We are so pleased that our friends recommended Grove Court. Our mother was understandably concerned about the move from her own flat to home but she very quickly found her feet. She found having like-minded people around stimulating as she had increasingly been on her own all day. She enjoys her garden
room and the ability to take walks on the grounds secure in the knowledge that, if she falls, she can call for help using the home key fob. The Grove Court team are wonderful. The gardens are an ever-changing delight, the catering wonderful and thoughtful, events and tours are frequent and fun and the medical team is caring and attentive. I cannot imagine a better place for her to be.
Reply from Kelly Lockwood, General Manager at Grove CourtThank you so much for the fabulous review, you have reflected Grove Court perfectly. Our amazing staff and stunning grounds sure are our USP. It is an absolute pleasure having your mother living with us and we can't wait for her input into our Norway-themed month.
Thank you for taking the time to complete the review.

My mum lived at Grove Court for the last three years of her life. We wanted a nursing home where Mum would be happy and receive the best level of nursing care. Grove Court delivered on both fronts. Mum settled in very quickly, made lots of friends and was extremely happy. Nothing was too much trouble
and every member of staff was professional, helpful and very caring. I could see that Mum was in safe hands and was given the highest standards of care. The home has a very welcoming feel and the facilities and social activities, ranging from one-to-one sessions right up to outings, are amazing.
Even during the pandemic when we could not visit, we had regular e-mail updates. The high standard of care was maintained and the staff never tired of my daily phone calls to see how Mum was doing. The social events team arranged for us to see Mum on Skype calls twice a week which was fantastic.
I have no hesitation in recommending Grove Court as an outstanding home.
Reply from Kelly Lockwood, General Manager at Grove CourtThank you so much for your review. We are blessed with amazing staff who genuinely care and thrive on delivering the best care.
It was a pleasure to care for your mother in the final years of her life.
Thank you once again.

My stay came up to my expectations of a week's holiday. I was able to see my daughter, son-in-law and grandson. Parties almost daily. Followed my daughter's programme so did not need to partake in activities, at home I do. I met other friends from Norfolk. A happy friendly place. I agree that anyone
sits anywhere for meals, but in my case, I would have liked a member of staff to find a place for me. Myself, staff and visitors could not turn on TV or off, it was not a case of batteries. The TV should be checked before a new person comes into a room. There was a blip one morning in my routine - I received an apology. The room was not cleaned every day.

My mother stayed at Grove Court for a week. This enabled me to visit my family and see my new grandchild. My mother was apprehensive as it was to be her first time staying in a care home.
Her room and surroundings were clean, bright and comfortable. The support and care she received from the staff
was warm and caring which brought out Mum's personality.
Mum was pleased to return to her own bed after her week's stay but the most important thing to mention is Mum will happily stay again at Grove Court when the need arises. The week's stay has now removed the stress and anxiety that comes alongside the need for support for our elderly loved ones when we are unable to be there. Thank you to all at Grove Court.

A dear friend of mine initially went to Grove Court last year for respite care which was then extended and she ended up staying until she passed away last month aged nearly 94. The care she received at all times during her stay was superb and the staff went above and beyond to make her feel at home
and also to support her in her final hours. The location and grounds are beautiful, the food and menu choices excellent and everywhere is kept spotlessly clean. A variety of activities were always on offer and my friend particularly enjoyed an outing to Felixstowe and a trip around Woodbridge! I always received a warm welcome when visiting and communication was always excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Grove Court to anyone looking for a caring, supportive home from home.
Reply from Kelly Lockwood, Administrator at Grove CourtThank you for your kind review. It means so much for our staff to get the recognition they deserve.

My father initially came to Grove Court Care Home for two weeks of respite following the sad death of his wife. Although initially reticent about using a care home, after four days, he made the decision to stay in the home permanently. He quickly found that the excellent staff, facilities and care made
him comfortable and welcome. He was also pleased to have a new social life, with staff providing social activities which he could join in with other residents, ensuring that he didn't have to spend his final year alone.
In short, Grove Court made every effort to make my father's stay pleasurable, even during Covid lockdown, with nothing ever being too much trouble to the care home and its staff.

My father received excellent care throughout his time as a resident of Grove Court. The staff were at all times caring, attentive and professional and always went the extra mile to help him. They maintained these standards throughout the pandemic and rose admirably to the challenges it presented. They
did all they could to make Grove Court a home from home for my father, including by encouraging him to participate in thoughtful and well-planned social activities and events such as the recent, excellent Jubilee party. All in all my family and I are very glad that my father was able to move to Grove Court once he could no longer remain in his own home.

I chose Grove Court for my mother, aged 90, when she decided in May that she was ready for a care home as I was aware of its excellent reputation - only the best is good enough for my precious mother. She has settled, made friends, joins in and just last week told me she now sees it as home. The home
is kept to a very high standard and is a pleasure to visit. The staff throughout are caring, respectful, kind and attentive to needs. I cannot speak highly enough of everyone who makes this a true home from home. The gardens and grounds are also outstanding.

I don't think it would be possible to give this care home a better review. The place has a really good feel from the moment you walk through the front door. Staff are always helpful and welcoming. They make a special effort to attend to the residents and their relatives' individual needs with particular
attention to detail. They have made every possible effort to keep our family connected during the pandemic with regular Zoom meetings each week requiring a member of staff to assist my mother with the technology - an absolute 'godsend'.

Dad has been a resident of Grove Court for more than a year now, having reached the point where he could no longer safely live alone after a number of years of carers going into his own house. It was a difficult decision all round, but the right one, and we count ourselves extremely fortunate that he
was able to find a room in such a superb facility. The whole team have been absolutely excellent from the very first day and especially so during the current pandemic. I can't praise them highly enough for their friendly, professional, caring approach. Thank you, everyone at Grove Court.

My mother went into Grove Court three years ago aged 95. She is now very frail and on end of life care. The home is well managed, and communication between them and me has been good. The care has been very thorough, and with great respect shown to the resident’s individual needs and wishes. Since my
mother has been very frail, I’ve seen staff being loving to her, which is a comfort to both of us. They have also been sensitive to me.

My mum has been resident at Grove Court since September 2019, having managed to live alone with some limited care until the age of 97. After a serious illness and two major operations, Mum needed to move to a care home near our family home. We knew Grove Court well already as my mother-in-Law had lived
there happily for the last 2 1/2 years of her life. From the moment that the manager met my mum for an assessment in the hospital, the care shown for my mum at every stage has been amazing. Mum has regained weight, eats well and feels very comfortable at Grove Court. She and we think very, very highly of the manager and her entire team and the provision for residents from medical supervision, through food, cleaning, hygiene, events and entertainment is of the highest order. At all levels, the Grove Court team has handled the huge challenges presented the pandemic extraordinarily well. I fully and wholeheartedly recommend Grove Court.

My mother has been in Grove Court for a number of years and has always said that moving in, from living on her own, was the best decision she has made in her life. She is looked after so well by all the friendly professional staff. The exceptional level of care has been amplified through this awful
Coronavirus pandemic which Grove Court has handled magnificently. I cannot praise all the staff highly enough.

I cannot speak too highly of the considerate, kind and professional attention that my mother has enjoyed during her time at Grove Court. All of the team from the general manager to all of the nursing, catering, cleaning and facilities staff have demonstrated kindness and courtesy and shown respect for
my mother's dignity as well as her medical and personal needs. The facilities, grounds, rooms, lounges and dining areas are impeccable and of 5-star hotel standard and the food is so good that we have dined here ourselves several times.
Mum has been able to personalise her room with her own furniture, pictures and television.
The staff are always considerate, cheerful and bright and have time to care as well as to chat and engage with mum. Hygiene and cleanliness are faultless. The nursing team always have time to discuss mum's medical care regime with the family and are more than happy to do so.
When specialist care or equipment has been required, it has appeared quickly and without fuss. The location is ideal, with lovely views and lots of interest in the grounds and gardens. I give Grove Court the highest possible recommendation.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.949)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.949) out of 10 for Grove Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 34 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.949 for Grove Court is calculated as follows: ( (377 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 395 Ratings = 4.949
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Grove Court is based on 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2, which has been reached with 34 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
