My mum recently moved into Home Close and our experience during her first few weeks has been only positive. Every member of staff that I have encountered has been friendly, helpful and considerate. The transition from being in her home to being in a care home could not have been dealt with any better.
Mum is joining in with some of the activities, which I did not expect, she has had her hair done, is enjoying the meals and she has a smile on her face! My brother feels like a massive weight has been removed from our shoulders.

The care given to my sister is excellent. Despite being in bed or a recliner chair al the time she has not suffered from pneumonia, thromboses, or pressure sores. Staff are allways welcoming and happy to chat and help. The home is clean and never smells which can be the case elsewhere.
My sister is
very happy and settled.

Our parents have settled very well at Home Close. They have rooms adjacent to each other and they both feel the benefit of being so nearby to each other. All of the staff (from working at reception to nursing staff and caring staff and cleaning and laundry) have been very professional, welcoming, friendly
and efficient. We are confident that our parents are in safe hands and are being well looked after. We are impressed by the level of care and attention that our parents receive.

Mum was welcomed into the home on 25th October 2024 after one mishap. To date, after the short time mum has been with you, she has been looked after very well. The room is very clean as is mum, in fact, the area she is living in is very clean. The staff are very good. The management is very helpful.

We are so grateful for the support and care given to my great aunt since moving to Home Close in April. She was incredibly frail and sad in the months prior to this time and spent many weeks in hospital unsure she would be able to go home or indeed leave the hospital. My great aunt is 96 and lived alone
most of her adult life being fiercely independent. She has the most amazing memory and enjoys chatting. I cannot believe the change in her since her being at Home Close, she has put on weight and looks fantastic, she is back having her hair done weekly and enjoys chatting to anyone that will chat to her. We cannot sing the praises enough of the manager for all her help and guidance navigating her admission and care plan. Also for the fantastic support and communication of the administrator and all of the lovely ladies and gents that go the extra mile to ensure my great aunt is cared for so well. You are all stars and we appreciate you all you do a sterling job.

My aunt has got a new lease of life since moving into the home. She is finding the staff happy and they are always ready to chat to her and find out if there is any thing she needs. She lived alone for many years so having people interested in her every day is such a wonderful welcome for her. Visiting
her is a pleasure because of the welcome we get when we visit. My daughter is often with me and now because we are both able to visit frequently. Before she came to the home, she was too far for us to see her often.
I am very grateful for the care she has and so I thank all the staff and we always get a smiling welcome from one member of staff in particular the first person we see as she is at her desk at reception.
I would recommend Home Close to anyone who may be looking for a place for a loved one and the manager always take time if we have any questions or concerns.
Thank you all at Home Close.

My father moved into Home Close Care Home in July 2024 and was there for 3 months until his passing in early October.
We visited several care homes prior to this and, for us, Home Close was absolutely our first choice. So many care homes we visited were more interested in looking like a sumptuous
hotel and spending their money on promotional freebies to hand out! At Home Close, it actually felt like a home! It is warm, bright and welcoming and every single staff member is friendly, helpful and invested in the welfare of their residents. They are one big family and teamwork is very much at the core of their ethos.
Although only there a short time, my dad settled in very quickly and we were all made to feel so welcome when we visited him. He was, unfortunately, bed-bound, but there were always staff members popping in and out and making sure he was ok. Everyone was so cheerful and friendly.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.706)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.706) out of 10 for Home Close is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 43 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 43 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.706 for Home Close is calculated as follows: ( (377 Excellents x 5) + (118 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 511 Ratings = 4.706
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Home Close is based on 43 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 43 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
