Staff very pleasant and helpful. Found improvement since Mum has been here. Staff always helpful when questions asked. Understand Mum getting attention and care. Think fees are expensive.

Woodside house has come on in leaps and bounds since the new manager was appointed. The activity team has been supported in getting more entertainers, which makes all residents happy. The staff are really kind and caring towards all residents.

My wife was transferred to Barchester Woodside House Care Home from Norfolk and the hospital on the 20th September 2017 for palliative care and died there on 20th December 2017. I could not have wished for a more kind, considerate and caring place for her to end her days. In my experience, staff from
manageress, nursing staff, kitchen staff down to the cleaners were so helpful. The food was of excellent quality and nicely presented.

We are extremely pleased with the care our elderly cousin is receiving. Although she cannot move very much she always seems to be comfortably placed in her bed with things she needs near at hand.
The staff seem to be very gentle and caring.
Our cousin's room is always tidy and pleasantly fragrant.

Overall good. I was only there for 1 week. I had a problem with one member of staff not wanting to help me when I needed it. Looking back this happened 2 or 3 times during my stay. The worst part was when I got home finding that my pressure sock was on upside down causing deep grooves in my leg and
a swollen foot. I think this member of staff had a problem with me.

We moved my mother, aged 92 and suffering from dementia into Woodside House two days ago.
The manager and all her staff have made the process a lot less stressful than I feared.
The warm welcome and immediate attention to mum's needs reassured me that we have made the right decision in choosing Woodside

The staff at Woodside House Care Home are all very caring towards the residents. They all have a calm, unhurried approach and treat each resident as the individual person they are.
On our very first visit, it was very obvious that the residents are very well cared for and small touches such as a string
of pearls of a nicely tied scarf completed the cared for appearance.

Mum seems to be well looked after on the whole. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Small issues have arisen but have been dealt with satisfactorily. Mum enjoys the food and the activities. She has a pleasant room overlooking the gardens. Everywhere is kept clean and well maintained.

The care my parents received at Woodside House for dementia and general nursing needs was of such excellence that I have continued as a volunteer in the home since their deaths, playing the piano and enjoying music with residents each week. As 'part of the furniture' I quietly continue to see management
structures, natural teamwork and genuine compassion which encourage and enable residents and staff to reach out to each other, despite advanced dementia. Life is worth living at Woodside and this is the care I would wish for myself.
Clearly, I can no longer comment on all the questions below (rooms, security, value for money) and so have ticked 'good'. My opinion of the food is strongly influenced by the wonderful tiny cakes offered to residents and visitors - especially the brownies!

My dad is receiving end of life care in Woodside. The kindness and thoughtfulness of the staff is unbelievable - they are looking after all of us - I have been asked by everyone if they can do/get anything for me, and they are so caring of my dad. I thank them all from the bottom of my heart.

Our mum has dementia and she is in the dementia unit where she's looked after well.
She enjoys the food. We know not to worry because she is safe more than being at home. Her recliner chair helps her not to fall. Thanks to the staff for her care you all do an amazing job. Well done to the manager on

My brother has been in the Barchester Woodside House Care Home for 18 months. He is always in pain with multiple fractures in his spine and ribs. He is slow in his movement and speech. He also has a bed sore which is taking a long while to heal. The staff look after him well but everyone is so busy
and he would like to have someone to listen and talk with him and comfort him with his health concerns. He would like to discuss his medications with a doctor but has been unable to see one. Because he is in pain he is not happy. The staff are all very nice and do their best in the time that they have.

A good nursing home. The staff are kind and attentive. The home is clean and seems to be run efficiently. There is enough staff. There is a pleasant atmosphere in the home with a choice for the resident of how much time they spend with others and how much in their room, my wife is happy here.

Due to major upheavals, things at Woodside House have turned around. The care staff are very happy and extremely helpful. The residents seem happy and settled. The introduction of a tea trolley has proven very popular. After a short break of the activities being limited the new staff have lots of exciting
things in store for residents. All the staff at Woodside House communicate to residents. The only improvement I could see is communication to families by using modern technology i.e. Text message and emails.

Mum has been here two years. She has settled well and mostly happy. I feel although the staff work well, there are times when the residents are left longer without any stimulation than I feel is good for them. Mostly, the staff are friendly and helpful. The cleanliness is very good in rooms etc. Some
personal care is not always as good: nail cutting and hair washing could be improved. As no place will ever be 100%, the home does well.

I am an experienced nurse and care home manager, having spent many years with both the NHS and Barchester. I love working for Barchester and leading the team at Woodside House in the care and support of residents to provide first-class service that meets their individual needs. We have a truly lovely home and a fantastic team.


My vision is to create a 'home from home' environment, where residents are actively involved in organising events, making decisions, and planning their care.


Our door is always open to visitors who want to experience our family-friendly atmosphere and I am always ready to speak to anyone who is starting to explore their future care needs.

David Jackson

Hello, my name is David Jackson, and I am the deputy manager/clinical lead at Woodside House. As a deputy, my role is to support Sarah in the running of the home and my clinical lead role is to ensure a high standard of care for our family of residents.


I have been in healthcare in the NHS since 1994 and held many diverse roles within healthcare. I have vast experience in different areas with transferable skills which will allow me to implement high standard care at Woodside House. I am fairly new to the Barchester family and started as a night nurse in September 2024.


I love working for Barchester at Woodside house as there is a great team which feels like one big family. This family creates a warm and caring environment to support and care for our residents and their wider family.

My name is Amy and I joined Woodside House in 2011 as a Registered General Nurse and now I am the Head of Unit for our Willow and Sycamore communities.


I am responsible for ensuring that all of my residents receive the highest standards of care and are treated with the level of dignity and respect that I would want for my family to receive. We have a very experienced team and several of the staff have been here for many years and are great friends with the residents.


We love welcoming new residents and helping them to join our little community, each new person brings their own personality to the mix and it is wonderful to see everyone making new friends as they settle in.

My Name is Nono I have been a Nurse since 2001 originally in my home county of Botswana. I moved to the UK in 2005 and started working in a care home in Dereham. I worked as a Nurse caring for older people before becoming deputy manager in 2012. I moved to Woodside House in February 2023 after hearing of the home's excellent reputation. I have completed my end-of-life enhanced training with the NHS team and I have completed my level 5 Diploma in adult care.

We involve the residents in the planning of our activity calendars and encourage residents to continue with the hobbies that they have enjoyed throughout their lives. We will support every resident to try new things and we love learning from our residents every day.

My name is Kim and I am proud to run the kitchen team here at Woodside House.


I am responsible for providing a top class dining experience and ensuring that the menus reflect the high standards that every resident should enjoy. I am constantly speaking with residents to find out what foods they prefer, the way they like things presented and how I can make every meal a great experience.


Working with the care staff to ensure each resident's unique dietary requirements are met, is just one of the ways that my kitchen team support the health and well-being of our residents. I spend time with each new resident to ensure that my team and I are aware of their preferences and favourites when they first move in to Woodside.

Alice started working in Woodside House when she left school in 2008. She has carried out a number of roles over the years including kitchen assistant, housekeeping, laundry and since 2023 our Administration Assistant. Alice doesn’t feel that any other job could compare as Woodside is like home. She loves being the first face everyone sees when they arrive and loves welcoming everyone to the home that she is very proud to show off.
