Etheldred House is a purpose-built care home, providing nursing and residential person-centred care to adults aged 65+ including those living with dementia.

The care home, which offers long term and respite care is situated in the village of Histon with good access to local shops and a library. Cambridge city centre is five miles away.

Etheldred House is divided into four houses over two floors, Apple, Pear, Cherry and Strawberry, each with its own communal lounge, dining area, kitchenette and bathroom facilities.

All bedrooms are single occupancy with en-suite facilities. The upper floor is accessed by stairs or a lift.

Other facilities at Etheldred House include a café and a children's play room.

Etheldred House provides:

On all my visits to the home, the staff are nothing but polite. All residents are well cared for and appear happy. Activities are organised in the home and everyone gets involved.

My grandma was at Etheldred House for 2 years and during this time she was loved comforted and well cared for. My grandma was always clean and well presented and all of her choices were always respected. When she was not eating well, the kitchen went above and beyond to give her the food of her choice
such as salmon, jelly and tomato and salt sandwich which has always been her favourite. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for care for a loved one.

Grandma has settled in well at Etheldred House. She is very happy and enjoys all the activities that happen here. She really enjoys the banjo man who they ensure that they get here on a regular basis. Staff are friendly and always seem to be having fun.

Staff are fantastic. My father previously lived here and I felt like the staff went above and beyond to help him. Since then my mother has moved in and she is loving her time her and I feel she is much happier than she was. The carers make her laugh every day.

The home is very clean and tidy. Staff are very friendly, caring and understanding. Nothing is too much trouble for any of them, from the kitchen to the manager's office. My room is very lovely and comfortable to sleep.

Frontline staff, mostly Romanian and Bulgarian, all have good English, work extremely hard and have a natural caring attitude towards residents. I cannot praise them enough. I spend many hours there and see first hand without exception these carers giving comfort and caring words and deeds. Just wish
they were paid better so they could see how appreciated they are by visitors to our relatives.

I cannot express just how thrilled I am that I was able to move my mum here. The improvement in mum since her arrival has been heartwarming to watch and I put that down to the love and dedication of the staff for which I will be extremely grateful. Thank you so much.

Santall has been the General Manager at Etheldred House since November 2008. Santall began her career in management in 2004 as a Residential Care Manager and has been a Home Manager since October 2006.
Santall holds numerous qualifications relating to care including Registered Managers Award.

Job Title: Care Manager Joined: 2008

Enrica became the Care Manager at Etheldred House in November 2008 and is a Registered General Nurse.
Enrica is responsible for the running of the home in the absence of the Manager.
