The Hawthorns

I feel very happy and content here. The carers are all gentle and helpful. We are allowed to watch TV and there's a lot of activities that we can join in. There are also rides in our local bus. Lots of trips. We went to the Cromer Pier show which was enjoyed by all of us. There is usually a weekly entertainer in the lounge. A doctor attends weekly.

Very good.

My husband has been in the nursing home for eight months, I visit every day. The way that he is cared for is the utmost concern for me, I can't praise the staff highly enough for the way that he is treated. The Hawthorns is like a second home to me. I have never seen or heard anything that has given me the slightest concern.

Food is lovely.

A "personal touch" to the care given acknowledged, which is warming to know that my dear grandad is well taken care of. Thank you.

My father has now been in The Hawthorns for 18 months. We, as a family are pleased with the care he has received. Management and staff are helpful and friendly.

We brought 12 young people to volunteer for 1 week to run activities with the residents. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff, given a room to base in, offered drinks whenever we wanted them and were managed excellently by the activities coordinator. The young people were kept entertained and never felt left out or bored. They particularly enjoyed chatting with the residents about their past and learning lots from them. The young people were also offered sweets and snacks regularly. Despite the size of our group The Hawthorns even offered for us to come back an extra day so we could fill our timetable. Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable and enriching experience for both staff and the young people.

I would like to say how I find everything about the home very satisfactory.

I find Hawthorns Care Home is superbly run by very nice staff. I visit every day and its as close as a nice little family of friends.

I find that my mother is well taken care of. I have no complaints about anybody. Food is good. Entertainment good, activities good. My Mum seems quite content.

It's a very nice, friendly home because it is not too big. Everybody knows each other. All the carers, staff and manager are very good.

The carers work very hard. They keep the place lovely and clean, even the washing, ironing done for you. It's lovely to think you don't have to do it yourself. One thing, you don't starve in the home, plenty to eat and drink. It's a nice little home. The staff and carers look after us.

As always greeted with a friendly smile and hello from all the staff. Everything looked spotless and has a nice homely feel. We even took loads of crumpets for the residents to share. These were toasted and brought round at afternoon tea. They didn't mind toasting so many. My aunt enjoys the craft afternoons and entertainment. She seems to have settled in well and always smiles when we visit so we know she is not unhappy there. As le live quite a way away we are happy that she is well cared for.

Comfortable and caring home with good staff who are attentive to residents needs. The team were very supportive to my mother and grandmother (residents) when my gran had to have 24hr care which was very upsetting for us all. The team were very understanding and always made time for us. The home needs a little updating but makes up for this with a nice team.

My father has been a resident at The Hawthorns for 1 year and 3 months. During all of his time here the care he has received has been excellent. The staff and manager obviously care about the holistic wellbeing of the resident, they are always cheerful, keep the family informed of my fathers needs and health, treat and know my father as an individual and adjust care/meal etc. to suit my father wherever possible. The staff and manager also have a wonderful (much needed) sense of humour. I cannot fault my fathers care and he and his family members are always treated with dignity and respect.

Staff and facilities are very good and I can highly recommend it. Meals are very good and there is always an alternative. Staff are very obliging and caring.
