My nan stayed at Barking Hall recently for some respite care. She lives on her own since my Grandad died last year. Barking Hall is just great, they welcomed her with open arms and treated her really well. The food she says was really lovely, home-cooked meals - just what she likes. Her favourite was the cream tea she had for her birthday. The staff have been in touch with her since she came home, just to see how she is doing. Can't fault anything. They all work so hard trying to help everyone. The Manager is first-rate, running everything behind the scenes.

Thank you so much for your lovely review, we consider Nan to be part of our extended family. She is always welcome. It was a pleasure to care for her again and to see her enjoyment with what we arranged to celebrate her birthday. Our doors are always open.

I have always found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. My brother receives care and although he is unable to tell us how he feels, he appears to be happy and well cared for. Visiting is more difficult at the moment and limited understandably the situation is hard on everyone at the moment.

Staff always helpful and considerate and tend to residents sympathetically and with care. Communication to the home is very good and nothing seems too much bother. Generally overall a safe, caring environment for the residents.

The staff at Barking Hall have worked very hard to keep standards of care high within all the Covid restrictions. At times staffing has been stretched to their limits but somehow they have coped. I would like to see staff rewarded when restrictions are lifted in some way. I feel they need to know how valuable they are. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. I know our amazing Home Manager has worked really hard to support all our lovely staff to give the best care to our residents throughout the Covid pandemic. I went to stay at Barking Hall Nursing Home at the end of May. This will be my third respite visit. Since my husband died in the summer of last year I have lived on my own and became rather unwell of late. The stay at Barking Hall resolved my appetite loss, lovely home-cooked traditional food every day. The staff who looked after me were really sweet, I was assisted to have a soak in the bath nearly every day I was there. Such a delight, I can't manage my bath at home. I had my hair done and they decorated my room with balloons for my birthday and I had a cream tea and a lovely birthday cake in the afternoon. Although I enjoy my independence, it is so lovely not to have to worry about anything and have a smiling face waking me up in the morning with a nice cup of tea and breakfast in bed. Barking Hall staff really are lovely and caring, thank you. I will miss you all

After looking at a few nursing homes before Mum moved into Barking Hall, I felt the this was the homely one for her and close to her family. Mum was always treated with kindness, caring, patience and a sense of humour! Entertainment staff, in particular, have been excellent in enabling me to either FaceTime or speak with her on the phone during these difficult times. All the staff worked very hard to keep her happy and comfortable through this difficult time. We knew she was in safe hands and her final days were made a little bit easier by the staff kindness to Mum and also to me and my family. Thank you, everybody, for your outstanding care and compassion and I'd highly recommend Barking Hall for a relative/friend.

My husband was with you for nearly two years until he sadly passed away in February. I cannot praise the staff enough for the care they gave him. They made him smile and laugh while he could and as he always enjoyed his food again this was excellent. Thank you for everything you did for him, please keep me on your mailing list so I can support Barking Hall in any way that I can.

My sister-in-law was a resident for the past 2 years. She was very happy and thought of the staff as her family. She joined in all the activities and really loved the days out the staff organised.
I and my sister were also made very welcome when we visited, and we cannot praise Barking Hall enough for the care and attention they gave her.
It was with deep sadness that my sister-in-law lost her life on 11th June 2020 after a short spell in hospital, she will be sadly missed by everyone who came into contact with her.

Thanks again.

Our mum came to Barking Hall in May 2015 from hospital and the wonderful staff addressed her medical problems and despite her dementia, restored her dignity and quality of life, enabling her to experience 4 years of comfort, companionship and expert nursing care.
As a family visiting regularly, we were always made to feel welcome and we were also kept informed of mum's needs and her situation. She sadly passed away on August 6th aged 93. As she declined, my sister and I were able to spend her last 3 precious days sitting with her and see at first hand the intense, personal and dedicated end of life care, which was superb.
As her daughters, we were looked after at such a sad and difficult time with kindness and empathy. Throughout mum's residency, each and every member of staff has shown her great respect and genuine affection.

She was a valued part of the Barking Hall family, for which we will always be truly grateful.

I've been visiting Barking Hall for the last 6 months with my sister. All we see are friendly faces working and caring for the residents. The activities and entertainment days out are excellent. Both I and my sister wish we had come to Barking Hall with our dear dad, we chose one closer to home but the journey would have been worth it. We also noticed how all the staff have such good teamwork, they all muck in together.

Today I visited my aunt. Since coming into Barking Hall, she has gained self-confidence and become mobile, thanks to the efforts of a great home. I have to say staff are extremely polite, I am greeted by all.
The home manager has an open door policy and is approachable, which is excellent.
The food served is of a high standard.

We are always offered refreshments.

My mother stayed in Barking Hall 6-18 months and the family were extremely pleased with the quality of the care, kindness and compassion shown to her and ourselves.

The Hall was a cosy, welcoming place to visit and always smelt fresh and clean. We looked at several nursing homes before Mum moved into Barking Hall and this one felt the most homely. I would thoroughly recommend it for a relative/friend.

My mother was not treated on the whole with dignity. Staff had no knowledge or training of my mother's needs, which on occasion left her in distress. This is a home that requires a major overhaul on all practices. Despite numerous requests on how my mother liked her food, most of the time it was inedible.

My father was admitted to Barking Hall several weeks before his passing. From the time of admission he was treated with care, dignity and respect by all of the care providers and management. I was able to visit at any time and stay as long as I wished. I was notified of any changes to his condition by the staff and offered any assistance I required. I couldn't fault any aspect of the care and facilities at Barking Hall and would have no hesitation recommending this establishment. I am very grateful that my father's last weeks were spent here as was he.
