Mum has been at Dussindale since coming out of hospital in March this year. We needed somewhere where she could receive good quality nursing care as we couldn't manage the situation at home. I visited the home and met the manager who was very friendly, open and stated that wound care was one of the
things they had good success with. This immediately made me feel this was the right place for Mum.
She is in a bright and cheerful room which she loves. All the staff are lovely people, nothing is too much trouble. The nursing staff have a great deal of experience and always answer questions or find out information. Our special thanks to the manager who goes out of her way to make sure the residents have everything they need and all their needs are met. In the eight years she has been there she has turned the home into a Good CQC rating and this is evident when you visit the home. We really feel Mum has a much better chance of recovery being under the excellent care at Dussindale Park.

My father was suffering in the hospital as it was very noisy and short-staffed. He was 92 years old and put on palliative care. With the help of one member of staff liaising with the manager, Dad was quickly moved to a lovely sunny room for his last days. The manager and her team were outstanding -
very caring, supportive, friendly and gentle with Dad. Always respectful, and they always consulted me and my brother on our wishes, explaining everything and being very responsive to requests. The best ending for Dad!; dignity, peace and care. Special thanks to the manager and her team.

As a daughter of a resident who lives in Scotland, I have been totally reliant on the team at Dussindale Park Care Home to ensure Mum received the care and attention she needed. The last two years have been remarkably challenging for anyone working or having a relative in the care sector but the team
at Dussindale have not only coped but excelled in what they have achieved. Every department member from the gardener, maintenance, laundry, housekeeping and catering has contributed to the well-being of my mum, who has loved the engagement and conversation she has had over and above the exemplary nursing and care she has received. Over the pandemic, we had FaceTime calls facilitated by the reception/administrator, plus lots of calls and when restrictions were lifted I have been able to visit in person many times and enjoyed sitting in the beautiful gardens with Mum. I am equally grateful for the care and attention I have received from the full team, including the night team. Thank you.

From the moment my mother visited the care home to look around and ascertain her feelings about becoming a full-time resident, it has been a wonderful experience for me and my sister. We step into the reception and are always greeted by wonderful caring staff who create a fabulous ambience throughout
the home. Nothing is ever too much trouble for any of the staff (regardless of what position they hold). Everyone is helpful 100%, when my mother has health concerns they are always actioned so reassuringly to both myself, my sister and mother. We truly feel we are experiencing care of the highest standard at Dussindale Park Care Home.

The staff are warm and friendly, the care is first class. When choosing a home for my mother, I visited several homes and this one was by far the best. I know Mum took time to settle in, but she quickly realised she was safe, cared for and well looked after.

Mum has been a resident since October 2021. It's been very hard for us as she has late-stage dementia but the care and kindness the staff are giving Mum has helped enormously. All the staff genuinely seem to care and if we are worried about Mum they find the time to reassure us. The home is extremely
clean and the food is very good. I would not hesitate in recommending Dussindale Park. Our thanks to all the staff for your care and compassion.

All the staff genuinely cared and were concerned for Dad's welfare. This is a huge reassurance as I live in the next county. Dad has settled really well which is aided by the staff's attitude, friendliness and compassion. He is treated with dignity, respect and his wish for quiet at times is acknowledged
but he is given time to talk when he wants to. Many thanks to all the staff, I really appreciate all you do.

It is hard to nominate individuals for special mention as all members of staff, that I have interacted with, treat my father with care and dignity.
I would not have wanted to place my father in a nursing care home but due to his deteriorating condition, his needs were considered palliative and beyond
our ability to cope.
He is looked after well and, despite the last year of Covid restrictions, making visiting very difficult, the staff keep us informed of his needs and condition.

My comments in this review reflect that the home has been under covid-19 restrictions since March 2019. During this period Dussindale has had a few outbreaks of the virus and sadly lost some residents, as expected morale amongst the residents is reflective of isolation, they have had to endure which
is fairly low. Dussindale does have a high turnover of carers subsequently the level of care does fluctuate, the workload is very demanding and unfortunately one or two of the most experienced and senior carers have left. At the moment the home has a high percentage of young carers; some of whom are indifferent and lack empathy with residents. These could be reasons for workloads or lack of experience. This could be mitigated by having senior carers daily on each floor. The level of care over weekends is noticeably different to that during the week, everything seems to take that much longer to complete, this could be due to staffing levels or poor supervision. The management work extremely hard under difficult conditions to maintain standards, they have been extremely diligent in keeping the home and the residents safe and secure.

My husband is looked after extremely well here and deals with his sometimes odd behaviour well and are very patient with him. Staff always helpful and understanding even in times of stress. Food good, accommodation clean and large enough so the room doesn't feel just like a bedroom.

My mother has been in Dussindale Park Care Home for 6 weeks following a major stroke in October 2020. She has settled in well and has a very nice spacious room on the ground floor. She is being very well looked after by all the nurses and seems happy with the care and attention she is getting. The nurses
are all very kind and helpful and she likes them all. They are pleased with her progress and are encouraging her to eat and drink more orally. It will be good when she can have speech therapy and physiotherapy. Hopefully, this will be possible soon as had to be stopped during the pandemic. I am happy that she is in a nice home where the staff are genuinely interested in helping my mother towards recovery. It is so good that visits are allowed and I hope that soon I will be able to visit my mother every day.

I was welcomed by a carer who put me through the procedure of the lateral covid test. I returned to my car and she told me to go inside for the result when it was ready. She was very friendly and efficient. Another lovely carer told me my mother was ready for me to see her. Mum had even had her hair
trimmed for my visits. I was taken with mum to a lounge and when the 30 minutes was up the carer came in and walked me back to the reception area then looked after mum taking her back to her room. I cannot fault my visit.

Unfortunately last May my mother required 24/7 care, which I couldn’t provide myself, so a place at Dussindale Park was found and since then me and my brother have been able to see her regularly with window visits, which was great as it was confusing for her at times but the staff have been very helpful
and caring towards her. All staff are very welcoming and the care provided has been good. I have been able to see her every week with a few exceptions when positive testing occurred but regular phone calls have been great with staff happy to take the time to take her the phone.

From the first difficult meeting with the manager and my aunt in hospital where she was shown respect and kindness while very distraught at the thought of going into a home. She has been treated with kindness by all members of staff who often put their heads round the door to say hello. They have done
all they can to settle my aunt, who has not always played ball with them. Her room is nice and the food good. This is a very well run care home.
