Over the past year my sister has been extremely well cared for. Due to Parkinson's she needed extra care and I cannot thank enough all the staff of Caer Gwent. She sadly passed away very recently, this was handled with great dignity, love and care. The nursing staff were superb as were the carers they looked after me as well as her. She enjoyed the chats, Sammy who organised outings and entertainment, the banter with the admin and cleaning staff, Clare the Manager where nothing was too much trouble. The Restaurant staff who went to so much trouble to provide alternative choices when it became too much to eat, the list goes on. A cheerful happy home from home. Thank you.
Your kind words mean a great deal to the whole team. We are so pleased to hear that you felt your sister was cared for with dignity, compassion and kindness throughout her time with us. Supporting both residents and their loved ones...
Immediately we (son and daughter) saw a step up in the level of health care and the communication to us regarding this. After a couple of weeks we received a draft healthcare plan (over 20 pages) that we were encourage to input to. We also received updates on changes to Mum's medication. This was so reassuring, as we now knew Mum was receiving the care she needs.
Due to frailty, Mum had started to become socially isolated, which was not good for her. Now she takes meals in the dining room with other residents to chat to and goes to activities that are organised on-sight (and occasional trips off-site). Meals are varied, and there are always options if she doesn't like the menu proposals.
Following a review, we have confirmed Mum will be staying
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review of Caer Gwent. We are delighted to hear that your mum's transition into residential care was supported with sensitivity and understanding by our team. We understand what a significant change this can be, and we're pleased that both you...
We are so happy my Mum chose to go into Caer Gwent when at 96 she could no longer look after herself. It is a wonderful place it has recently been redecorated, the rooms are spacious, comfortable, modern and smell lovely. The entertainment is top notch, every time I go in there is someone singing, playing instruments or Sammy (the entertainment leader) is playing a quiz, reading or the residents are gardening in the beautiful garden or doing art. The dining room is so pretty. Laid up so nicely with flowers and other decorations. The residents have an amazing choice of food and something always seems to be cooking. The afternoon cakes are freshly made everyday. And are delicious. The staff are so kind and caring and very friendly. They are always eager to help my Mum with whatever she needs. The front office staff and the manageress are very friendly, love to chat and have a laugh. It truly is a wonderful place and we are so happy my Mum is there.
We are delighted to hear that your mum has settled so well at Caer Gwent and that you feel confident in the care and support she receives. It's wonderful to know that the environment, activities and dining...
Went in to see my friend last week. As usual I was in just after 3pm. The team trolley had been round but the lovely Sammy went to fetch us both a drink. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff are all so welcoming and helpful. They take their time to have a nice chat too. My friend is looked after very well, enjoys the food and is looking so well now. I have enjoyed some of the homemade cakes too! Its a wonderful 'family' feel, beautifully decorated but the staff make all the difference. I really enjoy my visits too. I would thoroughly recommend.
We are delighted to hear that you had an enjoyable experience and that the team made you feel so welcome. It's especially lovely to know that nothing felt like too much trouble and that the supportive,...
For eighteen years I have been very grateful to be here in Caer Gwent. At first it was with my husband until his death. Since then my experience has continued to be excellent and I am very grateful to be here. I have appreciated easy access for my friends to visit. On the whole the staff are caring, kind and understanding - especially the manager.
We are truly honoured that you have chosen Caer Gwent as your home for so many years and we are delighted to hear that your experience has remained so positive. It is especially meaningful to know that we were able to support you and...
Mum has a choice for her meals and if she fancies something different the chef always tries to accommodate her. She has made some lovely like minded friends and is very happy, which in turn makes us happy.
Thank you to the hard working team at Caer Gwent for all that they do to make our mum, and the other residents, so comfortable.
It is wonderful to know that she is able to enjoy a wide range of activities, as well as...
From the time I first arrived here I found the staff so kind and helpful and have been here six weeks and my views have not changed. People who come to visit are also very impressed. I honestly do not think I would find anything better from management to reception.
We are so pleased to hear that from the moment you arrived you felt welcomed and supported and that your positive impression of the home has continued throughout your stay. Your comments about the kindness and helpfulness of...
I can imagine this can be extremely challenging at times, especially with some lonely or distressed service users, particularly if neurodivergence comes into play as people age! Absolute Earth Angels!!!
The food is reported as extremely good and heads above other places from experience...like hotel meals everyday!! (From a somewhat fussy eater!) Gran especially likes the personal service from the chef who takes time to speak to diners himself, or so im told!
From a very grateful granddaughter.....thankyou.. on behalf of myself and my family, and Gran!! Xxx
It is wonderful that you recognise the compassion, professionalism and genuine care shown...
My Mother continues to enjoy excellent care from the staff of this wonderful home. Both my brother and I, live overseas and it gives us great peace of mind that our dearest mother is looked after so well by all the members of staff that work at Care Gwent. On a recent visit with my mum, she advised that all of the people who worked at the home were kind, helpful and responsive to her needs. What more could we ask for? We receive regular updates on her care from Eleni and her team and offers of Facetime with mum as an extra level of contact. Mum likes her room and particularly enjoys the many musical recitals provided by the home. I have pleasure in recommending this home to anyone who would want their kin to enjoy their final times in such a wonderfully presented and staffed home.
Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and heartfelt review. We are so pleased to hear that your mother continues to enjoy excellent care at Caer Gwent. My 94 year old mother has been in Caer Gwent care home for nearly three years now. From the outset the standard of care has been superb, gone are the days of my opinion of care homes being Gods watiing room! My mum has a better social life than me! The entertainment provided is so thoughtful and relevant to the audience. The main advantage of Caer Gwent is the friendly and genuine positivity of the whole staff generate from receptionists to cleaning, kitchen and carers. Well done to all staff.
Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful review. We are delighted to hear that your mother has enjoyed such a positive experience over the past three years at Caer Gwent. It is lovely to know that the care she receives has given you peace of mind and that her social life and the activities...
The first few weeks were difficult for Mum, as it was a big change, but the constant attention and encouragement of the staff soon started to make her feel at home. They were more than happy to change her room lighting to accommodate her poor eyesight and take her around the home until she got used to the layout. The activities during the day and the great choice of food all help to make this a highly recommended Care Home.
Thank you so much for your lovely review and for sharing your mother's experience at Caer Gwent. We're delighted to hear that she has settled well and that your family enjoy visiting the home. The early weeks of such a big change can be challenging, so it's wonderful to know that the team's...
Caer Gwent has been exactly what our dad needed. The staff are kind, respectful and experienced and he has been made to feel very welcome. The living spaces are luxurious and comfortable, the food excellent, with plenty of choice, and the garden is lovely. There are lots of activities and events and the atmosphere at Caer Gwent is a happy, relaxed one. My sister and I are both extremely happy with the way our Dad has settled in.
It means a great deal to hear your kind words about our team and the care they provide and that you have found everyone to be kind,...
Sadly, a serious health issue meant she recently required end-of-life care. During this period, staff were (as ever) kind, caring, and professional, both to her and to the family. We had absolutely no doubt she was in the best hands, and we were thankful for the kindness that both she, and her family, were shown during this time.
We know that moving from home into a care setting can be an emotional change, so we are really pleased to hear that our team helped your partner's mum feel welcomed, included and supported to build new connections through...
Mum was bought in for emergency respite care due to my Dad suddenly being rushed into hospital. All of the staff took great care of her immediately. Unfortunately my Dad was on end of life care but within a week it had been arranged for him to spend his last hours with Mum which was wonderful. Since then everybody has made sure both Mum and myself are doing well. Mum is always telling me how kind and caring everybody is. She is now well settled and has started going to some of the activities, chatting more and seems generally far happier. Thank you to everyone for everything you do. We love you all!
Thank you so much for your heartfelt review at such a difficult time. We are very sorry for your loss and feel honoured to have supported your family so that your dad could spend his final hours with your mum. It means a great deal to hear that our team responded quickly when your mum arrived for...

I would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff who made my mother's stay such a great experience, the kindness and care she received was second to none, to see her laughing and smiling was a joy, thank you all very much

We're truly grateful for your kind words and delighted to hear how much your mother enjoyed her stay-seeing residents laughing and smiling is what we strive for every day. Your comments about...
We really didn't want her to ever be on her own, or to feel frightened or lonely at any time, and wanted someone to be available to care for her whenever she needed. Mum having access to 24/7 care was crucial for her wellbeing and ongoing support, as well as for our own peace of mind. We felt that a care home could provide that level of care and support.
I visited Caer Gwent before we made a final decision, met many of the staff, and was very impressed. Everyone was friendly, polite, and it felt right straightaway. The lounges are beautifully presented, decorated, and light, bright, and welcoming. It all helped with that very difficult decision about Mum moving into care.
Whilst the transition into care can be challenging, both for a new resident and their family, my mother as been welcomed and cared for brilliantly. I can't thank you enough for the kindness and support you have shown to my mother and our family.
Thank you so much for your heartfelt review and for sharing your experience of Caer Gwent. As a family we have immense praise for the care provided to our mother. We are truly thankful to all the staff for the friendship and care, both daily and nursing, shown to our mother. We have not seen our mother smile and chat so much as she did in the past 5 months. Our gratitude goes out to all the staff, and Caer Gwent is a truly special home.
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words and for taking the time to share your experience. My name is Clare and I am the Registered Manager at Caer Gwent. I've been part of the Caer Gwent team for over 20 years, starting as a care assistant and working my way up through various roles before becoming Registered Manager in 2021. Caer Gwent is a really special place and it means a lot to me.
I have an open-door policy and always enjoy getting to know our residents and their families. I’m passionate about creating a caring, homely environment where everyone feels valued, supported and truly part of our extended family.

I am a Registered Nurse with an MBA in Health Care Management and have been with Guild Care since 2021. As Clinical Lead I oversee the clinical team and nurses to ensure that all areas are functioning correctly in line with CQC and the NMC.
I oversee medication management and also conduct clinical assessments for new residents before they move into our home. An essential part of my role is liaising with families to keep them updated on their loved one's health and care plans.

I have been part of the Guild Care family for over 20 years. I worked my way up from Care Assistant and Care Supervisor into my current role as Deputy Manager - Resources.
My previous experience in caring for our residents has been invaluable in my current role where I manage staffing and rotas as well as oversee care plans. I also deputise for the Care Home Manager as needed.
I love the family environment at Caer Gwent and really enjoy interactions with our residents and their families. We really are one big family!

My name is Emma and I’m the Housekeeping Manager at Caer Gwent. I first joined Guild Care in 2014 and spent many years at Haviland House, where I took great pride in creating a clean, welcoming environment for our residents and their families. In September 2023, I was proud to take on the role of Housekeeping Manager here at Caer Gwent, following the retirement of my lovely predecessor.
I now oversee both housekeeping and maintenance, making sure everything is well looked after so our home feels safe, comfortable and cared for. What I enjoy most is supporting my team and helping to make Caer Gwent a place our residents truly enjoy calling home.

My name is Staci and I’m the Practice Development Facilitator at Caer Gwent. I originally qualified as a teacher in South Africa and now use my experience to support and guide our amazing team. I make sure all new team members receive the training they need to feel confident and meet the standards of their roles.
I also work closely with our whole team to support ongoing learning and development, helping everyone continue to grow in their roles and provide the very best care for our residents.

My name is Leah and I’m the Administrator at Caer Gwent. I’ve been part of the Guild Care family for 15 years, starting out in various care roles before moving into my current position.
I love helping people and really enjoy getting to know our residents and their families. Caer Gwent has such a warm, welcoming feel – it truly is like one big family, and I’m proud to be a part of it.
