My mum has been at this wonderful place for four years, and I can honestly say I wouldn't want her in any other care home but this one. All the staff are friendly and compassionate and spend time really getting to know each resident. My mum is so happy here, and although her Alzheimer's has got worse,
I'm confident that she is being well looked after and has a better social life than I do! It's a happy place with lots of parties and celebrations, which each resident can be part of in their own way.

I originally placed my mother in respite in Heffle Court in 2014 so that, as her main and only carer, I could take some time out from my duties as I was extremely stressed at the time. My main concern with placing her in respite was that she could be very, very difficult due to her Alzheimer's and also
very aggressive. I needn't have worried as the wonderful and incredible people that work at Heffle showed such kindness and professionalism that I felt totally happy and indeed she stayed for an extra week so that I could fully recover.
In 2016 when it became impossible for me to continue looking after her the decision was taken to permanently place her into care so Heffle Court took her in and there she has remained since. I could not be happier with the fantastic service they have provided to my mother and I could not wish for a better place for her, all the staff are incredibly patient with both my mother and myself and I feel like they are an extension of my family.

My husband, ages 75-years, has had dementia for 8-years or so. He has been in Heffle for 18-months. I have always been impressed with how kind and caring the staff are, including everyone in compositions and activities of everyday life. My husband started there on the floor where residents were mobile,
but last summer, had a fall. He had two weeks in hospital for the hip, and back at Heffle, he went up to the nursing floor where for the last 6-months, has been very settled and well cared for. I've been impressed they are Covid-free. Now look forward to visits as per pre-Covid!

I am truly amazed and very grateful for the level of care shown by the staff at Heffle Court for my mother. They are wonderful. The level of care received is outstanding. It is an enormous comfort to me to know she is happy and very well looked after when I cannot visit as often as I used to. Thank

There's always a happier atmosphere even if some are low - they try to lift spirits. I sometimes wonder if all residents are getting enough to drink and eat, even though there is always plenty of food available - some may need help occasionally.

My wife has been a resident of this care home for more than 18 months. The home is well maintained with excellent facilities and is very welcoming to residents and visitors alike. The staff are warm, friendly and very caring to the residents, with a kindness and compassionate approach that I cannot
speak too highly of. Suffice to say - My wife is happy and settled here and I am very lucky to have found such a haven for her to cope with her mixed dementia condition.

My Mother has dementia and been a resident of Heffle Court for the last five years. She had been living elsewhere for a few months and I was extremely happy when we were able to move her. Heffle Court is one of the most wonderful places and has a brilliant attention to both residents and their families.
I have always been made to feel very welcome and my Mother receives excellent care and attention.

In early 2016, I decided along with professionals that my mother at 95 years needed to go into care. Living 5000 miles away and being an only child, the emotional stress I was experiencing having to find a care home I felt suited my mother's needs, care and safety was so important.

After visiting

the list of homes given to me, none were suitable, to put it mildly, I then came upon Heffle Court. I knew from just entering the home, the tour and the facilities and listening to the carer showing me around I felt there was care and love for the residents. It has been 18 months and I can only say my mother has settled in, looks relaxed and is so well cared for. No one wants to make the decision to put one's parent into care, but I would definitely recommend Heffle Court.

My mother in law had dementia and lived in Heffle Court Nursing Home and she was extremely happy there. She developed an illness and had to be admitted to hospital. The home helped me get her back to them for end of life care. The staff were absolutely amazing in caring for her in her last few weeks.
I live in Australia but spent 3 weeks with her. The staff also looked after me and gave me amazing support. The staff looked after her as if she was their own mother, it was wonderful to witness. I cannot speak highly enough of Heffle Court. I will never forget them, truly amazing experience.

We have been visiting Heffle Court Care Home with Nursing since August 2016. The staff are all always friendly and helpful and always offering a cup of tea. The residents are cared for well, the staff are always on hand and caring.
Activities are always offered. Plenty of drinks for the residents.
The cleaners are also very caring towards residents offering to clean glasses and offering tissues for sneezes.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My overall assessment of this home is that "care" is the key word. I cannot speak too highly of the staff's attitude, both to the resident and to me. The atmosphere is friendly, but nonetheless, quietly efficient. I feel the level of staff could be increased to enable more individual contact and care
and to make it more possible for the existing staff to be effective. I do feel there are occasions when they need to be in more than once place at the same time. That said, there is never any sign of panic. I feel staff training must be good.to obtain the level of competence shown.

My requirements are; safety; physical and (as far as the illness allows) mental well-being; maintenance of dignity and respect for his wishes. All of these are delivered.

The building and contents are looking "tired" but aren't of primary importance. Laundry has been a problem: 2, possibly 3, tweed jackets put through the washing machine - not acceptable but complaint being followed up.

My father has not been the easiest of residents to deal with, however, the staff and management have been wonderful not only with him but in trying to make things better for him. They go out of their way to think of ways to bring him out of himself. I am constantly overwhelmed by their kind, caring
and understanding attitude to what can be very volatile situations. I simply cannot praise this home and it's incredible staff and management enough.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.789)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.789) out of 10 for Heffle Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 35 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.789 for Heffle Court is calculated as follows: ( (337 Excellents x 5) + (64 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 412 Ratings = 4.789
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Heffle Court is based on 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2, which has been reached with 34 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
