Overall Experience
Our mum spent the last couple of weeks of her life at Claremont House and the care and attention she received could have not been better.
The compassion and care show by all the staff to both my mother, my brother and myself far exceeded our hopes.

We would have loved to have kept mum in her home until the end, but the time came when we were not able to provide the care she needed. Claremont did that beautifully and in doing so, they not only made mum as comfortable as she could be, but provided us with much needed peace of mind. They look after not just the resident, but the whole family and we cannot recommend them highly enough.

Overall Experience

Although my cousin was not a resident for a long period, she was treated in a warm, welcoming, and caring manner by every staff member. It made what could have been a very uncomfortable time remarkably peaceful. We can think of no way that the service could have been improved.

Review from Keith B (Son of Resident) published on 5 October 2015 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My Mother was a resident from June 2014 to the end of September 2015.
Initially she came just for temporary respite care but very soon wanted to be a permanent resident.
She had not been used to living in a Community, so we were pleasantly surprised how quickly she adapted to her new surroundings.
It is our belief that the quality of care and the positive atmosphere within the home made her integration so successful. I visited regularly and was very impressed with the wonderful care that she received. I was most impressed with the attitude of all of the staff and found their commitment and positivity very refreshing.

The alternative for my Mother had been to return to a large bungalow and live on her own. We know that being at Claremont extended the good quality of her life and I would have no hesitation in recommending Claremont House to anybody. I firmly believe that this is without doubt the best Care home in the area.

"At Claremont House and Lodge, we focus on person-centred care that supports residents to live as independently as possible in a fun, active environment. With plenty of activities, a real family feel, and our lovely seaside location, it’s a great place to call home."

I previously worked as a housekeeper before Claremont House, but I missed the care sector and the people. The biggest professional challenge I've faced in my career to date has been being able to deal with challenging situations and ensuring I always keep a calm manner. My favourite part of my day is walking through the door, I am greeted by residents who are happy to see me.

What I enjoy most about working at Claremont is building meaningful connections with residents, their families, and the wider team. No two days are the same, and I thrive on the variety and the challenges, especially when it comes to problem-solving. I help make the admissions process as smooth and supportive as possible, understanding that it can be an emotional time for families. I’m also someone who genuinely enjoys paperwork and ensuring everything is in place. With a background running my own PA business and working across education, children and adult services, and local government, I bring a wealth of experience in regulated environments and a confident, people-focused approach to my role.

I’m a qualified joiner with my NVQ Level 3 and experience in construction, property maintenance, and the care industry. For the past seven years, I’ve worked in care, supporting residents with everyday tasks and helping them feel safe and at home. I enjoy varied work and always aim to be a friendly, helpful presence for both residents and their families.

I enjoy being part of the team at Claremont House & Lodge, where both communities work so well together and the home truly feels like a home from home. The most important part of my day is working with residents, providing a high standard of service that respects their individuality and honours their likes and dislikes. I’m currently working towards my Level 3 in Hospitality and Housekeeping, and bring experience from large organisations such as the NHS and private homes. Having worked here for nearly three years, including time in the kitchen department where I progressed to second chef, I’ve gained a strong base of experience to grow within the Housekeeping Team.

From the moment you walk through the door, Claremont has a warm, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere, and there’s never a dull day. I enjoy seeing and interacting with residents every day, creating appetising and nutritious meals that give plenty of choice and the comfort of home-cooked dishes. With over 15 years of experience as a palliative care chef in both hospices and care homes, I bring passion and dedication to every meal I prepare.
