Very pleased and relieved to report that my sister has settled well and happily at Glen Arun and her general health and appearance have much improved. Her care seems to be excellent and the staff take a lot of trouble to be friendly and talk to her all the time. What we can see looks very clean and
she loves the meals. Because of Covid restriction we have only seen the conservatory and bedroom. The staff we have encountered are very pleasant and helpful.

The staff were very welcoming and took the time to get to know my brother. The nursing team were extremely competent with his medical needs. The management wasn't above and beyond. Very caring and efficient with my brother's care and discharge home. I am so grateful for the support they also gave me.

Due to Covid restriction, I am unable to comment on some facilities.
I am very pleased with Glen Arun Horsham. The staff are very pleasant and helpful with my sister-in-law who is very happy there.
The food is varied and she loves it. The room is always clean and tidy as seen on rare visits. We have
only been in the conservatory for our visits.

My mother was admitted to Glen Arun in mid December. She was settled in very well from her previous private dwelling. My mother is bedridden and unable to do much for herself. Glen Arun have coped very well with these circumstances which can't be easy for anyone. The care and food etc, are all good
to very good.
I note the fees have quite a hefty increase. I note also, a massive new extension is to be built at the rear.

My mother has received excellent care from all staff. The manager has spoken with me and explained everything to me also answered any questions or worries I might have to my complete satisfaction and understanding. They have all kept my mother pain free and treated her with respect and compassion. I
cannot praise Glen Arun enough.

I will always be thankful to the staff and General Manager at the Glen Arun Care Home. My mother, who suffered from severe dementia and required assistance for the most basic of functions, spent her last 3 months in this home where she was happy and well cared for by the fantastic staff. With the family
visiting almost daily, we were always made to feel welcome by the accommodating team and could clearly see the care and dignity with which the residents were treated. My mother always appeared well-kempt and content. The home, complete with a lovely garden, was clean and had plenty of activities to help entertain the residents. This was not the first home we chose but it was the last, I could not recommend Glen Arun highly enough, it was all we could want.

The care given to my mother in the six months here gave our family complete peace of mind. Management and staff all do an excellent job in their roles, and I would not hesitate to recommend this care home, in pleasant surroundings with a good activity programme. Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions,
staff were working under difficult circumstances, but well done to all. The proposed building works will make this home even better.

Glen Arun looked after my mother with extreme care for six months. All staff very caring and helpful. Both management and administration were always available to discuss issues. Nice home with pleasant surroundings/grounds. In normal circumstances, good activities programme, but unfortunately due to
Covid, many had to be cancelled. My mother felt safe and secure, and I would have no hesitations in recommending Glen Arun. The new building plans can only be a bonus.

I've been impressed by Glen Arun. They've helped Dad really settle in, and he keeps saying how well he's being looked after. All the staff are very caring and approachable, and I feel his nursing needs are well provided for. Also, the garden is lovely to sit out in to visit with family.

My mother has now passed away. During her five and a half years in Glen Arun, she was well cared for, loved and treated with the upmost respect, I commend the manager and his staff for the excellent service provided. The one downside was the sort of care which went up every year! I only hope the staff
received some of this.

My Mother had been a resident at Glen Arun for nearly 6 years. It was not how I would have wished her to spend her last days but as there was no choice I am glad we were able to place her in Glen Arun. I really couldn't fault the care she received from the start. Her room was very nice with a door leading
out into the lovely garden. The staff were always very welcoming when I visited and were happy to make the visits as pleasant as possible wheeling her into the garden when the weather permitted or into the conservatory for a more private time. Cups of tea and biscuits always to hand and soft drinks for the great-grandchildren when they visited. Whenever she was poorly the nursing staff were immediately on the case and any treatment carried out diligently. Towards the end of her life, they kept my sister informed of her situation and the manager couldn't have been more helpful in arranging covid safe visits. In her last hours, the night staff were so very caring and helpful.

It is difficult for me to answer many of the questions listed below, as my mother has only been in the home since January 2021, and visitation has been strictly limited because of Covid. I have never been in my mother's room or any of the common rooms, for example. But I can say that my mother is being
well taken care of by very kind, caring and competent staff members. I am extremely pleased with the home and would highly recommend the facility. Management and staff are a pleasure to deal with, and I have peace of mind.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.177)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.177) out of 10 for Glen Arun Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.863 for Glen Arun Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (69 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 80 Ratings = 4.863
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.314 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Glen Arun Nursing Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 57 registered maximum number of service users is 11.4. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.4 = 0.614
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
