Going into a care home has always been my worst nightmare! When my husband of 56 years was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 10 years ago, I single handedly cared for him until January 2019. To pass him into Oak Manor Nursing Home was a huge upsetting time but now I am so happy that he is being cared for so
much better than I ever could and I never, ever thought that possible. Thank you all.

I do not know enough to make any recommendation. I visit a friend at Oak Manor. I appreciate the care and attention my friend receives from the staff. All the staff are very helpful to me as a visitor and they are all very well known and appreciated by my friend. The visits are relaxed and comfortable.
My friend appears safe and well looked after. He smiled today!

My mum was transferred to Oak Manor Care home in October of last year (2017) after the care home she was in was closed down by CQC.
From the first phone call made, to her last days there, the service was first class. Mum was cared for so well as were we her family. We were always kept informed of her
health needs and consulted on all issues surrounding mum's daily care plan.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the home to anyone who has a relative with Dementia - the staff are all trained appropriately and very caring at all times.

My husband has been a resident from late December 2017. My family and I have found the staff very kind, helpful and very friendly. The accommodation is OK but looking a bit tired but has a homely feeling with space for the residents to move around as they wish, very important as a family we feel relaxed
as we feel that my husband is being well cared for and safe.

I have found the care my husband received is very good. He is kept clean, well groomed and looked after. He has been in there for 4 years as I'm unable to care for him at home I find the staff very kind and caring and level of staffing excellent.

If he had to go in a home, I could not wish for better.

My sister was admitted to Oak Manor on the 30th October 2017 and all of the family were surprised at how quickly she settled expecting it to take a few weeks. She is well cared for by very caring staff who have a really good attitude. The first month has been very positive.

Mum has been a resident for over 4 years. We chose this home initially because it was the only one we visited that did not smell.

We have been happy with the care mum has received even through changes in management. Care staff are very caring and respectful of my mum. Although mum cannot participate,

there are a lot of activities available.

My great auntie arrived in late July having become too disruptive at her previous care home, due to her loud shouting 24/7. Oak Manor has been able to deal with that kind of behaviour. Also, she has had various problems from falling and breaking her thigh bone, hospitalised, plus other medical problems.
The staff/nurses have always kept me informed of her condition throughout. The staff appear to be very caring and friendly with my great aunt.

I thought the atmosphere in the care home had improved considerably from my last visit in February. It felt less turbulent, quieter and happier. I can't praise your staff more highly for the respectful and cheerful way they deal with the patients.

I would recommend this care home to everyone. They respect the residents and nothing is too much trouble for anyone.

Beautiful, clean, the food is terrific and everyone is well fed, well taken care of and they get entertained. It is a happy home.

Brilliant staff who couldn't do enough for residents, also seen staff busy and interacting and keeping residents busy and happy. I honestly think Oak Manor is very good and have already recommended this care home to friends whose families are now being looked after. A lovely caring place for a family

My husband is cared for very well by the care staff at the home. His illnesses and disabilities are catered for.
The home is badly decorated. His room is in a bad state of repair. The maintenance service leaves a lot to be desired.
I have had to write letters to get the lavatory repaired.
The blind
in the room is broken and temporarily mended but never replaced so impacting on my husband's privacy.
There are other repairs to the room that are needed but these are never done.
For this, it is a poor service.

Our first visit to see dad was a good experience for my 2 young children and I. Dad was feeding himself, well monitored, clean and in a communal room with appropriate music for the age of the residents and kind, helpful staff. Dad took us for a tour and I shaved him as he had quite a beard but I understand
he had been difficult about being shaved. The kids were given ice-cream and although some residents worried them, the majority were ok. Dad was happy when we left and we enjoyed our visit and didn't feel sad leaving him there even though it wasn't home. Gardens and rooms would benefit attention.

Care in this home has deteriorated significantly. Fabric of building is also in need of repair. Roof in main lounge has been leaking for over 6 weeks. No progress. Have asked for complaints form and told "we don't have any".
Reply from Anna Dragoeva, Home Manager at Oak ManorThank you for taking the time to review Oak Manor Nursing Home, we really appreciate your feedback. At Oak Manor we take great pride in ensuring we deliver high quality care and facilities. We are fully supportive, but unfortunately totally reliant on the weather conditions and availability of our contractors. However, the roof has since been fixed. Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.941)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.941) out of 10 for Oak Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.941 for Oak Manor is calculated as follows: ( (274 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 290 Ratings = 4.941
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oak Manor is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I’ve always wanted to work in care – it is my passion, and I feel extremely fortunate to be the home manager at Oak Manor.

I began my career in care by volunteering at a nursing home, and I loved every second of care home life. As I became a senior carer, I decided I would fulfil my dream of becoming a nurse, studying adult nursing and gaining a first-class degree. As a qualified nurse, I drive the highest standards of person-centred care. Although I love being a nurse, I also love being a manager, with the ability to influence positive change, which I get great satisfaction from.

Getting to know the people we care for, seeing them happy and improving their lives holistically is one of my greatest motivations. Our residents must always be the centre of all we do. When residents choose to make Oak Manor their home, every day will remain just as they like it, with careful note taken of their preferences, from waking times to food choices, hobbies and interests.

We are here for you and your loved ones every step of the way to help, and we will do all we can to put our residents and their families at ease. The most important thing is that they are happy.
