The difference to the home since the new manager and new staff is amazing, the cleanliness and smell to the corridors is amazing. The staff can't do any more for you. I wouldn't have recommended anyone to this home before but now I would 100%. My dad is actually joining in the activities which he hasn't
before! Well done!

Management and staff are very welcoming and friendly, they found the time to talk to you and make you feel at ease. Past experience made it very hard for me to return to Oak Manor Nursing Home but the manager and receptionist were very tentative and understanding. Staff members took the time to find
out more information/knowledge about my relative which made me feel that they will/are receiving the best care possible.

First impression: The manager is very friendly, welcoming and approachable with a resident lead approach. I found the staff to be caring and helpful. When talking to them they said they get great support from management which is a big plus, after all happy staff means happier residents.
I witnessed
good interaction and dementia training being applied by all staff which is lovely to see. The overall environment is relaxed and a positive experience for families and residents alike. I have great confidence in this manager and staff and I would recommend Oak Manor to anyone in need of dementia care.

My brother has been at Oak Manor Nursing Home for a number of years. Since the new management took over, I have never seen him look so good. His laughter has come back, which brings such warmth to me. The updates fortnightly are fantastic to keep me in touch with my brother's health and well-being.
Thank you to everybody who works at Oak Manor; you're doing a brilliant job.

Having not been able to visit my mother for 2 years due to ill health I must say that I was overjoyed with the way the home is now run. The staff are wonderful, so clean and run with such efficiency. Totally made my visit so pleasurable the staff were so kind and treat everyone with such warmth and
respect. I was very impressed with the manager totally in control, very energetic. Seems to me she is the best thing that has happened in the last two years and a credit to Oak Manor Nursing Home.

My sister was moved to your care home around 2017 from one not so suitable. Since she came to you, at Oak Manor Nursing Home, although she will always be unwell, she shows improvement, and I think that the staff who care for her are loving and kind. They seem to really care.

My mother has been cared for by the dedicated staff at Oak Manor for over a year now. I have to say, the carers, nurses and management go above and beyond in their efforts to make sure Mum is well looked after and has a fantastic quality of life. The home is lovely, and Mum enjoys the activities and
events they put on for the residents, and she loves her room.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the very good care given to my husband by the nurses and so many carers. They gave my husband an extra year as he seemed on the way out when he arrived with infected skin problems. He had a very good room facing south which could not have been the same for other residents.

My father's vascular dementia meant that he lacked awareness of his disabilities. He was constantly at risk of inadvertent harm as a result. The care he received at this home was outstanding, the staff enabling him to be as active as possible whilst attempting to minimise risk. They understood him as
an individual and tried to enable him to live as full a life as possible. Despite the high level of disability of the residents, my observation was that the staff always treated the residents with respect and ensured cleanliness even though this was obviously challenging to achieve. I am very glad that my father has been a resident here.

After 3 over long months at another care home, Oak Manor is the third care home my wife has been in. In general, the staff at the previous two homes - influenced by poor management policies - lacked the skills and resources necessary. It is only at Oak Manor I have felt that my wife is safe and properly
cared for. She clearly feels a part of the "family" and is no longer in need of me - although she is still happy to see me.

Going into a care home has always been my worst nightmare! When my husband of 56 years was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 10 years ago, I single handedly cared for him until January 2019. To pass him into Oak Manor Nursing Home was a huge upsetting time but now I am so happy that he is being cared for so
much better than I ever could and I never, ever thought that possible. Thank you all.

I do not know enough to make any recommendation. I visit a friend at Oak Manor. I appreciate the care and attention my friend receives from the staff. All the staff are very helpful to me as a visitor and they are all very well known and appreciated by my friend. The visits are relaxed and comfortable.
My friend appears safe and well looked after. He smiled today!

My mum was transferred to Oak Manor Care home in October of last year (2017) after the care home she was in was closed down by CQC.
From the first phone call made, to her last days there, the service was first class. Mum was cared for so well as were we her family. We were always kept informed of her
health needs and consulted on all issues surrounding mum's daily care plan.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the home to anyone who has a relative with Dementia - the staff are all trained appropriately and very caring at all times.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.914)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.914) out of 10 for Oak Manor Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.914 for Oak Manor Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (288 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 314 Ratings = 4.914
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oak Manor Nursing Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have always wanted to work in care, it is my passion and I feel extremely fortunate to be the home manager at Oak Manor.

I began my career in care by volunteering at a nursing home and I loved every second of care home life. As I became a senior carer, I decided I would fulfil my dream of becoming a nurse, studying adult nursing and gaining a first-class degree. As a qualified nurse, I drive the highest standards of person-centred care. Although I love being a nurse, I also love being a manager, with the ability to influence positive change which I get great satisfaction from.

Getting to know the people we care for, seeing them happy and improving their lives holistically is one of my greatest motivations. Our residents must always be the centre of all we do.

When residents choose to make Oak Manor their home, every day will remain just as they like it, with careful notes taken of their preferences, from waking times to food choices, hobbies and interests.

We are here for you and your loved ones every step of the way to help and will do all we can to put our residents and their families at ease. The most important thing is that they are happy.
