My mum unfortunately had a stroke and needed to be cared for. Oak Manor was recommended for its staff and facilities and the recommendation was completely correct. The staff are so welcoming and the attention to all the residents needs go above and beyond. The rooms are nice and clean, bright and everything
is catered for the residents. The staff are so helpful and really engage with both the residents and their families informing us of changes and improvements to my mum's health and wellbeing. The sudden shock of my mum having to go into care has been very stressful but Oak Manor and its staff have made that process less stressful not having to worry about her care. Thanks can never be enough for the staff.

My husband moved here after his previous Care Home was deemed unsafe. As you might imagine this was a distressing time for us, however, Oak Manor's staff have done everything they could to make this move easier. They are an amazing group of people, always there with a smile and a kind word. In comparison
to his previous residence I feel listened to and cared about. After my previous experience, I felt the need to assure myself, that my husband was safe in this new home. This has been done. My questions have been answered, I have been listened to and reassured when I have been unsure and all their procedures seem robust. The senior staff are reassessing to ensure best outcomes for him and the carers are very proactive in their support of him. I feel extremely confident and happy with his care and am very glad to have him placed there.
Reply from Home Manager, Home Manager at Oak Manor Nursing HomeThank you so much for taking the time to give us such fantastic feedback, Barbara, we're sorry you have had such a difficult time finding suitable care for your husband but so delighted that you feel assured in his care at Oak Manor. We're so happy to have him here as part of our Oak Manor family! Our team will be touched to hear your lovely comments.

My husband unexpectedly has ended up in Oak Manor Nursing Home. Have no fears about Oak Manor. After only 4 days I have been in tears twice through the overwhelming, palpable love, respect and dignity shown to my husband. I swear the whole team give him more love and care than I could. They are the
most incredible team, it's one family - they're like cherries from the same tree. Thank you Team Oak Manor.

Oak Manor has been a haven and blessing for not only my father but my whole family. We have always been welcomed, looked after and informed by the staff and management. The staff at Oak Manor have been so kind and helpful with the last weeks and then the death of my ex-partner. He was in the home for eight years and since the manager came it has been a happy loving place. He received good care but more importantly affection and understanding. They have been very helpful
following his death.

The staff always greet us with a nice cup of tea and keep me up to date about my husband, and I would like to thank them all, as sometimes it's difficult not having
him at home with me. Good food and a happy place.

The staff are very caring and friendly, they all make you very welcome. The residents are happy and contented. The home has had a makeover, is very bright and clean. The staff are always asking the residents if they want anything. I receive a phone call from the home about how my brother is doing and
keep me up to date if he is unwell every week or when required.

My brother resided at Oak Manor Nursing Home from February to July 2023 after having had numerous placements. He was welcomed into Oak Manor as a member of the family and he was shown kindness from staff. When things didn’t run smoothly, strategies were put in place to mitigate the difficulties and
he was happier there than he had been at the other placements.
Thank you for making the last few months of my brother’s life as good as they could possibly have been.

The manager and all the staff at Oak Manor are always very welcoming when I visit my mum. The staff are very professional and experienced, providing excellent care with dignity and respect.
I am given a weekly update on Mum by phone, and in addition, any changes are always reported to me straight

Our recent visit to my sister was on her birthday. The home had gone to great lengths to make this "big" birthday very special for her - a singer in the morning and lunch with her family, a special cake chosen by my sister, with balloons and banners. She is happy here; (all) staff are so kind and supportive,
treating her (and all the residents I have observed) with respect and dignity. I would highly recommend Oak Manor to anyone needing care.

All workers at the home are so friendly and happy. They always speak and wave to the residents and to the visitors as well. Visitors are always asked if they want tea or coffee and how they want it made. Residents are very well looked after and asked if they want to participate in craft work, dancing
or singing. My mum is taken to Church, which she really loves, and is taken good care of when she is outside of the home. My mum is very happy there and loves doing the things they do there which she never did at home. There is nowhere better for her.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.914)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.914) out of 10 for Oak Manor Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.914 for Oak Manor Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (288 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 314 Ratings = 4.914
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oak Manor Nursing Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have always wanted to work in care, it is my passion and I feel extremely fortunate to be the home manager at Oak Manor.

I began my career in care by volunteering at a nursing home and I loved every second of care home life. As I became a senior carer, I decided I would fulfil my dream of becoming a nurse, studying adult nursing and gaining a first-class degree. As a qualified nurse, I drive the highest standards of person-centred care. Although I love being a nurse, I also love being a manager, with the ability to influence positive change which I get great satisfaction from.

Getting to know the people we care for, seeing them happy and improving their lives holistically is one of my greatest motivations. Our residents must always be the centre of all we do.

When residents choose to make Oak Manor their home, every day will remain just as they like it, with careful notes taken of their preferences, from waking times to food choices, hobbies and interests.

We are here for you and your loved ones every step of the way to help and will do all we can to put our residents and their families at ease. The most important thing is that they are happy.
