Home Close can be found in a tranquil setting on the edge of Cambridge yet convenient for the A14 and is served by good public transport links. The property is located in its own spacious landscaped grounds and is bordered by many mature trees, creating a private peaceful environment. As well as the extensive lawns, there are many shrub and flower borders which continually change with the seasons, providing interest to residents and visitors alike. A lovely retreat to enjoy tea in good weather.

The home offers nursing care, and residential care. The bright, welcoming purpose built accommodation is laid out over two floors with eight wings which are named after local villages, Grantchester, Teversham, Horningsea, Barrington, Wandlebury, Madingley, Dry Drayton and Cherry Hinton. A lounge and dining areas as well as kitchen and bathroom facilities are available in each wing. Bedrooms are light and airy bedrooms, well furnished and are decorated to a high standard, however, residents are encouraged to bring items of their own furniture and possessions with them so that their room can become truly their own.

Care staff are trained to the highest standards and chosen not only for their skills, but also for their warmth, friendliness and caring attitude. Staff are available constantly and provide professional care that respects the rights and dignity of the individual.

Residents are regularly assessed to ensure their needs are met. Appointments can be arranged with a visiting optician, dentist, and chiropodist. An in-house hairdressing salon provides all the usual services plus manicures and hand massages. Catering staff provide delicious meals and snacks throughout the day, with special diets being catered for.

Unfortunately, mum's stay was very short but all the staff that we as a family came across were so incredibly kind and caring during a time that was quite distressing. Home Close has a very welcoming feel as soon as you walk through the door and I know that had mum been well enough she would have been happy there.

My mother was a resident for over 12 years. During that time the home has become a very friendly, caring place.
It has a welcoming atmosphere and the staff are friendly and compassionate.
The staff took to Mum very well. She was well looked after and we were kept informed of any health problems as soon as they appeared.
Care was taken to understand my mother's needs as dementia became a problem with her. She was treated with kindness and compassion.
They have a variety of activities and throughout the year arrange trips for the residents.
A place I would recommend to people.

A friendly clean place in a lovely setting.
Staff are approachable if there is a problem.
Can be slow sometimes answering pull cord but I do realise they have a lot of people to attend to who need their help.

Arrived in October 2016. Very happy and I do not want to leave. My social worker says it is not the right place and to have a flat on my own. I do not want this as I consider Home Close as my home now.

My mother in law recently passed away in Home Close after 18 months as a resident. The staff treated her and the family with kindness and compassion throughout her final weeks. All were supportive and suitably offered condolences on our subsequent visits. A member of staff attended the funeral and indeed was invited to deliver a short eulogy on my mother in laws life at Home Close.

Lovely home, my grandmother is happy and settled, the staff are very friendly and eager to help with anything my grandmother wants or needs. I always feel happy visiting and whatever time of the day I arrive the staff are happy to see me and my grandmother is comfortable and contented. When she feels poorly the staff are very attentive and let my family know exactly what they are doing regarding her health problems, Home Close is set in lovely gardens and my grandmother loves sitting out in the sun.

My mother has been a resident at Home Close for some 3 years now. My sisters and I are very happy with the way in which she is looked after, and she is happy to be there. She has a bright, light comfortable room from where she can look out over the grounds or watch the comings and goings of the staff and other residents of the flat. I have observed frequently how kind and patient the carers are, and how they take the trouble to understand the needs and wishes of the individuals in their care; the activity organiser is especially good. I have great confidence in the local management, who are very approachable and responsive. I appreciate the regular meetings for relatives with managers, the contact by email for those unable to attend, and the events where relatives are encouraged to join residents.

I have had experience of 3 relatives in Home Close. All were looked after in a kind and dignified way. I have been very impressed with care assistants, often young and often from other countries who have shown great compassion for the residents. I have also been impressed with the kindness of the nurses who often go the extra mile eg taking my mother in law out for a walk when she is upset. This attitude stems from the compassion of the senior manager at the site.

All round i am very pleased with the care provided. There has only been one or two issues which when raised were dealt with in a quick and satisfactory manor. One thing i would like to see is one or two more things in the way of day time entertainment. Some of the activities are good but i think my nan might need encouragement to join in. The staff are really great and my nan gets along with all of them.

Care at times seems ok at others it is lacking when the person in your care goes to hospital on out patient visits no items are taken with them. Last time my mother went, there wasn't any change of clothes no incontinence pads and as these were required on the day, we had to beg some from the hospital, other than this all is ok. The care given in the home from the staff is good. Food and cleanliness also high.

My mother moved to Home Close in 2013 following an accident in her home. This resulted in her not being able to look after herself, I have nothing but praise for the way the staff at Home Close treated my mother. She was very poorly when she first moved there and through their care bounced back to her old self. She is unable to work but was taken everywhere in her wheelchair that she wished to go. She was treated with dignity and respectful care. The only reason we have moved my mother to another home (still in the same group) is to be nearer to us in Worfold.

From our first contact with the manager, all our enquiries have been dealt with efficiently and with attention to care. The care staff are very good, our mother really responds to them well. Her memory loss makes her anxious and they do everything reduce that. I'm impressed with dignity with which the residents are given, chosen names are used whether is it my father-laws name or Mr H. They take the time to engage and find their personal likes and dislikes and their histories.
The care home itself is clean and comfortable and I would recommend it to my friends for their parents.

My mother spent eight years at Home Close, she knew everyone's names and they all knew hers. They treated her very well. She enjoyed the varied meals, activities, outings and quiz sessions (she was their secret weapon). She loved to sit out in the garden during the good weather, they are always well looked after and colourful. The staff always made time for a chat, before she went into Home Close she was getting quite recluse but after a few months she blossomed.

My mother moved in about three months ago. All the staff have been very kind to my mum and very concerned about making her feel comfortable and cared for. Before her arrival she had spent many months in and out of hospital and part of her condition makes her very anxious. She feels safe at the home and staff do their very best to reassure her. The atmosphere in the home is relaxed and calm and this makes it a very comforting and happy environment.

As a family visiting her we have also been made very welcome at any time. The manager and all the staff are happy to answer any questions about about Mum and have helped us all to feel supported.

Mum particularly enjoys the food and we appreciate the activities that are available for the residents to take part in and opportunities to go out for those who are able.
