The staff, particularly my mother's nurse, are lovely and very helpful. Unfortunately, my mother doesn't want to get out of bed, although she can, so misses out on the activities and other resident friendships that would benefit her. Home is always clean - we just wish mum would leave her room to join
others for a chat or an activity!
Reply from Gail Stone, General Manager at Barchester Bloomfield Care HomeThank you for your review, I will pass on your lovely comments to the nurses and care staff. We always strive to make residents feel included and comfortable in their environment, we will continue to encourage your mum to join in and build relationships.

A lovely care home, lovely carers on mums unit. Sometimes difficult to get through on the telephone even with the new mobile. Mum would like more cups of tea please, as she has not been able to use the cafe in reception due to Covid. I hope I can start using it soon with her. Unfair to keep the door
to reception/cafe locked, just because some residents wander.
Reply from Gail Stone, General Manager at Barchester Bloomfield Care HomeThank you for your review, I will pass on your positive scores to the team. Our Bistro area is open to residents and we welcome your mum to use this area whenever she chooses, I will ensure that your mum is encouraged to use this area of the home for cups of tea and homemade cakes.

My brother came here for end of life care, and in my opinion, the care provided has been outstanding. He has sadly passed away, but while he was here, all of the staff I came in contact with showed professionalism, dedication and compassion that was matched with the love they poured into my brothers
care. Thank you so much for all you did for him.

My father was admitted to Bloomfield in Paulton because he was exhausted from living at home. He looked so unwell I fully expected him to pass away within the next two weeks. Because of the care he was given, he managed to live an extra five months. We are all very grateful for this extra time with
Dad.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.843)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.843) out of 10 for Barchester Bloomfield Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 33 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.843 for Barchester Bloomfield Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (334 Excellents x 5) + (49 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 389 Ratings = 4.843
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Bloomfield Care Home is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 102 registered maximum number of service users is 20.4, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have been working in health and social care since 2005, I have a nursing background and achieved my Bachelor of Nursing in 2004. I love my job and find it extremely rewarding to work in a care home setting rather than a clinical hospital, I am privileged to have such a long-term involvement in someone's life and to make a difference in their day, putting a smile on their faces and helping them with any concerns they might have.

I am a mother to a lovely little girl, aged ten and the wife of a very supportive husband. We love spending precious time together and have many hobbies, such as playing the piano, singing, riding our bicycles and having friends around.

Job Title: Activities Coordinator Joined: 2025

I joined Bloomfield in December 2025 and have really enjoyed becoming part of the team. Before this role, I worked closely with young children in a school setting and previously as a carer, which helped me develop strong skills in supporting others, building trust, and understanding individual needs. These experiences have shaped my caring approach and continue to influence the way I work at Bloomfield.

Since joining, I have especially enjoyed getting to know the residents through a variety of activities. I value the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, learn about each person’s interests and life experiences, and help create a positive, engaging environment where everyone feels included and supported.

Outside of work, I enjoy being creative and spending time crafting. I also love getting outdoors and staying active through swimming and running. Most importantly, I value spending quality time with my family and friends, which helps me relax and maintain a good balance between work and home life.
