good work Elstree Court.
My brother appears to have settled well in Elstree Court, he has praise for the carers and enjoys the food made available to him. However, my sister and I have found ourselves having to approach the care staff with issues that should have been noticed by them. The point is that if we were not advocates for him, would these issues be overlooked?
Thank you for your kind comments regarding the home, and we are sorry that not everything was as expected. Thank you for meeting with me to discuss the issues and we are pleased that your brother is settled, is happy, and that the issues are now resolved. If there is anything else that you would...
The care home is very welcoming and homely. I liver over 320 miles away and I can rest assured that my mother is happy and thriving at Elstree Court Care Home. This is my first visit to see my mum since the Covid pandemic and I can honestly say she is receiving the best care and attention.
My mother is happy with the care provided at Elstree Court. She says the staff are always kind and considerate. She has a large and pleasant room. I visit her on most days and I am always made very welcome by the kind and friendly staff.
Even though my parents were only at Elstree Court for a few months they were both treated with respect and dignity. The staff are first class and do an amazing.
