Over all time Stowlangtoft Hall has 93 reviews.
My mother (96) has been resident for twelve months. She receives very good care from a kind and crucially, fairly unchanging team. On odd occasions when a problem has arisen, it is well and professionally dealt with.
The activities are good; it is very hard to please all of the people all of the time, but they offer many diversions and make it attractive for families to visit.
The building itself is very grand, and there is a wonderful sense of space and a civilised atmosphere.
Thank you very much for taking the time to review the service at Stowlangtoft Hall. We are delighted your experience has been so good.
Her room was lovely with beautiful views over the parkland and was big enough for our whole family to spend quality time with mum. We enjoyed seeing the local primary school children singing Christmas carols to the residents, one of which was her grandson. The home always felt so welcoming and family orientated. We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone enrolled in mums care. It truly deserves its outstanding rating.
Thank you for taking the time to give us your lovely feedback. We are delighted that our staff made such a difference to you and your mother. We are so pleased you feel the home was 'outstanding' for you - thank you.
My mother moved to Stowlangtoft Hall recently and has settled very well. The friendly and professional staff made her feel at home straight away. The care that she has received since moving in has been exceptional and has helped her to feel well and more comfortable at home. I very much enjoy my visits to Stowlangtoft Hall knowing my mother is safe and well cared for. The daily social activities are superb and means that my mother is entertained and stimulated during the day. Stowlangtoft Hall is a wonderful home in a beautiful environment which is a pleasure to be able to spend quality time with Mum.
We are so pleased that your mother has had such a positive start to her time at Stowlangtoft Hall and that the activities have been benefitting her so much. Thank you.
My mother in law has settled in very quickly. The staff are always very friendly, welcoming and supportive every time I visit. I can relax each time I visit and can spend quality time with my mother in law in a beautiful environment.
The daily social interaction has been very important for her and has enriched her life's experience. She is enjoying life.
To think of improvements is extremely difficult as we know that she is in good, safe hands and we do not have to worry in any way about her when we are at home.
The food rating I would put as unknown but as I have to give a rating this has to be based on her comments to me. She certainly looks well fed.
Perhaps more trips out?
Occasional evening meal in the dining hall - a social event?
Residents' use of computers?
Tea dancing?
Thank you very much for your helpful review, which is much appreciated and gives us some additional things to think about!
Very kind carers and nurses.
I cannot recommend Stowlangtoft Hall enough. They have been extremely flexible and accommodating to my Mum, who came for respite care and has decided to stay permanently!
My father in law recently moved from Yorkshire down to Stowlangtoft Hall. They made him instantly welcome and he has settled in happily. the building is wonderful, the care is excellent and I'm very happy we chose Stowlangtoft.
We found Stowlangtoft Hall to be a kind environment to place my mother for two weeks respite care. She felt it was like a hotel.
The big old mansion has been well adapted to accommodate almost fifty users. Almost all rooms have a wash basin and a toilet but no shower or bath - of which there is one each on every floor. Big, airy and bright rooms (library, craft room, dining room) can be used by anyone. The parkland, terrace and conservatory provide more facilities. The carers/nurses are very friendly, helpful and patient, often an essential requirement! There are also activities organised for each afternoon. Perhaps some additional staff on the floor with permanent and highly disabled residents would be beneficial. On the whole, this is a high-quality nursing home.
The home is beautifully maintained property retaining the character of the country mansion with entrance hall, library etc adapted to the needs of a nursing home in a very sympathetic manner.
I found the staff, without exception, very friendly and helpful during my fortnight respite care, always with a smile and a laugh.
I would like to express my thanks to all for an enjoyable time spent at the Hall.
My sister-in-law was at Stowlangtoft Hall for five years. She loved the surroundings and always said how lovely the staff were. Although suffering from progressive dementia her every need were catered for. She was given dignity and freedom to be herself and do as she wished. The staff and management were amazing in all they did for her. She insisted on wearing the same clothes. The staff solved this problem by removing the items at night, laundering and returning them to her room as if they had been there all the time to avoid upset. She was treated as one of the family and it really was her home in every sense. It was also such a relief when she needed nursing she could stay in her room and her familiar surroundings; so important to dementia sufferers. I cannot express how much of a reassurance it was to see the care and dedication all the staff at Stowlangtoft gave my sister-in-law. There is no doubt their care prolonged making her last years as happy as possible.
My mother has been at Stowlangtoft since August and during that time she has been very well looked after. I visit her on a regular basis and have found all members of staff to be very helpful, polite and friendly and clearly have the wellbeing of the residents as their chief concern. The office and nursing staff are always ready to help to ensure that all matters concerning my mother's residence at the home runs smoothly, whether it be doctor's of hospital visits as well as helping with any application for financial assistance from social services. Her room is well appointed with both washbasin and toilet included as well as having a pleasant outlook over a pleasant courtyard as well as a view over the grounds when she goes into the passage on the other side. She enjoys very good meals in a 'grand' dining room and is able to receive visitors in the day rooms or the study if entertaining them for a meal. For myself, it is in a very convenient location, but I doubt that I would find any better if I were to look further afield.
The kindness and friendliness of the staff was the highlight of the drive home, which I believe speaks volumes.
My mother has lived at Stowlangtoft Hall for the last four and a half years and died there a week ago. She was always happy there, firstly because the staff were unfailingly kind and patient with her. She was comfortable and enjoyed the magnificent setting of trees and garden, and she loved the surrounding countryside.
She died at Stowlangtoft Hall and was cared for in the last week of her life with a sensitivity and an affection that I will always remember. I realised, as I should have know all along, that this particular care home is extraordinary for the way in which the residents are treated as individuals and that, even though my mother at 95 years of age had no short-term memory and found conversation quite difficult, that she was regarded as a friend and as a vital member of an extended family.
I am hugely grateful to all the staff at Stowlangtoft Hall who looked after my mother and who were the last new friends that she made in the course of her long life.
Following my mother's stroke at the age of 96, we were advised that she should receive 24 hour nursing care. We found Stowlangtoft Hall Nursing Home and asked the Manager to discuss arrangements with my mother in hospital. Although mother is a very independent person, she saw the good sense in living in an excellently managed environment where she would receive 24 hour nursing care. She is now very happy with her large, bright and airy room and our minds are at rest knowing that she is well cared for. The staff are always cheerful, helpful and obliging. We find the Hall most agreeable.
The management went the second mile to provide a one to one-night nurse and soon moved him to a lovely room. The care and adaptability of the staff were outstanding especially the trained nurses. Even the kitchen staff were willing to provide whatever food he fancied. The family was also offered meals. Six staff struggled to open a special bottle of love for him!
He died at peace there.
My sisters and I visited regularly and the staff were equally kind and caring to us. The home itself is beautiful with several large and beautifully decorated rooms and the grounds are stunning.
As a frequent visitor to Stowlangtoft Hall I have much praise for this wonderful nursing home. The staff are very friendly and attentive, offering excellent round-the-clock care. The activities co--ordinators always ensure a full-time taste of various events, activities and outings so there is something for everyone to get involved with. I have found the manager extremely helpful and always willing to offer a quick response to any query or problem arising. The hall itself is very welcoming and of a high standard. I would thoroughly recommend Stowlangtoft Hall.
My husband was here for the last month of his life after suffering a stroke. He had wonderful care from all the staff who looked after him and myself very well. The house is really beautiful, exterior and interior, set back in its own grounds and the food was very good. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I'd be happy to stay here myself!

Meet Natalie - Our Deputy Manager
Natalie works closely with the Home Manager to oversee daily life, making sure residents receive the right level of care and support at every stage of their stay.
A large part of the role involves working alongside the care team, keeping standards consistent and stepping in to lead when needed. Building strong relationships with residents and their families is just as important, whether that's through regular updates, answering questions or being available when something needs addressing quickly.
Natalie also plays a key role in show rounds, helping prospective families understand what life at the home looks like and how the team supports residents day to day. Taking the time to talk through any concerns helps families feel more confident about their decision.
With a hands-on approach and a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents, Natalie is a familiar and reassuring presence around the home.

Meet Anthea - our Home Administrator
Anthea is often the first point of contact at Stowlangtoft Hall, welcoming enquiries from families and helping to answer the initial questions that come with looking into care for a loved one.
Show rounds are a key part of the role, giving prospective residents and their families the chance to see the home, meet the team and get a feel for daily life before making a decision. Taking the time to listen to what matters most to each family helps make that first visit feel relaxed rather than overwhelming.
A warm welcome and a friendly face go a long way, and Anthea is always happy to show people around, talk through next steps or simply have a chat.
