Having visited many care homes in the area, I found Hunters Down to be extremely friendly and caring. All the staff are very helpful at all times and keep me posted about my dad. He is very happy there too and is well looked after. The building is always clean and fresh.

Very caring staff. As a visitor to my husband, there are no restricting visiting times. Plenty of things going on ie. quizzes, bingo, sing-alongs, etc.

My wife is severely brain damaged and has difficulty communicating and this applies to the staff when dealing with my wife. However, the care and support they all provided is excellent. A first class care home.

Review from Jill K (Daughter of Resident) published on 16 February 2016 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

When Dad first entered the dementia wing, his health improved considerably as the staff encouraged him to eat and drink. I have never been to visit and found him dirty or unshaven. His nails are looked after, as is his hair, skin and personal appearance. He is happy and considers it home. I can visit any time and rarely stick to a routine of visiting. As Dads gag reflex has worsened and his ability to swallow is diminished the staff are always looking for different things to tempt him. Dads friends visit and take him a beer, his dog visits, my puppy visits and all are welcome, however dogs are not allowed in the dining room, perfectly understandable. The staff are always willing to discuss things and make the effort to find out Dad's history so they can engage him.

He is well looked after and feels safe, the staff care.
