My mum has enjoyed staying here. She said that all the staff are friendly and helpful and would recommend to other people.

I found the management team very approachable, friendly and also the staff team made our visit to mum enjoyable.

My dad says he had an enjoyable time and the level of care was outstanding.

I (as his daughter) have noticed how kind the staff are and they treat my dad with a great deal of respect and friendliness.

From the moment I entered Elstree Court's front door I knew it was the right place for my dearly loved, seriously ill husband.

He was treated with love, respect and kindness. I am full of praise for the excellent care given by the wonderful staff, in his final weeks of life.

Thank you.

Genuine warm welcome on arrival, staff ready to help settle in. Very good home cooked food - with choice.

Medication given at appropriate times. Personal care was given with patience, respect and sensitivity. Felt able to ask staff for help when needed - always polite and ready to respond. I always feel safe and secure and well cared for - good experience.

Overall Experience

The experience of my Mum going into care was scary for me, it followed a stroke and I am coping with it alone.

The staff here are what makes all the difference, they truly care about my mum and despite her being given 4 days to 4 weeks to live she is actually improving 12 weeks later.

She has not been left to vegetate in bed, she is now down in the lounge in a wheelchair daily.

Minor medical needs that have come up have been spotted by staff and taken care of.

I visit daily and it feels like a second home.

Mum seems happy and very cared for which is one less worry for me.

The building and grounds are also lovely and peaceful but that’s just an aside really.

The management is also knowledgeable about mum's care and is also involved, quite a family there overall.

Sad situation but very happy.

All in all a constructive meeting. It would be very good to see more trips out regarding minibus being provided. Everything else is a very good service.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Care Advisor at Elstree Court Care Home

Thank you for your feedback. As the weather gets warmer we will be planning more outings for our Residents. We also have access to mini buses, as most of our Residents require wheelchair access and always welcome any suggestions by our Residents on new places to visit.

'I do like to be beside the seaside' - these words rang true on a lovely day this week. A large group of residents - with carers and nurses - enjoyed an afternoon on the promenade in glorious weather with blue skies and a calm sea.
Then came a super buffet which concluded with a gorgeous ice cream each.
Smiles beamed everywhere. This gives hearty thanks for a memorable day to such a devoted and caring staff.

God bless you all.

Staff members (nurses, carers and admin) are all very helpful and friendly. Also good at giving information.
In general happy with the service.
Only comment; Occasionally might have to wait for someone to come to help.

Suggestion; All residents be given a bracelet/necklace (instead of the big alarm).

I came into this care home after a three-week hospital period for at least a two-week period of respite care, longer if required.

I really enjoyed staying here. The staff and patients have been helpful.

Having been here for a short time my early impressions are positive.
Management welcoming and helpful.
Staff are friendly, kind and good at their jobs.
Patients need to be understanding that carers care for many other patients at the same time and sometimes need to wait a while for non-urgent help.

The atmosphere here is quiet and tranquil and much to my liking.

Overall, my father received excellent care over the 3 weeks he stayed at Elstree Court. A very homely atmosphere, with excellent attention from the staff. The only negative point was organisation of medication supply for my father (I had to organise the supply of three items in the short term).

Otherwise, everything was excellent. Thank you staff.
