Barchester Westlake House Care Home offers first class care and comfort in Horsham, West Sussex.

Located in a leafy rural countryside setting, yet local to picturesque and thriving Horsham Town Centre, Westlake is a warm, friendly and an inviting home, offering first-class 24-hour nursing and residential care in West Sussex.

Less than a five-minute drive to the nearest rail station, with plenty of local amenities on the doorstep, Westlake is proud of its beautifully maintained and nurtured gardens which both residents and visitors to the home can enjoy all year around. The home is also delighted to have received a 'Good' in their latest CQC inspection in July 2019.

A dedicated and experienced team are passionate about providing quality care that affords the best possible alternative for those who are no longer able to manage at home. Staff empower residents to regain independence, choice and freedom in their lives in a safe and comfortable setting.

Westlake has en-suite, fully furnished bedrooms which can be personalised, beautiful lounge areas with pretty views as well as elegant dining rooms in a relaxed atmosphere. A team of highly qualified and attentive staff really focus on the individual needs of residents with a bespoke care plan for each person.

Westlake House are delighted to be offering free Wi-Fi to residents and visitors. This allows residents more ways of keeping touch with their loved ones. Bedrooms are also set up with a Sky connection and phone line should you wish to make a private arrangement for this.

Welcome on arrival, friendly staff helped me settle in. Pleasant room on the ground floor. Excellent food menu, well cooked and presented both in room and dining room. Did not use the activities, as only there for 2 weeks post op care, but used service of hairdresser. Happy stay miss them all very
much. Would not hesitate to recommend Westlake House at this point in time.

Wonderful, warm welcome from staff as I entered. All staff introduced themselves and asked my name and permission to use it.
Most caring, kind approach to residents I've seen in any care home I've visited.
Home is beautifully looked after, immaculately kept - more like a hotel.

I was admitted to Westlake House Care Home for respite care after a fall at home when I needed hospital treatment.
My husband had been a resident at Westlake House Care Home for nine months, so my family knew I would receive very good care.
I am now a permanent resident.

Our mum is currently a resident at Barchester Westlake House Care Home and had been for nine months following two weeks respite care.
The home is always welcoming, extremely clean, warm bright and sunny.
The staff are also very welcoming, caring, available to answer any queries etc.
The residents
are encouraged to dine together, if able, in the dining room. The food is always plentiful and flavoursome.
There are activities daily which residents are taken to if unable to manage themselves.
Westlake is not the nearest home to us however it was and is an excellent choice which I would not hesitate in recommending to anyone.
There has also been a new manager appointed in our time, her door is 'always open' and the manager is an asset to the team along with the admin assistant, home administrator and the whole nursing team and carers.
Mum is currently very poorly but I have peace of mind knowing she is cared for as well as I could if possible.

My father received two months of hospice care at Barchester Westlake House Care Home. The staff provided an incredibly high standard of care to ensure he was comfortable during his final moments. The family were able to spend many hours in the beautiful sunny garden with him. He enjoyed the delicious
food and friendly atmosphere. Westlake House made such a difference to our family and I thank them deeply for going above and beyond in caring for my father. Their support meant that we made many precious memories at a very difficult and painful time.

The staff and home were very inviting. Reception area was bright and welcoming. Everywhere looked clean and comfortable for residents and there is a good mix of outings and recreation. Had a lunch there and the food was good. My brother is being well cared for and seems very content.

Barchester Westlake House Care Home and all care staff are wonderful. Mum receives excellent care with humanity and respect. All in care are encouraged to get involved in the social events and to make friends if they want to but are not forced to.

Our mum came here needing a lot of care and all the staff have been there to help and support over the last few months, keeping us informed every step of the way, nothing was too much for them, always there to help in any way that they could to make Mum comfortable and in no pain.

My father is looked after exceptionally well.
His safety, well-being and care are not only catered for amazingly, but over and beyond our expectations. The nurses, carers and all the staff are wonderfully kind. The food is excellent! The room is kept spotlessly clean and his laundry is returned quickly
and is always perfect. The activities are always a highlight of the day!

Mum came to Westlake for respite care following a hospital stay. She's been a permanent resident for 2yrs now. We've found staff cares for Mum with empathy, dignity, and respect. Mum benefits from easy access to multi-agency support from the wider community NHS team, including community mental health
support, community matron, audiologist, GP, and optician. There is a holistic focus on wellbeing and Mum enjoys her hairdresser and chiropody appointments and looks forward to the daily entertainment [especially musicians/singers]. The Westlake team has made day-to-day living achievable and enjoyable for Mum and has given peace of mind to the family, as well as supported a quality of life for Mum, we couldn’t achieve at home. From my first visit, I observed healthy interactions between the staff team and residents, speaking with kindness and respect. There is always a friendly welcome from the team and time to talk about Mum’s care. Mum now feels cared for and looks forward to each day.

I visited Barchester Westlake House Care Home, Horsham, in December along with several members of the town band. One of our long-serving band members is currently a resident in the care home and we thought it would be a lovely surprise for him if we visited to play a selection of Christmas carols.
I
cannot praise the staff at Westlake House enough, right from the very first phone call to arrange the visit, the communication regarding where and when to play on the day and organising the mini concert - everyone was so helpful. The reception we received from staff and audience was fantastic, Needless to say, our ex-band member was very surprised to see some of his friends again and I’m sure our mini concert will be remembered for a long time. The town band play at many events throughout the year and I can honestly say this was one of the nicest, most appreciative venues we have ever performed. Thank you, we will be back!

My friend came to Westlake House late in 2022. My first and lasting impression is how caring and responsible the staff are towards their residents. Occasionally, I have had the opportunity to have lunch, and this has been very good. I, myself, had issues not long ago, so the range of food is ideal for
me also.

Hello, my name is Christine and I am the General Manager here at Westlake House. Welcome to our Website.


I am a General Registered Nurse with over 30 years’ experience working within the NHS and the Independent Sector. I joined Barchester as a Clinical Development Nurse in 2020 and continued to develop my managerial and clinical skills. I was proud to become the General Manager at Westlake House in 2024. I bring a wealth of experience and knowledge with me from my time as a nurse and supporting and training care and nursing teams. At Westlake House we are dedicated in delivering kind, caring and holistic care. Person centred care is at the heart of everything my team and I will provide for you. We will take the time to get you know you and deliver a first class service. I am passionate about working closely with my team to continue to grow their skills and the wonderful care and support they offer to all the residents as well as to each other.

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2022

I began my nursing career in Italy and chose to pursue my passion further in the UK.


I have a strong background in providing care to a diverse range of residents' needs and I understand the challenges that they may encounter in day-to-day life. I enjoy working closely alongside our residents and their families to ensure that they receive the utmost level of person-centred care & support that they require, whilst also assisting them to achieve their goals no matter how big or small.


As Deputy Manager, my overall aim is to support the team by working closely alongside our General Manager to ensure the highest standards of quality and accuracy.

I am the Head Chef at Westlake house. I classically trained as a Chef since 1989 with in Michelin star restaurants and have a NVQ in nutrition and hydration. I have been a chef with Barchester since June 2000 and have lead the chef and hospitality team here at Westlake House since April 2025. I have a passion for patisserie and all foods and love to try new ideas and menus. I am so proud of our team, we really do provide an outstanding quality food and we meet with residents regularly to ensure our menu reflects their favourite food’s. I love meeting and getting know our residents and their loved ones and cooking them their favourite meals. I have a passion for home grown and locally sourced produce, and I am very proud of the kitchen garden we have here at Westlake House.

Before my position at Westlake, I was a Maintenance Manager at a local airfield, and I am looking forward to taking the maintenance position to great heights here.


My role means that every day is different; one-minute l am a plumber, then next an electrician, then a painter & decorator – just to name a few of the things l do!
I enjoy all the discussions that I have with the residents here at Westlake and every day they teach me something different. I enjoy working alongside and discussing with residents the different ways to do things.

Pearl joined Westlake House in April 2020. Pearl has many years of experience in a similar role. She has brought a refreshing new enthusiasm to our housekeeping team and our residents.

I joined the Barchester family in November 2024 and have instantly felt welcome and supported. As an activity coordinator, I am passionate about getting to know our residents and delivering person-centred care and activities to all residents, an approach supported by a holistic, whole-home view.


I have been in a Care support role since 2019 and an Activity Coordinator since 2020. I love that my role brings laughter and joy to others. It is so wonderful seeing people engaging in an activity they enjoy and interacting with each other. I am very passionate about Intergenerational projects, as something magical happens when old and young get together.

Daniela started at Westlake House in June 2022. Daniela works on our reception and will meet you with a smile. Following Daniela's previous career in the care industry, she loves to chat with our residents and relatives in between supporting our administrator.

Job Title: Maintenance Officer Joined: 2019

After 20 years as a Customer Services Manager for a local Housing Association once taking voluntary redundancy I decided on a complete career change. I took a minibus driving course, brushed up my DIY skills and became a Maintenance Assistant.


Now there is no greater job satisfaction than as part of the Westlake Maintenance Team giving the best possible customer service we can to our residents, fixing whatever needs to be fixed and sharing the experiences as we go out on one of our regular trips in the minibus.


Making a difference during their stay with us is what it is all about and getting to know the residents and their families and learning about their varied and amazing lives makes the job all the more enjoyable.

Sheila Elliott

Job Title: Residents Representative Joined: 2023

Sheila Elliott is our new Resident Representative at Westlake House.


She has been selected by our residents as well as staff to take on the role of our Residents' Representative. This position within the home is one of many responsibilities. Sheila will work alongside the residents as their trusted confidant. All topics of improvement, worries, complaints and praises within the home will be handed over to Sheila, where it will then be mentioned in our monthly Residents and Relatives meeting that is held every first Monday of the month.


We look forward to working with Sheila to improve all aspects of life at Westlake House.

My name is Florica Negrean, and I joined Barchester Healthcare in 2022 as a Senior Carer. I have worked in residential care for many years, and I really enjoy getting to know residents and finding out about them and their lives.


I have been one of the Speak Up Champions at Westlake House since 2023. I am very passionate about my role and ensuring that our residents and staff all feel safe and happy.

My name is Kerry, and I am a Carer and the Dementia Champion at Westlake House. I have been at Westlake since 2022. I am very passionate about my role and delivering the highest quality care for our wonderful residents. My role as Dementia Champion allows me to be a voice for our residents and provides me with the knowledge and training to best support our residents and their families.


I am currently working towards my NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care and am enjoying using my years of experience to further my education.

I was born in a small village in Zimbabwe called Ntabazinduna ( mountain of the chiefs), on the outskirts of Bulawayo.
Our house was a stone's throw from the main government hospital called Mpilo - meaning Health.
I always loved to see doctors and nurses go in and out of the hospital, but I never thought I would be a nurse one day.
I came to the UK in November 1999. I began working in Westlake House in 2002 for 6 months and came back in 2004 until 2019. Now l’m back again after a 3-year absence.
Westlake has always felt like my hometown to me. Wherever I’ve been, l always wished to come back home to Westlake House. What a great Home, a great team and supportive management.
There is no place like Westlake House; our residents, relatives and visitors all echo the same sentiments.
When l do retire, l will be forever grateful for having been part of this fine establishment and having had the opportunity to fulfil my childhood dream.
