Barchester Woodside House Care Home is amazing, everything I hoped elderly care could be. Mum has been here three years and the care has been amazing. The staff are super and turnover of staff is very low. Activity staff offer a variety of activities and are a lot of fun.
The manager is responsive
and caring and my mum visits her room often.
Only thing Mum doesn't like is the food.

I took a friend to see Mum recently (the friend has a father at a care home in Dorset) and she said what a lovely atmosphere Barchester Woodside House Care Home has. I put this down to the fact everyone is so friendly, from kitchen staff, laundry ladies, office staff, manager and most importantly, carers
and trained staff.

Barchester Woodside House Care Home, in its entirety, has made my husband and family very welcome with such superb care, dignity and respect. As soon as you enter the care home, everybody is so welcoming, you are greeted with smiles, the atmosphere is so homely and happy, they all give such care and
warmth from the heart. It's a beautiful feeling knowing my husband is so well cared for each and every day. Thank you all at Woodside. I would not hesitate to recommend Woodside to anybody needing such specialist care. They ensure residents in their care get rich and fulfilled lives. I came here for six days respite after an operation. My husband has Alzheimer’s and dementia so he is in another home for two weeks. I go home today.
I have been into lots of care homes in past years as part of my work, and my husband going in while I get some respite.
This care home has opened my
eyes to how good a place can be as the staff, care, feeling of happiness spread around. Activities, food are all absolutely the best.
I am 77 years old and still very active and mobile and hope to be for years yet. Definitely happy to know a place so good as Woodside House is available to people who when older need care.
I have found the residents here have a good life and look after the more vulnerable because they themselves feel secure.
Such a lovely experience to have spent this time here and know all the horror stories you hear about care homes certainly is not true of this place.
I can honestly say the care staff in every role I have had dealings with here have been the best.

Before coming to Barchester Woodside House Care Home, I always thought care homes were not a nice place to be however I couldn't have been more wrong. The care provided to my gran was more than I could have ever hoped for. The entire staff were warm and professional from the first viewing until the

My mum was at Barchester Woodside House Care Home for three years until she died. The care shown for her and our whole family was exemplary, very caring and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend this care home for anyone with additional needs. Thanks to all staff, you're brilliant.

My mother suffered a stroke back in May 2023 and while in hospital was diagnosed with advanced dementia.
Since my mother was transferred to Woodside my family and I would say that my mother’s quality of life has shown improvement.
When I visit I am able to see my mother’s charts and from these, I
can witness firsthand the increase in my mother’s food and fluid intake. This is because shortly after being transferred, Woodside identified and agreed with a local service a need to purée my mother's food and to add thickener to her fluids to allow for this.
I am also impressed with the professionalism of ALL of the staff. All of the main nurses know my wife and I by name and if they need to make us aware of anything will actively seek us out while we are visiting.
I cannot recommend Woodside any higher in all aspects of my mother's care and to go further I would thank Woodside for giving my family and me a little longer with my mother due to the improvement we have seen in the quality of her life.

Having been moved here from hospital until the paperwork for my new care home is completed, I have been very surprised having not, in my 85 years, had to call on such services. Many thanks for making this transfer as good as it can be. I have found the staff very friendly.

My sister was sent from hospital to Woodside House Care Home and I was very impressed with this care home. The staff are very good with the residents and, as far as I can see, make them feel at home and comfortable. I've seen a few care homes in Leicester and Market Harborough, but not a patch on this
one.

During the past month my mother has really settled into the home and it’s a relief to see her so content and comfortable. All of the staff we interact with are approachable, efficient and very caring. Communication could be a problem with situations like ours but the team has gone out of the way to
keep us informed of what is happening. Nursing care is very good and any possible problems are observed and well attended to (for example my mum’s sore lip which needed treatment). One thing we would appreciate, but realise the post covid situation has been an impact, is more church or spiritual activity as we’d been led to understand this was a key element of the care when selecting a home. We accept this may also be dependent on the interaction of the local clergy rather than the home. On the whole extremely happy and impressed.

My mother had therapy at Barchester Woodside House Care Home for six months. It was all quite excellent. They were all extremely loving, there was so much to do, and they helped her become better so she could be discharged. They were completely satisfactory, to us. It's lovely and extremely nice. Everything
was neat, clean, and in order. There was nothing that didn't seem excellent.

My overall stay has been extremely beneficial and helpful in my overall recovery from my operation. After the initial blip, I have had great treatment from all quarters of the care home. Hopefully, I won't need another "hip" operation, but I would definitely be back!

My stepmother of 97 was wheelchair-bound when she became a resident. She was disabled and wheelchair-bound. A very determined character trying to keep her independence but needing help. She gradually accepted this from the attentive carers and settled well. Within 4 weeks her pacemaker failed and she
became bedbound. The care she received in the final weeks was second to none. All the staff from management to nursing staff and carers were cheerful, kind, and sympathetic. The home was bright, clean, tidy and the atmosphere calm and friendly. I would like to express my thanks to the staff and cannot praise them enough.

I was most caringly looked after whilst convalescing following and operation. The caringness and warm friendliness of all the staff were truly appreciated. I returned home after a happy two weeks at Woodside, ready and able to look after myself.

Woodside House is a lovely home and my mum was very well cared for during her two years there. The whole staff team are excellent, very friendly and welcoming to our family. The staff are very caring and professional in their roles and obviously care greatly for their residents, respecting their wishes.
It is an excellent environment, the rooms are spacious and there are activities arranged if they wish to participate. Overall it was the best home we looked at and are so pleased we choose it for our mum.

My name is Sarah and I am proud to be the General Manager here at Woodside House.


I am an experienced nurse and care home manager, having spent many years with both the NHS and Barchester. I love working for Barchester and leading the team at Woodside House in the care and support of residents to provide first-class service that meets their individual needs. We have a truly lovely home and a fantastic team.


My vision is to create a 'home from home' environment, where residents are actively involved in organising events, making decisions, and planning their care.


Our door is always open to visitors who want to experience our family-friendly atmosphere and I am always ready to speak to anyone who is starting to explore their future care needs.

David Jackson

Hello, my name is David Jackson, and I am the deputy manager/clinical lead at Woodside House. As a deputy, my role is to support Sarah in the running of the home and my clinical lead role is to ensure a high standard of care for our family of residents.


I have been in healthcare in the NHS since 1994 and held many diverse roles within healthcare. I have vast experience in different areas with transferable skills which will allow me to implement high standard care at Woodside House. I am fairly new to the Barchester family and started as a night nurse in September 2024.


I love working for Barchester at Woodside house as there is a great team which feels like one big family. This family creates a warm and caring environment to support and care for our residents and their wider family.

My name is Amy and I joined Woodside House in 2011 as a Registered General Nurse and now I am the Head of Unit for our Willow and Sycamore communities.


I am responsible for ensuring that all of my residents receive the highest standards of care and are treated with the level of dignity and respect that I would want for my family to receive. We have a very experienced team and several of the staff have been here for many years and are great friends with the residents.


We love welcoming new residents and helping them to join our little community, each new person brings their own personality to the mix and it is wonderful to see everyone making new friends as they settle in.

My Name is Nono I have been a Nurse since 2001 originally in my home county of Botswana. I moved to the UK in 2005 and started working in a care home in Dereham. I worked as a Nurse caring for older people before becoming deputy manager in 2012. I moved to Woodside House in February 2023 after hearing of the home's excellent reputation. I have completed my end-of-life enhanced training with the NHS team and I have completed my level 5 Diploma in adult care.

My name is Sam and I lead our Activities Team at Woodside House.


I have been at Woodside House since 2004 and I love it here. I am responsible for ensuring that the residents are able to participate in sociable, fun and rewarding activities. My team and I are very passionate about our work and love putting smiles on the residents' faces.


We involve the residents in the planning of our activity calendars and encourage residents to continue with the hobbies that they have enjoyed throughout their lives. We will support every resident to try new things and we love learning from our residents every day.

My name is Kim and I am proud to run the kitchen team here at Woodside House.


I am responsible for providing a top class dining experience and ensuring that the menus reflect the high standards that every resident should enjoy. I am constantly speaking with residents to find out what foods they prefer, the way they like things presented and how I can make every meal a great experience.


Working with the care staff to ensure each resident's unique dietary requirements are met, is just one of the ways that my kitchen team support the health and well-being of our residents. I spend time with each new resident to ensure that my team and I are aware of their preferences and favourites when they first move in to Woodside.

My name is Kelly and I am the Head of Housekeeping here at Woodside House.


My responsibilities include leading our housekeeping team to making sure that the home is spotlessly clean at all times. We take care of all aspects of housekeeping so that our residents can relax and know that everything is taken care of for them

Scott Allman

Job Title: Head Of Maintenance Joined: 2004

Hi, my name is Scott and I am responsible for ensuring that every aspect of Health and Safety has been observed.


I also ensure that everything is working well and Woodside House remains well-maintained and presented 'home-from-home.' I am always ready to help a resident to rearrange their room or put a new picture up on the wall.


Residents are always welcome to join me in pottering in the garden.

Alice

Alice Quantrill

Job Title: admin Assistant Joined: 2008

Alice started working in Woodside House when she left school in 2008. She has carried out a number of roles over the years including kitchen assistant, housekeeping, laundry and since 2023 our Administration Assistant. Alice doesn’t feel that any other job could compare as Woodside is like home. She loves being the first face everyone sees when they arrive and loves welcoming everyone to the home that she is very proud to show off.
