He was empowered and enabled to increase his independence to the point where he was able to care for himself and therefore to be in a position to be able to return home. The staff listened to and respected my father's home routine which definitely facilitated his rehabilitation and discharge. The personalised care was very evident. The food was excellent! Although my father did not want to particularly engage with the activities on offer, I was very aware that the activities coordinators were available 7 days a week for the residents delivering a diverse range of activities.
Well done and thank you all.
Lovely setting, lovely people who work there.
We didn't worry about our mother we knew she was in safe hands.
We could not have asked for anything more or anything to be different for the care that my Grandmother received whilst at Stowlangtoft Nursing Home. The staff were very attentive to both her needs and ours. Nothing but respect for them in what can be a very difficult and emotional job to be doing in often very unsociable hours. The staff were always very willing to accommodate any special requirements of both my Grandmother and family members visiting.
Our Cousin was in need of a Residential/Nursing Home she lived in Eastbourne in her own home, but at the age of 92 began to become very ill. We made a decision in 2014 to encourage her to move nearer to where we lived.
We came upon Stowlangtoft Hall in this journey and were immediately impressed with the building and set up of a Nursing Home that looked at the person as a whole and allowed them to be in charge of their own minds, within the bounds of what they were capable of.
The whole ethos of the Home was exactly what she needed, she had a beautiful room that looked out over acres of beautiful rolling countryside, she loved the skies of Suffolk and the beautiful sunsets, there were plenty of activities she could have gone to but she chose to stay in her room. It was hugely brave of a 92yearold who had lived her life for most of it in a different County to take this step but she took it bravely.
The last 2 years plus were made easier for our Cousin at Stowlangtoft Hall.
a) The family ownership and hands-on presence of family members on a day to day basis.
b) The high number of long-serving nurses and carers.
c) The very spacious, quiet accommodation and peaceful surroundings.
d) The warm, friendly atmosphere.
All these factors remained constant in the very nearly 4 years that my mother lived at Stowlangtoft Hall. The overall standard of care that my mother received was high - I sensed that all those involved, really did care about her and did their best to make her happy and comfortable. There was never a day that I worried about my mother's safety and I took great comfort from this.
I needed to find a place for my 96 year old mother to have short-term respite care after she was discharged from hospital, and we had no advance notice of this! We contacted Stowlangcroft due to its location, and they arranged for a place on the same day, with their representative visiting to do an assessment within a few hours of our enquiry. This was marvellous service, and a great relief that they were able to react so quickly. My mother’s stay provided a super respite environment, and meant she could return home with confidence after her 3 week stay.
My mother spent her last months in Stowlangtoft Hall and was looked after caringly, skillfully, respectfully and with great dignity. The staff were wonderfully attentive, to both my mother and ourselves when we came to visit. The building and grounds are extremely impressive and imposing, in a beautiful, quiet, peaceful and relaxing country setting. Visitors are always made welcome, there is even a playpark for visiting children and nice walks for people and dogs.
Inside the impressive building, all the necessary nursing equipment and facilities are on hand. The lift to the upper floor is tiny, to fit into the architecture of the building, but it is adequate for a wheelchair and a carer. There is a well-stocked library, comfortable communal lounge, and a study, amongst all other usual facilities.
However, it is the staff (directors, manager, nurses, carers and support personnel) that make the home the lovely, warm and welcoming place that it is. I thoroughly recommend it.
We have found Stowlangtoft Hall to be excellent in every aspect, all the staff have been extremely attentive and caring including the head chef and his staff, who not only prepare excellent food but go beyond that with there care and friendship towards mum. The home itself is a wonderful place, well decorated and comfortably furnished, entertainment is good and varied. Management are open and take on board anything that is discussed.
The chef takes such special care with my meals. They are full of flavour and beautifully presented. Every day he is here he comes to check that everything is alright. I enjoy the musical activities here. I feel really safe here and couldn't be in a better place. My daughter and her husband looked hard and long and really couldn't have found a better place for me.
The premises are clean and well equipped.
My only criticism is that there appears to be no training for the care staff in the transfer of disabled patients or understanding - lymphedema stockings and suprapubic catheter fitting are two examples. I had to do this job on several occasions until the staff understood.
I spent December there for respite care. The staff and nurses were excellent and cheerful. They addressed all in their care by their Christian names and were willing to help. I would certainly recommend the nursing home.
My husband spent a month respite care in the home and was well cared for and all the staff and owners were helpful, cheerful and caring at all times. We would certainly use them again.

Meet Natalie - Our Deputy Manager
Natalie works closely with the Home Manager to oversee daily life, making sure residents receive the right level of care and support at every stage of their stay.
A large part of the role involves working alongside the care team, keeping standards consistent and stepping in to lead when needed. Building strong relationships with residents and their families is just as important, whether that's through regular updates, answering questions or being available when something needs addressing quickly.
Natalie also plays a key role in show rounds, helping prospective families understand what life at the home looks like and how the team supports residents day to day. Taking the time to talk through any concerns helps families feel more confident about their decision.
With a hands-on approach and a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents, Natalie is a familiar and reassuring presence around the home.

Meet Anthea - our Home Administrator
Anthea is often the first point of contact at Stowlangtoft Hall, welcoming enquiries from families and helping to answer the initial questions that come with looking into care for a loved one.
Show rounds are a key part of the role, giving prospective residents and their families the chance to see the home, meet the team and get a feel for daily life before making a decision. Taking the time to listen to what matters most to each family helps make that first visit feel relaxed rather than overwhelming.
A warm welcome and a friendly face go a long way, and Anthea is always happy to show people around, talk through next steps or simply have a chat.
