This purpose built, single storey Home opened in 1989 and has built up an enviable reputation in both the local and wider community for its high quality care. It has been sympathetically designed to offer a range of single rooms, a welcoming reception area, large lounges, dining room and a separate Activities Centre, all of which are available for residents and their guests to enjoy. Although rooms are fully furnished, they encourage residents to bring their own items of furniture and personal effects to complement those provided.
Meadow House is situated on the outskirts of the pretty market town of Swaffham, near to a range of shops and amenities. To ensure that residents continue to have an active social life, regular trips are organised in the minibus to the local shops, theatre, etc. If you simply wish for peace and tranquillity, well maintained gardens with raised flower beds surround the Home, allowing you to enjoy a haven from the bustle of the town.
Care staff, who usually do not wear a uniform, are trained to the highest standards and chosen not only for their nursing skills but also for their warmth, friendliness and caring attitude. They are on hand around the clock to provide professional care that respects the rights and dignity of the individual. Of course, a qualified physiotherapist is on hand for specialist help.
Care workers regularly assess each resident so that they can be sure their needs are met and supply specialised equipment if required. An optician, dentist, hairdresser and chiropodist visit by appointment providing all the usual services including manicures and hand massages. Catering staff provides delicious meals and snacks throughout the day, as well as special dishes for those with particular dietary requirements.

I am the brother-in-law of a long-term resident of Meadow House. I try to visit with my wife as much as I can and when I do I am always heart-warmed by the care, the atmosphere and the warmth shown to my sister-in-law. My last visit coincided with the annual summer fete - the effort and time it takes to pull an event like this off is huge! People still give so freely their time when they must be worn out from either running the home, running events or giving care. My wife and in-laws visit weekly, and we all feel that this wonderful place and the staff and residents are an extension of our family.

Now 12 years on, I no longer am consigned to a wheelchair, have lost half my bodyweight, 34 stone to 17 stone, I use a stick and no frame. I have bought a scooter for going to town, I am now nearly complete with a sponsored walk for McMillan nurses. Meadow House is my home and I love it.

I truly can not believe the progress my nephew has made since being at Meadow House. The care is outstanding, you can feel how friendly and happy the home is from the minute you walk through the door. I truly can not believe the progress my nephew has made since being at Meadow House. The care is outstanding, you can feel how friendly and happy the home is from the minute you walk through the door. Everyone is welcoming and the staff always make time to let me know how he is doing. In 2 months he has gone from being in bed all the time to sitting in a chair and never being in his room! He is joining in with things and enjoys joking with the staff. He has even had a bath and agreed to have more which is a miracle! I can not thank them enough for improving his quality of life so much in such a small amount of time.
