I cannot speak highly enough of Stowlangtoft Hall and the exceptional care they provided for my mother during her final months. From the moment she arrived, the staff treated her with genuine warmth, dignity, and compassion. The building and peaceful surroundings really add to the welcoming environment,
making it feel less like a care facility and more like a home.
The level of care was outstanding. The team were attentive, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure Mum was comfortable and well looked after. They made her feel valued as a person, not just a patient. The chef cooked her special meals, as she could only eat soft food, and he popped in often to see if she'd liked it.
As a daughter, I felt completely supported. The staff communicated openly with me and made me feel welcome when I visited.
I would recommend Stowlangtoft Hall to any family looking for compassionate, high-quality care. They made a profound difference to us that I will always be grateful for.

My father was a resident at the Stowlangtoft Hall from July to August for end of life care, during the time we received nothing but excellent care and compassion from all at the Hall. My father received excellent care throughout a very difficult time and as a family we also could not ask for more.
The time every member of staff gave us and extended family who visited was very much appreciated and made those last few weeks easier knowing the care being received was exceptional. Thank you to all concerned.
Reply from Charlie Diamond, Marketing and Communications Lead at Stowlangtoft HallWe sincerely appreciate you taking the time to share this. It means a great deal to know your father received such attentive care and that your family felt supported throughout his time with us.

My dad spent the last year of his life at Stowlangtoft Hall and I could not have wished for a better place. He was looked after so well by the kind and caring staff who catered for his changing needs during the time he was there. We were kept informed and looked after ourselves when we visited and always
made to feel welcome. It is a great comfort to us that we know he was happy and well cared for at the end of his life.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My cousin was in Stowlangtoft from March until November. She wasn't the easiest person, but her care was exemplary throughout. She was unable to walk and mainly bedridden, but she was kept immaculately clean and warm, and latterly had to be turned frequently so there were no bed sores. The food she
had was of excellent quality, very varied, and her dietary requirements were constantly monitored. The nurses and carers really looked after her, had time for a chat, her laundry was lovingly washed and ironed. The cheerful greeting one had from everyone was amazing - and this included the people doing maintenance jobs. The managers always had time to discuss things and reassure me if I had any concerns, and always agreed to any suggestions. It really is a wonderful place, with lovely bright rooms and stunning views. I am just so grateful that she had such a high standard of care throughout her time in Stowlangtoft Hall.

My mother-in-law had respite care at Stowlangtoft Hall whilst we were on holiday. Being very independent (as much as she can be at 95) she approached her stay with trepidation.
She needn't have worried, she had a marvellous time. The staff were all very attentive and caring, always taking time to chat
with her. She was full of praise for the food which was plentiful with plenty & choices. Although her room was small, it was very comfortable, with plenty of storage, a glorious view over the countryside and with a very generous en-suite shower room. She thoroughly enjoyed her stay.

My grandmother was cared for at Stowlangtoft Hall for a couple of months at the end of her life. The care and compassion she was shown throughout her stay was hugely appreciated. It was a difficult time for us as a family as well, and we always felt supported and cared for, particularly in my grandmother's
final days. It goes without saying that the setting is stunning with beautiful grounds and a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. But what sets Stowlangtoft Hall apart is the incredible staff. Everyone from the carers to nurses, cleaning staff, management team, activities ladies and catering staff, all go above and beyond. It's clear that the team really care about what they do. The carers and nurses do an incredible job and always treated my grandmother with kindness and respect, which was so appreciated. She was even given a lovely birthday with cake, candles and birthday present the week before she passed away. I will always be grateful to everyone at SH for their outstanding care.
Reply from Charlie Diamond, Marketing and Communications Lead at Stowlangtoft HallThank you so much for your kind and heartfelt words. It means a great deal to know that our team's care and compassion provided comfort to your grandmother and your family during such a difficult time. We're especially touched that her birthday was a special moment for her and those around her. Your appreciation for every member of our team is truly humbling, and we're honoured to have been part of her journey.

My mother's standard of care was more than excellent , with highly skilled and very caring, committed staff at all levels providing personalised care , helping her to feel valued, respected and cared for in her end of life care . Excellent food was always provided , plus extra special touches of a
beautiful gift and a birthday cake in the last week of her life. As visitors our family we were always made welcome with friendly smiles and an cuppa. All staff knew the updated situation as my mother's health declined . We always felt confident that there was excellent communication between staff and with us visiting . The building and decor were also of the highest standards of quality and cleanliness; spacious so that all residents were afforded quiet and privacy . A full programme of seemingly excellent activities were offered although Mum was too ill to take part . In summary , superb care for my mother as a resident and superb care for our family members visiting her .

The home itself is in a beautiful setting and feels peaceful and calm. Staff are pleasant and welcoming to visitors. My Nan spent her last few weeks here and although it was difficult to see her declining physically and mentally she had dignity thanks to the kind and respectful care provided here. Her

All the staff are very friendly and always speak to you. They are extremely helpful and always greet you with a smile. They go out of their way to help residents.
My wife has been a resident for nearly 5 weeks after spending five weeks in hospital and the calm and relaxed atmosphere has aided her
recovery.
Hospital food was far from appetising but the food at Stowlangtoft Hall has been excellent and has helped my wife recover her appetite. I have also had lunch at the Nursing Home and can vouch for the top quality of the meals.

My mother's cousin arrived at the home in December 2021. She had suffered a severe stroke a few months beforehand. We, as her family, were all in agreement, after reading the wonderful reviews about Stowlangtoft Nursing Home, that this would be the perfect home for her, with regard to distance for visiting
and the care needed. Every single member of staff welcomed us all and gave their time and advice on how we could deal with any problems arising from her stay there. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. The room she stayed in was bright and airy, and while she could eat, she enjoyed the meals and was very grateful for the personal care she received too. We would all recommend this home for the wonderful setting, the caring environment, and the knowledge that she was always in safe hands until her death.

Every member of staff gave their time and compassion in looking after my father in the short time he was a resident before he passed away. I could not have wished for a better end to his days, and we were treated with the utmost care and attention. For example, Dad was provided with a replacement (longer
length) bed, changed rooms as quickly as possible during very hot weather, and treated with patience, respect, humour and perseverance in winning his trust. He was listened to and maintained his dignity throughout, and enabled to make his final decisions with integrity and timeliness. We were all supported in our shock and grief at the end. These are all things that go beyond the 'care' that you can expect and pay for and in the beautiful and peaceful surroundings. The home manager, deputy manager and all of the team felt like part of our family in looking after Dad.

My late Mother was a resident of the home (Stowlangtoft Hall) for a fraction over 12 months. During this time the staff actively encouraged her to participate in the daily activity sessions and attend the dining hall for her lunchtime meals. When the weather is suitable residents are encouraged to sit
outside in the fresh air and sunshine as part of their well-being. We found the staff approachable, supportive and happy to try their best to accommodate the needs of the resident. Overall this home is run in a very professional manner and the standard of cleanliness cannot be faulted in any way. We would further like to thank all the staff at the home for their support and kindness, together with the empathy shown to the family.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.841)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.841) out of 10 for Stowlangtoft Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.941 for Stowlangtoft Hall is calculated as follows: ( (174 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 185 Ratings = 4.941
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Stowlangtoft Hall is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
