Woodside was a god send I couldn't believe my luck when Sarah and her team welcomed Brian ( my husband) in .The last 18 months have been extremely difficult for me with health problems myself and Brian with Dementia . This last year has changed everything Sarah and every single person in the team at
Woodside have time , patience ,love ,caring and compassion.
Believe me that's rare the last care home Brian was in they got rid of him when the first problem occurred.
So I love every minute spent in Woodside it's
like home from home .
Thank you from the bottom of my heart
Anne

From entering the carehome you are greeted with a cheerful, friendly smile. You are made to feel so welcome.. it's such a lovely atmosphere. Like home from home. Everybody are so kind as you walk through. They all stop and ask how you are. The place is clean and fresh each day. The care they give
my husband is exemplary. Even maintenance staff have time for you. They are all such kind, caring lovely people.
Thankyou all for giving my husband such a kind, clean, safe, caring environment to live in.

Fabulous care home, Mum has settled in really well & it's such a relief knowing that she's being well cared for. The Staff are all wonderful & treat Mum with dignity & respect. We visit Mum regularly & all staff are always polite & friendly to us all. The activity team are fantastic
& there's always activities going on, which Mum enjoys. I cannot find fault with the care home & being a care home manager myself I would raise an issue if there were any.

Since my dad's move to Woodside, he has gone from have an existence, to having a life with meaning, hapiness and hope. Before we both moved to Norwich, just over 3 months ago, our lives had been filled with stress, grief and a bleak outlook to our future. We both now feel fully settled in our respective
homes and due to the wonderful staff, he has a life that is not only safe, but enjoyable and interesting. Both his mental and physical needs are prioritised on a daily basis, this is due to wonderful, empathetic, caring staff and a system that ensures things run so smoothly. We have peace of mind and hope and you cannot realise how much it means to us both!!

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone at Woodside for making Christmas so special for Mum! Arranging for the mini-donkeys to visit Mum in her room was amazing and really seemed to bring back her sparkle! It encouraged her to get up again and meant that I was able to join her for Christmas
dinner in the dining room. Thank you so much.

My mother stayed at Woodside Care Home for a short respite in August 2025. As her daughter, I found the experience disappointing and concerning. Staff assessed her as having full mental capacity. Yet, she was later found to be pre-diabetic and showing signs of anxiety and memory loss - clear indicators
of early cognitive decline. After three days of being anxious, she left the facility on her own. I was not informed of her decision or departure, and only learned she was home afterward. It's deeply troubling that a resident would be discharged without notifying her next of kin, who holds full power of attorney. I hope this feedback prompts improvements in communication and safeguarding protocols.
Reply from Feedback Team, The Feedback Team at Barchester Woodside House Care HomeThanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We're sorry you found your Mothers stay at Woodside House Care Home disappointing. Our General Manager took time to understand your Mothers concerns and understood that she found it to soon to be in a home with nursing care. An assessment was completed in line with the Mental Capacity Act, it was found your mother was able to understand, retain, weight up the risk of being at home and communicate her choice. The home made sure your mother was supported during her return home by another family member who was in the country. We checked in with the family member a couple of days later and where pleased to hear she had settled in well and was happy back home. Barchester's Customer feedback team.

Excellant care home. Love the way the staff interact with the residents - it's like one big happy family.
It's wonderful to know that my relative is happy and content. I have 100% trust that the kindness shown by staff is consistent even when visitors are not present.
The activity staff are fantastic.
Lots of variation in activities to suit all levels of care needs and lovely personalities, engaging with the relatives all the time.
It's the best decision we've made as a family to move our relative to Woodside House.

Both my parents were residents of Woodside House. My father passed away at the end of last year & my mother continues to live there. It is a wonderfully caring place with lovely facilities but more importantly caring and invested people with the manager at the hub of these values and behaviours. My
father was restricted to bed and was care for and supported in all his needs and my mother always describes everyone as lovely & is happy!

Woodside is a friendly, caring warm home led by an exceptional manager who encourages her team of carers, admin, activity staff, nursing staff to work together to provide the best possible care for residents.
When my brother first arrived he found it difficult to settle. But the whole team never gave
up on him, trying to find ways to engage him, working out the times of day when he needed more support.
Now he feels supported and enjoys being with his carer, often stopping them on the corridor to tell them he likes them.
He is involved in activities which are new to him. He is much calmer and settled. He loves to walk outside. When the warmer weather arrives he will be able to take more advantage of this.
I could not wish for a better place for my brother to live.

A super care home. I knew from my very first visit that I wanted my husband to be cared for here. Staff are fantastic, from management, admin, nursing staff, carers, in fact, just everyone. I was always greeted by any member of staff that I met on my frequent visits. It's just like one happy family.
The run up to Christmas was a very special time, with loads of activities for all to get involved in. The home looked so pretty too, with numerous Christmas trees and decorations, groups of school children entertaining the residents with their singing. It was wonderful.
The staff were so caring and compassionate when my husband was at end of life, they treated him with love, very attentive, always making sure he was comfortable. They looked after us brilliantly, as a family, during this sad time, nothing we asked for was too much trouble. I will always be grateful for their care and dedication.
My experience at Barchester Woodside House Care Home has been exceptional, they are a credit to the Barchester group.

The admin assistant always offers a warm welcome with a big smile. She is the first port of call as you arrive. She is always there for us and at times I need a big hug. In fact, all of the staff are exceptional, all mixing different roles so that they can cover each other. Always with a 'hello' when
I see them. Unfortunately, my Dad is bedridden and he cannot join in on any activities, due to lack of mobility and Alzheimer's. We visit him every day, just so we're around him and when I know I can't be there, I know he is well looked after. My Mum also had a stay following a half knee op and the staff were exceptional during this time too.
Reply from Sarah Robertson, Manager at Barchester Woodside House Care HomeThank you for such a lovely review, the staff work very hard together as a team so feedback like this is great for them to see. We love caring for Dad, and it was a joy to have Mum here for a short time as well.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.714)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.714) out of 10 for Barchester Woodside House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.714 for Barchester Woodside House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (292 Excellents x 5) + (42 Goods x 4) + (20 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 360 Ratings = 4.714
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Woodside House Care Home is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

My name is Sarah, and I am proud to be the General Manager here at Woodside House.

I am an experienced nurse and care home manager, having spent many years with both the NHS and Barchester. I love working for Barchester and leading the team at Woodside House in the care and support of residents to provide first-class service that meets their individual needs. We have a truly lovely home and a fantastic team.

My vision is to create a 'home from home' environment, where residents are actively involved in organising events, making decisions, and planning their care.

In 2018, I moved to the NHS, where I spent eight years working on Dementia Assessment wards. Recently, I felt it was time to return to where my heart has always been—back to Woodside House.

I hope to bring my skills, knowledge, and experience to support the team, especially newer staff, and to continue providing dedicated, compassionate care to our residents. I aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who call Woodside House their home.

We involve the residents in the planning of our activity calendars and encourage residents to continue with the hobbies that they have enjoyed throughout their lives. We will support every resident to try new things, and we love learning from our residents every day.

My name is Kim and I am proud to run the kitchen team here at Woodside House.

I am responsible for providing a top class dining experience and ensuring that the menus reflect the high standards that every resident should enjoy. I am constantly speaking with residents to find out what foods they prefer, the way they like things presented and how I can make every meal a great experience.

Working with the care staff to ensure each resident's unique dietary requirements are met, is just one of the ways that my kitchen team support the health and well-being of our residents.
